Hello all! Thanks for the support!:grouphug:

Haven't had a chance to sit down yet (other than late into the night to try to finalize ADR list to send to TA since dates open Mon and we might need to back and forth some).

So far behind on stuff around the house... today is luckily quiet - doing laundry :laundy: and hopefully going to see Maleificent with another Disney nut.

Wish you all a good weekend!!!

Ooooh I wanna see Maleficent!! Have a great weekend!!

I highly recommend Maleficent! It was wonderful, and surprisingly funny! We laughed lots. AJ was great. :thumbsup2 We saw it in 3D which added richness to the movie without the gimmicky 'throw stuff at the crowd just because it's 3D' other movies include.

:offtopic: And now back to the regularly scheduled RC discussions...

I'm going to try tonight. I figure 9:00 Pacific Time is mug night EST time. Cross fingers it works! Oh, look!! It's 9:00 now  time got away from me. Off I go to try! So hard to know what to do, but I think I'll go with rope drop and beeline to my favs, then start FPs at 10:00. This way if I want to ride a fav twice I can, rope drop then FP.
popcorn:: Alright??? How'd it go????
How'd the FP bookings go?

We have booked the Family Magic Tour and BBB for DD one evening now...only DTD was available, so it's while we're at POR and we'll have dinner at 1900 later that same night. Pre-park opening ADR the following morning at MK so maybe it'll last through those pics?

AND I ordered an Anna coronation dress for DD from Etsy!!

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards
I saw that dress So cute!

Pas...you're too kind :goodvibes So y'all are still at OKW :rolleyes1 ...for now....

We are!!! Can you believe it???? DH keeps reminding me we are PIF with the 35% discount and need to stay put :rotfl:

popcorn:: We got our DD9's "locker camp" orientation which is Aug. 28th...DH said leave our trip alone no date switching..but she is anxious about missing it. Since she is starting a new school, I'll be able to bring her in the day before probably, but at the same time I don't want her to worry..

Thanks!! This is a really fun thread!! :dance3:

Thanks! I found my people! lol :goodvibes:rotfl:

NOTHING really OFFtopic here, it's a Disney movie so it's all good!!:thumbsup2

So since we have several new friends that have joined us recently...I wanted to formally :welcome: everyone and introduce myself! BTW for anyone who would like to be included on our ever changing trip list just let us know and JanetB can add you on, and do not worry we don't tally the ch-ch-changes....:rotfl2:

My name is Jeanette and I took over this thread I think in 2012 from the true Queen of resort changers stepdisney we truly are friends here, and there is always room for more..however we are all happy to help give input not necessarily found on the FAQ threads, including personal opinions, experiences, and hints. I will address the WL pool refurb shortly. I am Mommy to 5 kids at home and one DS who is all grown up...the kids are 13,9,8,7, and 5. I have had several value stays, and I used to own DVC until my family got too big for the points. In 2010 they overbooked AKV and we were moved to a AKL CL suite....I had been bitten by the CL bug and have struggled with this since...my DH is lover of all things not Disney. The beach, and ahem Universal...:duck:

This upcoming trip is my 40th birthday and we are staying at OKW in a 2BR villa. However I started at BWI CL and have pretty much been booked at EVERY deluxe. 2 rooms on CL can be pricey and as my DH keeps reminding me not budget friendly. But CL is so cool ......

So from a TA which cannot be named on the DIS we switched to Poly GV CL and we were upgraded to LV CL..this was around the time of the announcement to the pool closure at Poly (when they we saying you could use the GF pool) now I LOVE GF, but I HATE construction...even small noninvasive construction. The IPO hooked me up with a construction manager who pretty much hinted to change resorts.. We were at YC CL/BC CL, but I really love MK resorts. Then I was at CR, but I just wasn't "feeling it" and the 35% summer discount came out for WL CL..I LOVE WL CL. I stayed there with DH, it is awesome and I was super excited to get my kids there.....the day before the pool rumors came out my DD9 was looking at WDW resorts and focused in on OKW. She was in love, my DH was in love (this never happens.......he loves WL but the CL price drives him nuts) so again we changed. He's threatening to cancel Disney if I change again.....

Here's my reasoning for keeping OKW....

Washer/Dryer
HUGE balcony
Kitchen for snacks and meals
A King size bed and a room just for me and hubby....
A peaceful resort for my 2 special needs kiddos
boat to DTD
we are driving..convenient parking by the villa

Lack of love for Epcot resorts (no rationale just love the location...but that's it)
AKL we've been there done that (love it but it's a lot of walking inside)
The MK resorts are going to be crowded with Poly and WL defectors.
The monorail is never our friend.....
the price cannot be justified. I am paying less for 1300 sq. ft. at OKW than ONE GF CL room with a 35% discount...

For those debating GF/CR over WL...

To me the pool does not make or break the resort it is the overall construction...so the beach FW Woods view and CL I feel will be unaffected. GF and CR will be at capacity and crowded..again this is an opinion.

Location_ CR has it

GF has the AHHHHHH feeling, although I didn't like the new room décor
Pool wise GF has 2 great pool, and CR is on Bay Lake which is beautiful!
All the rooms have balconies (except CR GW) and great views no matter what category you book IMO (again except CR CW)

So that's just a few thoughts from someone who thinks about this stuff a lot....if BLT was counted in the discount I would have vetoed my DHs choice and booked there :rotfl2:

How's that...clear as mud???:faint:

Hi Jeanette .., I agree with you on the new room decor at the Floridian not a fan. I've looked it over a few times and think it would help greatly if they added a print or floral wallpaper. It has to be the same designer doing the boardwalk since those are looking pretty generic as well after the refurb (( sad ))

Thank you for the welcome : )

I totally agree! I am a little nervous to see the new BC décor as well.....one of the things about GF that made it GF was the Victorian feel..IMO:goodvibes

I would love to see Maleficent! I will settle with Redbox.

Oh my, I truly enjoyed it!
I am not an AJ fan but she really made the character and I think she did a great job of bringing the traditional Maleficent while also doing an amazing job of retelling the story. I went with a fellow Dis-nut who is postponing her Sept trip (*sniffle* :() but it was nice to have some time away from the ILs and the stress going on and just focus on superfluous things! Highly recommend the movie!!!

Love your change story for this trip and also your advice about the WL/Poly pool drama. For us, the pool is a big deal (we have 1.5 days devoted to pool time) but we decided not to give up proximity for water and figure since we have the time built in, we can venture to CR and FW. DH has also offered to throw DD into Bay Lake if she REALLY wants to swim. :rotfl:

I don't know if I ever formally introduced myself here (I think I jumped right in during a resort changing crisis!) but we are a military family of 4. DH and I have lived in 6 places in 10 years, including 3 tropical years in Hawaii (pre-Aulani... *sniff, sniff*) all for him to bring me back within an hour of where I grew up. :lmao: We have a precocious DD who is 6 11/12 (as she reminded me today). She is our 'Tigger' - always on the go and bouncing. We also have our LO who is almost ONE! (where does the time go???) and is doing super-duper amazing after her unexpected arrival 8 weeks early.

I found this board after a friendly mousemommy watched me agonize over some potential changes and have found an amazing, warm, friendly group of DISers who offer some of the best advice and will talk you into or out of just about anything ((seriously, I can't believe I've priced out GF but you all make it sound so attainable!!!)). I am so happy to have found a group that obsess over their trips as much as I do and also that people can be so supportive to each other having only the simple commonality of a mouse! :lovestruc You all are AWESOME!!!

Also, I suppose it's time I add our trips to the log!
Sept 13-20, WL & Dec 20-27, CSR (In-law-mageddon... group of 12!!!) :scared1:

On an RC note, trying to convince DH it's imperative to arrive a day early for Dec trip. He suspects motives of trying to hit MVMCP but I say it's to ensure we can help the ILs when they arrive... yes, that's it... helping others. ;)

Am I in the right place? My husband and I were planning our second trip to WL when they announced the pool closure. We are still booked there but have a tentative reservation for GF. We are waiting to see how bad it gets.

We've visited DW for 14 years in a row now (15th visit in Nov) and have never resort hopped. We are 'stuck in a rut' WL or AKL fans. I would love to try other places, maybe as a two or three night experiment during our week stay, but don't think my DW/DBFF/DSO would go for it. (Really, who needs two 'full' large suitcases, with two barely legal carry-ons, for a five day trip? In summer?! And really, I have never met anyone else who actually fills the room dresser. Doesn't everyone just live out of their suitcase when they travel?) So we found a (very expensive) compromise! Extra visits! For us, it is resort hopping (maybe changing, depending on discounts) since the extra visit in May will be at a non-WL/AKL resort. Looking at BC. Walked through last year. Seems so much more like a hotel than the WL or AKL, which both have so much ambiance! Being able to walk to EP is a huge plus though, but I'm so afraid of feeling like I'm in a regular hotel! Pity those with the stress of deciding which DW resort to stay at. :rotfl2: Love having these type of problems!:rolleyes1

Love these types of problems! I also unpack and fill the dresser!

Anyway, we love WL and are staying there this October. Had two years at AKL and love it too, esp. me because of the animals.

You will LOVE BC! It takes deluxe to a new level. The theming isn't great, but the room size, comfort and the little touches make it so special. Of course, the location totally sells it. You will have a great extra trip! Enjoy!!

We are so glad to have you too!!! :grouphug: I can't believe the babe is almost one!!! And it's been quite the year for you!!! :faint:

::yes:: Yep, you found us!!! You're way lucky to have a back-up booking!!! GF is simply GRAND :goodvibes

I know what you mean about the "hotel" feeling. Location and pool, BC has got it going on..and the BW :beach:

My DH despises split-stays....I love them. Easy peasy IMO. He didn't like the theming at BCV or the ambience there...but he liked YC a little, go figure :confused3

Love these types of problems! I also unpack and fill the dresser!

Yes -- welcome to all the newbies! I do have to say, this is the best thread on the board. ;) It's awesome when people truly get what we're feeling!

And, we've got lots and lots of trips coming up! It's now feeling, really real. We have 78 days left, and I got an email this morning from Disney reminding me of FP+ coming up in a few weeks. Wasn't expecting that! I need to figure out what I want, for what times. I feel like this will be the hardest thing for me to do. I really need to think about how I want our days to look, how many rope drops, etc.

Decisions, decisions! :)

Thanks for the link. Food porn excites me. :cool1:

Your welcome. I am still holding on to hope that the mushroom filet, or at least the bone in rib eye, is still on the menu. If they aren't, I'll just have the cheddar cheese soup if I can't find anything else that looks yummy. Which I'm fine with, because it will leave enough room in my tummy for that yummy chocolate mousse off the kids menu. Then again, with it being December, if I do eat a steak, I can get the mousse to go. Then I can eat it while watching Illuminations.

Oh my goodness another change ... I really do belong on this board : )
Here's the latest changes :
Due to the pool construction at WL that is more extensive and lasting until thanksgiving we are now booked at GF theme park view for 10 days and the 3 days at RP club level in a standard room. So were all in at GF ... Hoping now ( fingers crossed ) this is our final plans. I guess never say never as I've honestly never felt the need or want to move resorts so many times ( crazy )

How is everyone else plans coming along?

:welcome: I would love to stay at the GF one day.

The plans for my upcoming trip are really done. We are just waiting for Disney to announce their military discount for December. Hopefully we'll be able to keep our current resort, BWI. When the Candlelight Processional packages are released, we plan on booking that with hopefully Teppan Edo. We still haven't bought our MVMCP tickets, but I'm waiting on my friend's hubby to pass his PT test and a military discount to be released.

I think the hardest part is that my DD is having trouble wrapping her head around what's going on. We used to visit my grandmother but her condition deteriorated and she forgot who we were... she used to totally freak out when DH came into her room and was scared of DD, so they hadn't visited in months. In the last 3 months, even I caused distress so I hadn't been in awhile. There's both a relief that she's not suffering and also guilt that we didn't do more... such a hard situation.

My MIL's uncle is in a dicier situation. My ILs live out west but we make it a point to visit him at least twice each time they are here. When they were here in April, he was diagnosed with cirrhosis but the family he lives with are somewhat selfish and believe stuff is left alone and to each their own so not much has been done to help him since. He lives in a house that was totally hoarded (4-5 feet deep of STUFF) and a friend called police because he was concerned as uncle's health deteriorated. Now, he's in a rehab/convalescent home and my ILs have been up there twice trying to convince him to write a will and AD. He's very stubborn so I'm not sure if it will happen. We are headed out to go sightseeing and then will stop over for a bit today... it's just hard because DD had trouble seeing him last time so I'll drop the ILs off and take the girls somewhere else for awhile. We had to explain to DD that he probably won't go home from the center and have had some long talks about the whole situation (that he is sick, that he's done a lot in his life, that we need to enjoy the time we have...) Just a lot for a 6 year old to understand... and a lot of people around her passing away in the last 2 years.

I'm sure it is very hard for her to understand at her age.

On a happier note, I am happy with my ILs ADRs... which is good because Monday is the day!!! MIL/FIL were playing the "don't care" game, but finally settled on Marrakesh (hopefully Candlight Processional), 50's PT, LTT, and Coral Reef. My BIL and his crew have Yak and Yeti, H&V (lunch), and Chefs de France. My SIL and her husband (non park people) have Jiko, Brown Derby, and Narcoosee's. And we have Tusker House (lunch), H&V (lunch with other crew), Akerhaus, and Sanaa for DH and I. We have 4 ADRs as a group: Raglan, Cape May, Biergarten, T-Rex, and potentially brunch together on Christmas at a character buffet. I feel like everyone is getting to explore a bit on their own but we still have time together.

Hope everyone is doing well!!! Can't wait to see the last of the plans come together for the July/August group!!! popcorn:: *HUGS* and have a great Friday!!!

I'm glad you were able to get ADRs nailed down. It doesn't even sound like you had to duct tape them to the wall and beat them until they picked their ADRs. :lmao:

We're all doing good here. I hope things get calmer for your family.

Ohh I found where I belong!!!! We're going to Disney is September and I've changed resorts sooo many times.

Here's my list-

*First it was a Universal resort
*Then Shades of Green and a Universal hotel split stay
*Pop Century with free dining
*Back to Universal hotel
*Back toPop with upgraded free dining
*Then Shades of Green
*Then back to Universal
*Then CBR Pirate room with free dining
*Then AKL bunk bed room with free dining
*Then back to Shades again!!

Now we finally decided on the POR!! lol! I've had so many credits put back on my credit card....lol. I felt like I was losing my mind for awhile.

:welcome: We might actually end up at Shades of Green. I told the friend I am going with that I would pay for the resort, since she is getting us such good discounts. Since I am no longer working, my DH agreed to pay for my girls only trip. If he doesn't like the cost of the trip with staying at BWI, we may be forced to change in order to keep the trip.

I think this time it's gonna stick. The dining plan just made our vacation too scheduled, we're spontaneous people and the free dining was like a ball and chain to me. Still might add a night or two at Universal.... I'm so indecisive!

That's how we felt about the Deluxe DDP. It felt like we were always either trying to stay near a restaurant so we could check in for an ADR, waiting to be seated for an ADR, or eating. On our last trip, we just had the basic DDP, which didn't make us feel as restricted. We mainly just love having our meals paid for before we go.

Just called and switched again!! LOL

Now we're at the French Quarter 6 nights and Universal 2 nights for the front of the line pass.

That's it, I'm done!!! I need to walk away from the computer before I change my mind again.

If I had a penny for every time I have said that, I would have enough money to pay cash to buy into DVC.

Good Morning!!

wookie, piglet, disneymeema, Janet, Candance :wave2:

Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!!!!!
Heather

:wave2:

I agree with Bwo. I was surprised at how funny it was.

NOTHING really OFFtopic here, it's a Disney movie so it's all good!!:thumbsup2

Exactly, nothing is really offtopic here, since we are not only a support group for RC'ing, but for anything.

On an RC note, trying to convince DH it's imperative to arrive a day early for Dec trip. He suspects motives of trying to hit MVMCP but I say it's to ensure we can help the ILs when they arrive... yes, that's it... helping others. ;)

You are so right. It would be absolutely disrespectful as their son/daughter in law to not arrive a day early to be there to greet them. After all they did to raise him, the least your husband could do is to arrive a day early to be there to greet them. If you think about it, it's selfish of him not to. :lmao:

Am I in the right place? My husband and I were planning our second trip to WL when they announced the pool closure. We are still booked there but have a tentative reservation for GF. We are waiting to see how bad it gets.

:welcome: At one point, we had planned on staying at the WL, then I was afraid we wouldn't be able to get it with the military discount (I am sure they will announce this Summer for our dates.) The pool construction, even if it is still on-going during our dates, don't concern me. Since we'll be there in December, I don't plan on swimming at all.

We've visited DW for 14 years in a row now (15th visit in Nov) and have never resort hopped. We are 'stuck in a rut' WL or AKL fans. When we travel, we always live out of our suitcases. I'm just afraid I'll leave something behind.

Introductions are a good idea.

My name is Kim, and I am a stay at home mom. I am a proud native Texan. My family currently lives in Justin, Texas, which is near the Dallas/ Fort Worth metroplex. We moved in with my DH's parents a couple of years ago to help with some medical issues they have. Unfortunately, their home is close enough to the Texas Motor Speedway that we can see it from the front porch and can hear the cars driving around the track. Which makes NASCAR a cuss word several times a year in our house.

I am married to David, and July 1st will be our 19th wedding anniversary. Which to me is special, because we were 19 when we were married. This means we will be married half our lives. I met my DH while we were in line for the Skyway at the Magic Kingdom. It was Spring Break of 1994, and I was there with my high school band for the Magic Music Days. My DH was in Florida with his family, and had decided last minute to go to WDW. While in the line, I noticed his hat with his high school mascot on it, and Texas AAA football champs. Since I knew the school (we played in them football and my cousin went to that school), and he was super hot, my friends and I started talking to them. He told me later that he remembered seeing me talk to my cousin at band competitions and football games. He asked me out on our first date the Easter of 1994, and a year later were married.

We have two boys, ages 16 and 15. Joey, our 16 yr old, was born at 32 weeks by emergency c-section and weighed only 4 lbs. He is now about 6 foot tall, and towers over me. John Michael (JM) is our 15 yr old. He was diagnosed with mild Autism Spectrum Disorder. He keeps me on my toes, and keeps life interesting. I still can't believe I am the mother of a Junior and Freshman in high school.

My hubby doesn't love going to Disney as much as the boys and I do. My DH says we aren't going back to WDW until Star Warsland is completed, or doing anything Disney for at least 10 years. He says there are other places he wants to visit with our boys before they leave home. Then again he was saying this before our trip this year and we went to both DCA and DL.

I haven't stayed at many WDW resorts. So far, we have stayed at CBR, WL, Pop Century, and AKL. Of those, WL and AKL are my favorite. The current trip I am planning is with a friend that I met while planning our June 2012 trip on the DIS threads and FB group. The dates and resort have changed so many times, I haven't bother keeping track of the number of changes.

I missed you Sue  sorry..... You HAVE to report back your FP :thumbsup2

Ok well FPs made :thumbsup2 for all 2 weeks. Can't believe it took me 2+ hrs :faint: I don't understand why they can't improve the process :confused3 first you have to book picking option A, B, or C. then you have to go back in and change them all to the times you actually want!! Why can't we just skip the options and book the times we want in the first place?????
On the bright side I did get everything I wanted within their parameters ::yes:: I don't like the tier changes for DHS. Or Epcot. If my memory is correct, they put both Great Movie Ride, and Living the Land in tier 1 :(

I was able to make my friends FP up to 7 days, she is checking in 3 days later then us, at GF too. She also has an AP. Which is why I was able to make her FPs before her 60 day. But Monday we have to go into MDE :scared: again and copy my FPs to her for the rest of the trip. Hope it's smooth going!!! She is on my Family & Friends list, so we can make FPs for each other. Handy since we meet up twice a year at wdw!

My thoughts on FP+. There are things I like and some I don't. I like that when there are days we don't plan on rope drop, like a couple of breakfast days, we still have FPs, during times we want, rather then possibility of them running out or a really late time you have no control of with legacy pass.

Things I don't like is that it's a lot more work, (2hrs) and I don't like the tiers at DHS & Epcot.

:thumbsup2 Totally...just too far from everything. But some of the nicest cast members you'll ever meet!

We have not done the archery, but I watched one of the classes. Wanted to get a picture, but didn't want anyone to think I was the stalker type :upsidedow Guess I would have looked strange snapping pictures of complete strangers. Looked like lots of fun. They held the class over by the Meadow Pool.

Thanks :goodvibes Pictures make me smile and I totally enjoy taking them!

Trying to get it together :upsidedow Soon, I hope. For some reason I can't get myself motivated. Had to update the Fort Wilderness Thread with current pics, and I'm not quite done with that.

Grab that Mine Train pass!! Or else you'll be waiting for 2 hours  We didn't have them, so we had to do EMH one morning. Got there around 7:30ish and hoofed it to the ride. While there were a ton of people, we only had to wait 20 minutes.

I have lots of Mine Train FPs!! Morning, night time, mid day!! :upsidedow so hope I like it!!!!

Yes Jeanette, lots of newbies but you are all in the right place! I stumbled upon here in 2011 or early 2012 with a question about switching back to the Poly and have never left! Lots of fab women here. :thumbsup2
