Our little thread of BIG changes, the neverending saga of the Resort Changers

Good Morning to all

We made it back from the World ...always bitter-sweet, ya know. Had a fabulous time, and both FW and WL were awesome. Got lots of great pictures :teeth: Can't wait to share.

It appears I have TONS of catching up to do :upsidedow But I did see that Candace is adding another Mouseketter to her family  Very exciting!!! Congrats!

Now back to reading :surfweb:
Heather

:worship: another great pic Heather!! Hurry & get that TR going! Love them! I think you missed your calling, Travel Writter!!

I better get going on finalizing my FP+ today! Tomorrow is our booking day for FP! :faint:

You're right Pas we just have to get over it about all the refurbs in August/Sept. But seems it's one thing after another. I don't ever remember so much going on all at once!! And I was so looking forward to that morning monorail, but I'll live!! and really looking forward to GF ::yes::

I agree. I really like AKL for a pool/relaxation/AKL weekend, but I just can't pull the trigger ever for a Parks-heavy stay. :(

:thumbsup2 Totally...just too far from everything. But some of the nicest cast members you'll ever meet!

Such a lovely photo. The stress just melts away looking at it. So glad you and your family had a nice time. :goodvibes For some reason, I am looking forward to archery at FWC. Have you ever done while there?

We have not done the archery, but I watched one of the classes. Wanted to get a picture, but didn't want anyone to think I was the stalker type :upsidedow Guess I would have looked strange snapping pictures of complete strangers. Looked like lots of fun. They held the class over by the Meadow Pool.

YAY! Bring on all the pics!!! Bay Lake looks so peaceful there :cloud9:
:thumbsup2 Your photos ROCK!!!!! Every last one!!

Thanks :goodvibes Pictures make me smile and I totally enjoy taking them!

:worship: another great pic Heather!! Hurry & get that TR going! Love them! I think you missed your calling, Travel Writter!!

Trying to get it together :upsidedow Soon, I hope. For some reason I can't get myself motivated. Had to update the Fort Wilderness Thread with current pics, and I'm not quite done with that.

I better get going on finalizing my FP+ today! Tomorrow is our booking day for FP! :faint:

Grab that Mine Train pass!! Or else you'll be waiting for 2 hours  We didn't have them, so we had to do EMH one morning. Got there around 7:30ish and hoofed it to the ride. While there were a ton of people, we only had to wait 20 minutes.

And now I'm back to changing I guess I thought I was happy 2 weeks ago ... Here's the newest plan WL CYV cough cough courtyard view AKA provably a construction View - November 9 - 19 GF RP CL in a deluxe king main building and at rack rate AKA I'm crazy!! - November 19 -22 I've been reading along with all the changes, oh the fun continues : )

Oh my goodness another change ... I really do belong on this board : )
Here's the latest changes :
Due to the pool construction at WL that is more extensive and lasting until thanksgiving we are now booked at GF theme park view for 10 days and the 3 days at RP club level in a standard room. So were all in at GF ... Hoping now ( fingers crossed ) this is our final plans. I guess never say never as I've honestly never felt the need or want to move resorts so many times ( crazy )

How is everyone else plans coming along?

Hello all!
It's been a roller coaster of a week!

First, MM - CONGRATS! I felt bad I couldn't post sooner but am so thrilled for your fam.

To those prepping for their Dis trips, :dance3:
To those coming back or just back, :sad2:

I spent the better part of last week at extra dance practice for DD6's dance recital this past Sat (she rocked it) and prepping for my ILs arrival. We drove out to the beach on Sunday and spent the night (fun!) but on the way back Monday we found out that my grandma passed (sad but she was suffering from dementia and Alzheimer's so also glad she is at peace) and that my MIL's uncle is in convalescent center for cirrhosis of the liver. Yesterday was spent running around trying to coordinate information for both families and since Sunday I have driven almost 750 miles and haven't left the state of Maryland! (well, I did dip into Delaware but only to get back to Maryland from Maryland... crazy state).

Also, DH is starting to talk about where our next move will be and things are totally 180 from what our detailer (guy who finds slots for people) said a few weeks ago. We thought we had the next year mapped out (as much as you can in the military) and now we're back to square one.

All this capped off by confirmation of the pool at WL closing right before our trip. Options to move are thin and not enticing (AKL pool view for $50 more, POR and only save $200 over the week, and BWI for $75 a NIGHT more). DH and I have been back and forth about possibly moving to AKL but I feel like I need to upgrade to animals ($40 a night more) and DD isn't thrilled with the theme and I'm not thrilled with the distance since we'll be toting LO. I have come to accept that the pool issue won't be too bad (CR has a great pool area and we always wanted to scope the resort out) but I am worried about construction noise since LO often naps. We are on woods side but I know how sound can travel.

Top that off with December ADRs being due next week and my ILs giving DH the "whateve ryou think is best" answer... but then hinting they aren't thrilled with what we are saying.

I know it's silly to throw Disney drama in with death and dying but planning trips is a great escape and right now I am having trouble finding the 'fun'. Also, reading some of the people on the WL threads right now made me so frustrated for criticizing those at WL who are in the same spot I am in. I had to hop off the boards for the last 2 days because I was getting too riled up... I am fortunate we can take frequent Disney trips but I know people who save, save, save and plan, plan, plan and this is a huge blow for them. Heck, the irony is I cancelled SoG 2 weeks ago because I've debated trying to just stay there in Sept to save money but a lot of their great rates are gone.

*HUGS* to everyone here :grouphug: and :cheer2: WELCOME to some of the newbies. I'm sorry for the other WLers and Poly people! Hoping that 2015 will bring some amaing resorts and amenities because I SWEAR all these hotels are getting spiffed up this year!
Man, that is tough. We're going through something similar, and its definitely made me stressed out. :sad2:

Thank goodness there are positive things to look upon! :goodvibes

:wave2: and thanks for all the support. Can't type long - will hopefully have a chance to read last few pages tomorrow.

Wanted to say we decided to stay at WL and are looking at it as an opportunity to explore future RC options - we want to take girls to CR TPV when LO is older and FIL is interested in FW so we can scope it out and report back for future trips.

Since we didn't switch resorts, I had to do SOMETHING, so we gave up Sanaa in September for Boma (probably work better with the kiddos) and will shoot for Sanaa in December - ILs will take the kiddos and DH and I will celebrate our 10th anniversary and have a GROWN UP meal.

Hope all is well!
Also, many, MANY thanks to hstrickland for reporting back during her vacation... while we couldn't benefit from the advanced knowledge, I know a bunch of people were able to jump resorts and they will be thankful when the Sept heat/humidity rolls over them. :upsidedow

Take care all!

*HUGS* to everyone! Finally had a chance to catch up -- so excited to be reading about the upcoming trips and can't wait to see if there are any last minute ch-ch-changes!

i-heart: I know it's not the same thing, but I was at Disney 8 weeks after hip surgery and did well. The hardest thing for your DS is going to be taking it easy -- it's so easy to just GO at Disney and overdo without realizing it. My family forced me to sit down and we built in ready-made breaks. The wheelchair is a good idea but I can totally see him wanting to walk himself. No matter what, I know your family will have a blast! :goodvibes

MM: I'm sorry the first trimester isn't going well. :worried: My first pregnancy was a breeze but my LO made me beyond ill! I think the silver lining was the day the nausea finally let up was the day I first felt her kick... made me forget the countless GF pretzels I nibbled on for the first 4 months! ::yes::

I do hope that the group going at the same time (I lost count... how many are there now?) get a chance to meet up! What fun!

I'm sorry about your grandmother and your mil's uncle. I hope things calm down for you soon.

 Sorry to hear of your Grandma's passing. My one grandmother had dementia too but the finality of death hit me hard. And sometimes vacation planning is a good distraction from reality..heck make that ALL the time. I also am a little frustrated with some the DIS posts. Where has the happiness escaped to? It is hard to swallow all the changes, but they have to get done and the reality is end of August is value season at the deluxes. It is what it is right? Location is so important, in my case it is NOT important to DH so we chose a villa. If VWL was available, trust that is where we would be !

Man, that is tough. We're going through something similar, and its definitely made me stressed out. :sad2:

Thank goodness there are positive things to look upon! :goodvibes

I think the hardest part is that my DD is having trouble wrapping her head around what's going on. We used to visit my grandmother but her condition deteriorated and she forgot who we were... she used to totally freak out when DH came into her room and was scared of DD, so they hadn't visited in months. In the last 3 months, even I caused distress so I hadn't been in awhile. There's both a relief that she's not suffering and also guilt that we didn't do more... such a hard situation.

My MIL's uncle is in a dicier situation. My ILs live out west but we make it a point to visit him at least twice each time they are here. When they were here in April, he was diagnosed with cirrhosis but the family he lives with are somewhat selfish and believe stuff is left alone and to each their own so not much has been done to help him since. He lives in a house that was totally hoarded (4-5 feet deep of STUFF) and a friend called police because he was concerned as uncle's health deteriorated. Now, he's in a rehab/convalescent home and my ILs have been up there twice trying to convince him to write a will and AD. He's very stubborn so I'm not sure if it will happen. We are headed out to go sightseeing and then will stop over for a bit today... it's just hard because DD had trouble seeing him last time so I'll drop the ILs off and take the girls somewhere else for awhile. We had to explain to DD that he probably won't go home from the center and have had some long talks about the whole situation (that he is sick, that he's done a lot in his life, that we need to enjoy the time we have...) Just a lot for a 6 year old to understand... and a lot of people around her passing away in the last 2 years.

On a happier note, I am happy with my ILs ADRs... which is good because Monday is the day!!! MIL/FIL were playing the "don't care" game, but finally settled on Marrakesh (hopefully Candlight Processional), 50's PT, LTT, and Coral Reef. My BIL and his crew have Yak and Yeti, H&V (lunch), and Chefs de France. My SIL and her husband (non park people) have Jiko, Brown Derby, and Narcoosee's. And we have Tusker House (lunch), H&V (lunch with other crew), Akerhaus, and Sanaa for DH and I. We have 4 ADRs as a group: Raglan, Cape May, Biergarten, T-Rex, and potentially brunch together on Christmas at a character buffet. I feel like everyone is getting to explore a bit on their own but we still have time together.

Hope everyone is doing well!!! Can't wait to see the last of the plans come together for the July/August group!!! popcorn:: *HUGS* and have a great Friday!!!

Ohh I found where I belong!!!! We're going to Disney is September and I've changed resorts sooo many times.

Here's my list-

*First it was a Universal resort
*Then Shades of Green and a Universal hotel split stay
*Pop Century with free dining
*Back to Universal hotel
*Back toPop with upgraded free dining
*Then Shades of Green
*Then back to Universal
*Then CBR Pirate room with free dining
*Then AKL bunk bed room with free dining
*Then back to Shades again!!

Now we finally decided on the POR!! lol! I've had so many credits put back on my credit card....lol. I felt like I was losing my mind for awhile.

I think this time it's gonna stick. The dining plan just made our vacation too scheduled, we're spontaneous people and the free dining was like a ball and chain to me. Still might add a night or two at Universal.... I'm so indecisive!

Ok, it's official I am losing my mind because I switched again.

Now I have Wilderness Lodge courtyard bunk bed room for 5 nights and Universal Royal Pacific for 3 nights. That way we get front of the line for Universal(we already have annual passes still good from before we moved).

I seriously forgot how crazy it is planning a disney vacation after living in Florida the past 8 years! lol

LOL That sounds awesome. Glad to find out there's other people like me! Once again I will be calling today and saying I have two reservations and I want to cancel one....LOL.

Just called and switched again!! LOL

Now we're at the French Quarter 6 nights and Universal 2 nights for the front of the line pass.

That's it, I'm done!!! I need to walk away from the computer before I change my mind again.

:rotfl2: OK, so I made one more change.....POFQ the whole time. I also booked one night at Universal in the middle of the trip so we can get the front of the line

Now I'm done........no really I am. LOL :lmao:

New to this thread. Enjoying everyone's indecision! So funny and so true!

Started at POR for Sep. 29-Oct.4 with 30% room discount. DH said he wants to stay Deluxe. Moved to WL with free dining. Pool construction had me researching BC, CR. Decided to stick with WL because our DDs love water parks more than MK or EP!! They thought the AKL pool and slide were boring last year!

Now I added a room only for Sep. 28 at POR, royal room for DD 10. She's been dying to check it out since she saw a video of them.

I think we are all done now. But, you never know!

Thanks :goodvibes Pictures make me smile and I totally enjoy taking them!
You have a gift for it!!!

Holding strong at OKW, however I'd gladly take BLT or VWL!!

Hugs back at ya!! Lots of meet and greets planned. There are lots of RCers who have been WAY busy and not on the DIS much...but planning and ch-ch-changing away!!!

Sorry that situation is just difficult :guilty: And your poor DD, thank goodness her parents are awesome!!!

:welcome: to the RC family!! Those Express passes are AWESOME! You get 2 days worth for one night so it's all good!! And the worst thing for a RCer to say is DONE..like Goonies (if you remember that movie), Goonies never say die..RCers are never done changing..I have stopped myself at least once today. It kills me, but I will regret it if I change and my DH is FINALLY pleased! He's not quite the WDW lover I am :upsidedow

I liked the AKL pool, but I'm a slide chicken :lmao:

:welcome: If they were bored at AKL they wouldn't be thrilled at WL pool if the slide was open. So you're doing the waterparks too, very cool! If I may suggest...BC pool is great, plus location....however I am a MK gal at heart. I know Poly they are giving a BB pass out. If that's a consideration. Anywhere in WDW you'll have a great trip!

I'm going to try tonight. I figure 9:00 Pacific Time is mug night EST time. Cross fingers it works! Oh, look!! It's 9:00 now  time got away from me. Off I go to try! So hard to know what to do, but I think I'll go with rope drop and beeline to my favs, then start FPs at 10:00. This way if I want to ride a fav twice I can, rope drop then FP.

How'd the FP bookings go?

We have booked the Family Magic Tour and BBB for DD one evening now...only DTD was available, so it's while we're at POR and we'll have dinner at 1900 later that same night. Pre-park opening ADR the following morning at MK so maybe it'll last through those pics?

AND I ordered an Anna coronation dress for DD from Etsy!!
