Our little thread of BIG changes, the neverending saga of the Resort Changers

No more mushroom filet?? What did they replace it with? Definitely not upset we're forgoing Le Cellier this trip if that is the case... Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

I can't link the thread about it, since I shut my laptop down already. In it, someone linked to the Disney Food blog's (I think that's who did it) Instagram where they posted a pic. It was a filet with tomatoes and some kind of green on top of it. It was on a bacon/spinach risotto with some kind of Parmesan sauce around it.

We will be at MK that night! :goodvibes
I didn't mean to DIS "dis" you. :flower: A quick hello somewhere sure works for me since I know you are with your clan and that takes ultimate precedence. :dance3: I only meet if I am alone or with DH. ::yes::

Here's our Sunday FPs:

Sunday, August 17, 2014 - Disney's Hollywood Studios®
Update
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™9:50 - 10:50 am
Toy Story Midway Mania!10:55 - 11:55 am
Voyage of The Little Mermaid11:55 - 12:10 pm

Afternoon is pool at CSR. Then evening will be at MK. Dinner ADR at the Plaza for 7:30pm. I've never eaten there .... anyone have any opinions????? Magic how does this fit into your plans????
Ooops, I meant Sunday, Aug 24th. What are your plans that day? We've got AK mid-day... so far. Our approximates times are: we've got Tough/Bug 12-1, Jungle Trek 1-2, Dinosaur 2-3. :goodvibes ...We like The Plaza to cool down. Nice spot for a not too heavy sandwich especially in Aug heat. Big portions. Good prices. We've only caught the The Mayor dude one time, but it was cute. The chosen Jr Mayor boy's face was purple from embarrassment. And now there's a modified Kitchen Sink there, too, for those who revel in gluttony! The new wall they put up in front of the Plaza picture windows sure takes away from the lovely view of the Castle. I heard it's temporary for construction of one of the new FP+ kiosks. Hope so.

OMG. Resort Changing....it's an illness, it really is! I made a reservation for a trip to the World for Villains Unleashed on Monday - staying at Pop....and I'm already considering switching to a Royal Guest Room at POR....I CAN'T HELP MYSELF! :rotfl2:

Courtneyprincess:
It SO is!!! And POP ROCKS!!! However our Queen of Pop loves her POR as well :goodvibes

Someone tell me right now to leave my ADR's alone!! Argh, I wish it was time to book FP+! I've switched our date night from Cali Grill to Citricos. I'm excited to visit GF. I've also switched our Rose and Crown ADR to La Hacienda. I also cannot decide if I want to keep our first day breakfast ADR at the Wave. A part of me would like to eat at Pop, get to POFQ and then head to the park.

Why can't I nail down a solid plan? I feel like I'm crazy! :badpc::rolleyes:
Leave your ADRs alone, did that work?? It is the need for perfection..and the itch too switch sneaks up right about the time we think..OK I'm good :rotfl:

Just remember, it's not your fault. It's Disney's for making so many amazingly tempting resorts.
:thumbsup2

I think it is because there isn't anything I can change right now and it gives me something to do... I have never felt this way about a trip! Disney... You making me crazy!!

It looks like your trip isn't too far away. Maybe write a pre-trip report on the DIS.
Great idea!!!!:hyper:

Just as soon as I say I don't have an issues ADR changing, I almost made a change. We have a dinner ADR for our December trip. My favorite thing there is the mushroom filet. Well it was before they took it off the menu. I saw a picture of what they have supposedly replaced it with, and it doesn't look nearly as good. In the end, we decided to keep the ADR. Instead of eating an entree, I'm just going to get the cheddar cheese soup, and the mousse off the kids menu.

Just throwing it out there.....The Pas clan AND Janet (with DD)are at AK that day!!!:cool1:
Hi Pas! He gets his cast off July 1st so I'm hoping he will be strong enough to walk. If not, we will get him a wheelchair.

I scrolled back a bunch a didn't see any posts from Missoutandabout. Anyone heard from her? Miss ya girlie!

Hi to everyone else I missed!
Miss is great! We miss her here too, she was in WDW end of April for DD's birthday!!!

YAY for swimming at Disney. It would be good to have the wheelchair for DS, just in case. I wouldn't have survived without my wheelchair. Although I actually removed my cast to swim in December..I am a BAD girl:duck:

Pas, do tell... more info please. :scratchin

Pas130 and Koh1977, I love POP beds, and well, the Deluxes comfort level goes without saying. :cloud9: I personally think Mod beds are the worst on property for comfort. That said, there was a box truck full of new mattresses on the opposite side of the lake at CBR than Pirate Rooms. I think near Aruba. I thought I heard rehab starting of some magnitude. So maybe better mattress quality. Pas: I have my opinions of SDMT, just don't want to spill here. :rolleyes1
The best beds EVER were at the Universal resorts...:duck: I can't wait to hear the thoughts on SDMT, but I totally get why not here

I am not booked at GF RPC, nor do I plan on it anytime soon BUT I've always been able to snag the discounts whether it be AP rate, BB rate or GP rate. Including the time we were walked to YC because they overbooked RPC:furious:

Hi Linda! I'm a Plaza fan, especially in the summer and other warmer months when a light dinner works well! I think it's a great value, and I love a table near the window when it's available. The food isn't the best in the world, but it's a nice spot, especially when compared with the other MK dining options.

But mostly, I love the Plaza because the Mayor of Main Street made our youngest son "Jr. Mayor" once and it was a ton of fun! He received a button, an announcement and a FP for any ride in MK. For some reason, our older boys had been "picked" for various shows (Monsters, Inc. etc.) for a stretch, but not our youngest. Having the Mayor walk in and pick our youngest was an unexpected treat for him!

AWWWWW, sweet! It is understandable why you'd love it!!!:goodvibes

Sorry if I missed anyone :grouphug: and I know we are in the 200s so I will be rev'ing up a spanking new thread very soon!!!

Considering changing from WL to AKL since WL will be under construction at the time of our stay. I just feel like the ambience of the WL Courtyard will be ruined :(

I'm considering the switch to AKL as well but I'm not sure I can get over the location. We want to take breaks (from MK) in the afternoons for our young kids; seems like WL would allow for this but would be a challenge at AKL.

:welcome: to the RC thread!!! AKL is AWESOME! And to me bus rides are no biggie at all. To WDWdadof3 if your trip is MK heavy, I wouldn't necessarily change. Especially given to option of the CR pool...it's a quick easy bus ride IMO! However my kiddos are not pool picky and are happy anywhere. There's so much awesomeness at WL, Bay Lake, the CMs walk to FW...again just an opinion. If I were booked CY view I may try to get Standard or Woods view...but to me the pool doesn't make or break the resort. Where the Poly the construction is everywhere...:duck:

I think its definitely doable, but you will have to decide what is best for your family.

I've heard AKL bus service can be spotty. However that would not deter me from staying there. It's such a beautiful resort! :)

Hello all!
It's been a roller coaster of a week!

First, MM - CONGRATS! I felt bad I couldn't post sooner but am so thrilled for your fam.

To those prepping for their Dis trips, :dance3:
To those coming back or just back, :sad2:

I spent the better part of last week at extra dance practice for DD6's dance recital this past Sat (she rocked it) and prepping for my ILs arrival. We drove out to the beach on Sunday and spent the night (fun!) but on the way back Monday we found out that my grandma passed (sad but she was suffering from dementia and Alzheimer's so also glad she is at peace) and that my MIL's uncle is in convalescent center for cirrhosis of the liver. Yesterday was spent running around trying to coordinate information for both families and since Sunday I have driven almost 750 miles and haven't left the state of Maryland! (well, I did dip into Delaware but only to get back to Maryland from Maryland... crazy state).

Also, DH is starting to talk about where our next move will be and things are totally 180 from what our detailer (guy who finds slots for people) said a few weeks ago. We thought we had the next year mapped out (as much as you can in the military) and now we're back to square one.

All this capped off by confirmation of the pool at WL closing right before our trip. Options to move are thin and not enticing (AKL pool view for $50 more, POR and only save $200 over the week, and BWI for $75 a NIGHT more). DH and I have been back and forth about possibly moving to AKL but I feel like I need to upgrade to animals ($40 a night more) and DD isn't thrilled with the theme and I'm not thrilled with the distance since we'll be toting LO. I have come to accept that the pool issue won't be too bad (CR has a great pool area and we always wanted to scope the resort out) but I am worried about construction noise since LO often naps. We are on woods side but I know how sound can travel.

Top that off with December ADRs being due next week and my ILs giving DH the "whateve ryou think is best" answer... but then hinting they aren't thrilled with what we are saying.

I know it's silly to throw Disney drama in with death and dying but planning trips is a great escape and right now I am having trouble finding the 'fun'. Also, reading some of the people on the WL threads right now made me so frustrated for criticizing those at WL who are in the same spot I am in. I had to hop off the boards for the last 2 days because I was getting too riled up... I am fortunate we can take frequent Disney trips but I know people who save, save, save and plan, plan, plan and this is a huge blow for them. Heck, the irony is I cancelled SoG 2 weeks ago because I've debated trying to just stay there in Sept to save money but a lot of their great rates are gone.

*HUGS* to everyone here :grouphug: and :cheer2: WELCOME to some of the newbies. I'm sorry for the other WLers and Poly people! Hoping that 2015 will bring some amaing resorts and amenities because I SWEAR all these hotels are getting spiffed up this year!

I'm sorry about your grandmother and your mil's uncle. I hope things calm down for you soon.

It appears I have TONS of catching up to do :upsidedow But I did see that Candace is adding another Mouseketter to her family  Very exciting!!! Congrats!

Now back to reading :surfweb:

:wave2: Hi! So nice to "see" you here .... we miss you!

Now that we will be pushed out of AKL due to being a family of five, we are going to do it now!!! Last chance!!! :dance3:

I totally understand that one....welcome to my world  We use to be able to sneak one of the little ones in, but everyone is too big now to sleep 3 in a bed. Look on the bright side...at least the baby will be "free" for a couple of years!!!:cool1:

That pic is so relaxing.

Waiting for more::yes::

If I can ever get my TR going, there will be plenty! Between dad and me, we got around 3200 pics :rolleyes1 .... Crazy but true ::yes::

I'm sorry about your grandmother and your mil's uncle. I hope things calm down for you soon.

Me, too

More of where those came from ;) Doesn't shock you a bit, does it?

:wave2: Hi! So nice to "see" you here .... we miss you!

Ditto here! Miss your posts, Christine. Hope all is well!

Sunday August 24th is a little more up in the air. DD flies home that day .... ME should be picking her up about 2 pm prior to that we will be enjoying SAB! I'll probably do EMH at MK that evening. Any chance you'll be in MK that night?
I forgot at which resorts you were staying, and when. Oooh, we are just across the pond at BWI so maybe somewhere near SAB? We'll already be home by the time you get to MK that evening. :worried:

Just throwing it out there.....The Pas clan AND Janet (with DD)are at AK that day!!!:cool1:
Oh reeeeeaallly? That interesting. :hyper:

I agree. I really like AKL for a pool/relaxation/AKL weekend, but I just can't pull the trigger ever for a Parks-heavy stay. :(

I know it's silly to throw Disney drama in with death and dying but planning trips is a great escape and right now I am having trouble finding the 'fun'.
It keeps us sane. Sorry for all you are going through right now. It's a boatload. Remember, any resort you end up staying will be totally wonderful. I just know the right resort for your family will pop up soon. Are you at the 45 day mark yet? Lots of peeps cancel then. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the link. Food porn excites me. :cool1:

Such a lovely photo. The stress just melts away looking at it. So glad you and your family had a nice time. :goodvibes For some reason, I am looking forward to archery at FWC. Have you ever done while there?

Why, hello there. :cutie:

 Sorry to hear of your Grandma's passing. My one grandmother had dementia too but the finality of death hit me hard. And sometimes vacation planning is a good distraction from reality..heck make that ALL the time. I also am a little frustrated with some the DIS posts. Where has the happiness escaped to? It is hard to swallow all the changes, but they have to get done and the reality is end of August is value season at the deluxes. It is what it is right? Location is so important, in my case it is NOT important to DH so we chose a villa. If VWL was available, trust that is where we would be !

We stayed at the AKL on our last trip. We loved it, especially the pool. We loved it so much we skipped park time to actually spend more time at the resort. I don't remember the buses being an issue at all. Honestly, we had more problems with them at Pop Century than at AKL.
Our longest bus waits were GF and WL, luck of the draw!
