~Our June '09 adventure~ I'm home! Started TR 7/2

Attraction of the Day...

It's A Small World

Okay I have no big memory from here. But..I love waving at the lil' kids who are eating at Pinnochio's and have their noses pressed up against the glass hoping someone would see them. They always light up a big smile and wave back. :goodvibes

IASW ~ I really like this...am I weird? Just going through it and watching the kids faces light up even as little babies just makes my day! My youngest is three now and he LOVES it still. The older kids are at the age where they're starting to hate it. They'd rather be on MTMRR or Everest. I'd better enjoy it...my IASW days are numbered. :rotfl2:

That's so funny about the tails during the Nemo musical. Which I love by the way! I even bought the soundtrack! :goodvibes

I always love seeing the little kids wave to the IASW boats. They get so excited when you wave back.

I know I've posted this several times on the DIS but my memory from IASW is when my dad and I were in Disneyland. We were going along just fine then all of a sudden the boats stop. There were times when we were drifting backwards, then we'd drift forwards again. The CMs kept making announcements saying the ride was going to be starting up soon...at one point they even told people to get back in their boats! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Some people on our boat started singing songs, one guy was saying how that was the 3rd ride out of 4 he'd been on that day that broke down (this was early in the morning! :scared1: ), and some people started looking for hidden Mickeys. But I think one of the best quotes was when this one lady called her daughter's school to say she wasn't going to be there because they were stuck out of town. Needless to say we were stuck on there for close to an hour before we finally were taken off the boats. Thankfully they turned off the song but the dolls were still moving which was kind of creepy. LOL! It was actually quite an experience and we did get a couple of fastpasses out of it!

Hm...Tarzan Rocks was different than Tarzan the Musical, well, of course the musical is a lot longer, but I also felt like Tarzan Rocks was more....energetic than the musical was. Not that the musical wasn't fantastic. I love the music from Tarzan. :)

Memories from IASW...
I remember riding it with my grandparents when I was young. And looking up and waving at the folks eating at Pinocchio's Village Haus. At this point it's a feat to drag the rest of my family on it. :( Last time we were all there I used the old standard "it's just part of Disney! You have to do it!" and that became a sort of inside joke for the rest of the trip, like our own mantra. "Put your shoes on." "It's just part of Disney! You have to do it!" "Please pass the ketchup." "It's just part of Disney! You have to do it!"

It was pretty funny.

IASM: DS picked this ride to ride. It was his first WDW trip, his first time on this ride. We tried to name all the countries as we went through. We got to the end and DS says, "See. I KNEW this would be a good one.":goodvibes

Haha, no you're not weird. Oh man, the older kids are starting to hate it? Then, soak it up while you can!

Haha, how fun though you got to "bond" with random people. And that's so funny when that lady called her daughter's school because they were "stuck" out of town. :rotfl: And fastpasses?! Awesome! :thumbsup2

My favourite memory of IASW is of my whole family on it when my brother and I were in our pre-teens. The ride makes me mom cry (in a good way LOL) and both of us were so embarrassed that we were sitting there scowling at her.:rotfl: We must have looked hilarious, one mother crying, two kids with angry faces and one father pretending he wasn't related.:rotfl2:

When we got off, my brother and I swore we would never ride it again with DM.

Of course, I have ridden with her on every trip since but... who has any idea what they're talking about when they're 12, hmm?:lmao:

IASW - OK, I admit. I enjoy this ride!

Memories: whenever we have gone to WDW w/ my grandparents, my grandmother would insist on eating at Pinocchio's at least 2-3 times every trip. She would get the table in front of the window, and we would wave to each boat as they went by (and yes we did this when I was 2 1/2, but even on their last trip - I was 24!)

Hopefully, they will be joining us on a trip soon!

Attraction of the Day...

Nemo the Musical

It was our first time doing this after it opened..We got in line early and ended up getting a good seat! Okay, so the show's going and we're all just in awe. Then the people come out in the aisles with the long stick things and they swing around the jellyfish with long tails. Well, we were close to one of the aisles so we were turning around looking at the guy in our aisle and see this: the guy two rows behind us on the end was getting hit by the tail everytime it was swung around! His family was laughing so hard. Finally after the 3rd time of getting hit, he decided to duck the next time. :lmao:

haha thats funny! I can't wait to see that show.. its one of my fav. disney movies. i love dory!

Also.. I seen on your countdown that its 4 months exactly today! Yippy! Another month down... only 4 more to go.. pff! hehe :goodvibes

4 months!!!! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

My favorite IASW memory would probably be from our last trip, in 2007. It was our first day at the Magic Kingdom and IASW was empty. I didn't want to go on it but my dad said he wanted to go on it so we all had to, and he dragged us all on it. This was the guy who said he wasn't even sure about going down to Florida in the first place, and now he was dragging ME on IASW, of all things. It's such a funny memory! :goodvibes:

My very first Disney memory is from this ride! I actually rode it in Disneyland as a baby but I was too little to remember, but we went to WDW when I was 3 and I have a vivid memory of it because it was the very first Disney ride I was really old enough to appreciate. I loved the music and the bright colors, I was in awe of it and my grandpa was there videotaping. My mouth is wide open in the entire video, I was just staring not making a peep! From then on, it was the very first thing we rode every trip as kids.

I know this ride annoys a lot of people (including my DF, who kindly rides with me every time anyways) but it will always hold a place in my heart.

i have no memories of it's a small world because i always end up like this when i ride it.........

seriously, my favorite memory is riding it when my sister was a year old and watching her little face - she loved that ride!

I've seen that the Disneyland one has you getting on the ride outside...is that right?

I love doing this too! It's so cute to see their faces! :goodvibes

Once, during MNSSHP, we had a young male Asian CM who was waving the boats off. He was really into it, dancing and waving his arms back and forth through the air. He even had a white towel that he kept pulling out to wipe the "sweat" from his brow. It was hilarious! :rotfl2: We rode it three times just so that he could wave us off! :lmao:

Also, it's tradition for us to call any family members who might be missing (basically my brothers, dad, or uncle) and hold the phone up so they can hear the song playing in the background. They hate IASW because of the song, so we always tell them that we wanted to make sure they didn't miss out on their favorite part of the park. :rolleyes1

Wake up, Dawn! You're missing it all!!! :rotfl:

Since Dawn did it, I hope it's okay for me to post a picture (or two), too.

Both of mine are, not surprisingly, Brooklynn stories.

My favorite Small World memory is her first ride on it.

Her little head just bobbed back and forth taking it all in.

Nemo is fun. So bright and colorful. The puppeteers are interesting to watch. Our first time to see the show, Brooklynn was less than two. When Dory went down, she puckered up and was very worried about her fish friend. We assured her Dory would get up momentarily and she'd be just fine. Brooklynn gave us a not so confident smile through worried, almost teary eyes. I think she wanted to believe us, but she wasn't quite sure. We thought she was way too small to have emotions like that or an understanding of what was going on, but she sure did.

erica and i haven't gotten to that part in our TR yet but i couldn't resist.

i also love watching kids on the ride. especially the little ones. their faces just light up!!! those pics of brooklynn remind me so much of brooke (my sister) the first time she rode it. she was around the same age. her eyes were just SO BIG and she was just amazed. so cute!
