Check-in:We arrived on Sunday around 3PM. My DH began to walk over to the main lobby and I remembered seeing posts about the DVC check in so I steered him in the other direction. The DVC check in area had no line so we walked right up to the counter and checked in with no issues. Our 2BR room was ready when we got there. This was the first time we have ever had a room ready upon arrival !!

Room: Our room (301) was located in the wing closest to the main lobby. The location was very good, but our view was of the main entrance so we saw a lot of taxis and buses.:sad1: We found the room to be very clean. I've seen threads about the new pull out beds but I wasn't quite sure what people were talking about until now. Those beds were great !!

Pool: A couple of months before we left we received a letter from MS telling us that the slide at SAB was going to be closed from 5/5 - 5/11. Our kids were very disappointed (as were we) that they would only get 1 afternoon (our arrival day) on the slide there. The slide closed on Monday (as scheduled), but we were pleasantly surprised to see it re-open as early as Wednesday. It was only closed for 2 days !!

Weather: We couldn't have asked for anything nicer. We didn't see 1 drop of rain all week. The temp was in the mid 80s and it was very comfortable.

Crowds / Parks: Aside from a few of the major attractions (Soarin, EE, TT) the lines were at most 15-20 minutes on most rides. We were able to walk on quite a number of rides as well. On Wednesday 5/7 around 2pm my DH and DS9 walked onto Rock 'n' Rollercoaster and they repeated this 2 more times since there was no wait. We had some first time experiences on this trip: finally saw the Jammin Jungle Parade at AK, the new parade at DHS (I still call it MGM), and Finding Nemo - The Musical.

Dining: We had 6 different TS ADRs. (1 bkfst, 5 dinner)
Day 1: Spoodles: Worst experience of the week. Our ADR was for 5:25 but Spoodles had us listed for 6:55 - not sure how this happened. We arrived at 5:25 but the hostess wasn't very accommodating to try to seat us any earlier than 6:55. I understand mistakes can happen, but her attitude just made it worse. Once we did end up sitting down, the food was just OK.

Day 2: Le Cellier: First time there. We have read quite a bit so we were expecting good things. They certainly lived up to our expectations. Everyone ordered the filet. It was excellent !! We sat right down, service was excellent, food was delicious !!

Day 3: Kona: Second time there - won't be our last. It was just as good as our first visit. DH had the Mahi-Mahi and I had the filet.

Day 4: Cape May Cafe (BKFST) - Character breakfast in our hotel - convenient and the selection at the buffet was great. Very good character interaction.

Day 4: Wolfgang Puck Cafe: Second time there. Food was very good but alcohol was pricey ($15 for a glass of wine!). I had the pumpkin ravioli with chicken last time and I had to have it again. YUM !! The mud pie for dessert was the size of a brick - it was huge !!

Day 5: Chef Mickey: The food was OK. We went for the character experience. It was as expected.

Overall Impressions: BCV is a great resort. Aside from our view, we really liked everything else about our experience there. We loved the proximity to Epcot. The back pathway makes the trip even shorter. SAB was a lot of fun and we're glad we got to spend some time enjoying it. We highly recommend the Captain's Mai Tai at Hurricane Hannah's. ;) The weather was great. The crowds were light. Can't wait until our next trip.....

Sounds like you had a great trip! Was this your first stay at BC/YC/BCV? How would you rank it in your preference list?

One more question... What type of 2 bedroom did you have? (Lock-off, Dedicated with 2 queens in the second bedroom or Dedicated with queen and sleeper sofa in the second bedroom)

Hi!
We overlapped a day, I checked out of BCV on the 5th. I agree about the great weather that the early part of May had this year! We also ate at LeCellier and had a excellent meal there on this trip! I'm glad you had a great time at BCV!

Yes, it was our first stay at BCV (and/or YC/BC).....I made the reservation at the 7 month mark and we had a dedicated 2BR with the Queen/pullout in the 2nd BR. My mother and my aunt came with us so we used both pullouts (I'm assuming they're new b/c I've never seen the attached-all-in-one cushions before)

Your preference question is a tough one. We love our 2 resort "homes" and have also stayed at BWV and WL (hotel, before buying DVC). We definitely love the EPCOT resorts. If I had to rank them I'd say:
AKV (theming and relaxing feeling)
BWV/BCV (tie for location)
SSR (love it -but easier to get a reservation)
VWL (love the theming, too, but AK and EPCOT are my fav. parks)
OKW (only b/c we haven't stayed there yet)

We are trying to decide if we should do a small add on at BCV or BWV.

Thanks for the answer. It was definitely room 301 right? End room on the third floor? Over the past few years I had been on a quest to find all the dedicated 2 bedrooms w/2 Q's. There were 2 rooms that I was still questioning, one was room 301 (the other is 304). All 2 Q rooms, up until now, were dedicated two bedrooms that did not have a balcony in the second bedroom. Below is a pic of the outside of room 301, the first three windows. From looking at this you should have only had one balcony in the living room.

Yes, Room 301...last villa on the hall on the left. Your picture is indeed the outside of the villa that we stayed in. As I said, we loved the location of the room (right near the BC, short walk to SAB, close to the bus stop and close to that back walkway to EPCOT). I think the pros of the location outweigh the con of looking out over the main driveway. We did not venture into the DVC building an farther than our room - it seems like some rooms are quite a hike back to the main building.

So, is there a new check-in for BCV that I haven't heard about...We will be staying there in October and have always registered at the main hotel.

If you arrive between 8 AM and 6 PM, you can go directly to the villa building, and check in there. It's very convenient, and you will be hearing Warm Welcomes as you come and go throughout your stay!

It just goes to show that this board is so informative! I had read about the DVC check-in desk a few months ago and it was so convenient plus there was nobody waiting in line - we walked right up....I can only imagine what the line would have been like in the main lobby. It's true, Bobbi, the CMs in the DVC lobby were very warm and friendly each day. :goodvibes

Thanks for the report....

OP...is the Macadamian Crusted Mahi Mahi on the menu...I thought they took it off....glad to hear it is still there.

Sounds like you had a perfect little vacation! On to planning the next one! I love Le Cellier, can't wait for June!

Yes, I double checked with my DH....it was the Macadamian Crusted Mahi Mahi that he had at Kona. (I love Kona  )

Le Cellier was fabulous....at first I was skeptical b/c my DH kept telling me it was one of the most popular/hardest ADR to get in WDW but I'm not a big "red meat" person. That filet was incredible:worship:! We had the DDP so I had the s'mores for dessert, again wonderful :cloud9: .

This was a short, activity-packed trip. I'm really looking forward to our trip in late September....we have 1 park day left on 10-day non-exp. passes with 5 water park/fun passes. We are going to use that park day to do F&W at EPCOT then do the water parks, Disney Quest and buy tix to MNSSHP on another night. We'd love to see La Nouba (never been). Perhaps it will be more relaxing (doesn't sound it as I'm reading what I'm typing :confused3 )
