Our first trip and our honeymoon at Disney World, what could go wrong?

Okay, lets get this TR rolling again, shall we?

So DH had set the alarm the night before to wake us at 7am. This was supposed to be the day we went to Islands of Adventure and we should have gone to Universal the day before but because of the drama and getting to Orlando when we did we decided to postpone Islands until the end of our trip.
Okay anyway, alarm goes off and I groan right away and so don't want to get out of bed. DH of course says we don't have to go, but I feel so bad already and I promised him we would get to the Universal parks. I drag myself out of bed, and I do mean drag, it was not a pretty sight. :scared: I would say finally around 8am I get into the shower, around 8:30 or so I start doing makeup and getting dressed and around 9:30 or so I convince myself I look decent enough. Now just so you know, normally I'm super quick at getting ready but the bronchitis was really slowing me down. I actually felt like I was moving in slow motion and if I did something to quick I would get winded and start coughing like crazy so I literally was moving like molasses. :sad2: So I finally get it together and we sit down to eat some of the comlimentary food they have at the hotel in the morning. We leave the hotel at about 10:15am and the park has been open already for an hour and fifteen minutes. :sad2: Trust me when I say this was the standard morning for most of the trip, pathetic I know. :sad2:

So we are off and driving and finally we see this

http://

And soon after that

http://

Already DH and I are in awe, it's soooooo much cooler then Universal Hollywood. The parking system they have is so much easier then ours and way less stressful. And the moving walkways they have

http://

are just awesome! So after getting through bag check, yes they check you before even getting onto citywalk ::yes:: we finally arrive and we are even more overwhelmed. It's just huge, we already love it.

http://

http://

We make our way towards Universal, which is a long walk and finally we get to the ball.

http://

Then finally we get to the entrance, well almost but close enough

http://

DH gets free tickets to Universal Hollywood and the policy is you can transfer them to Universal Orlando tickets if you are going to be visiting so that is what he had done back at home. Good thing to because tickets are expensive, pretty soon they will be right up there with the Disney parks. LOL

We get into the park and it's already lunch time and we are hungry but I'm determined to get some stuff done before we eat. Thankfully the weather was nice this day, not humid at all and kinda cool and breezy. That was helping me out alot in terms of being able to rush around the park.

Now I don't exactly remember what we did first because DH and I couldn't believe our eyes once inside the park. It is so nice and the park layout is so relaxing and easy to walk around because of the space. We spent a fair amount of time just looking around and comparing the parks. This is what we must have looked like to other people. :hyper2: Here are some pictures while we were walking around.

http://

http://

Continued in next post, I reached my picture limit......

http://

http://

http://

Then out of the corner of my eye I see them. Who you ask? Well the penguins from Madagascar of course. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE did I mention I love the penguins. They are so cute. So DH and I get in line and soon I have my photo.

http://

This was a real treat for me to because I can never, ever find all of the penguins together at one time in Hollywood.

So we do a bit more walking around and some shopping. DH can use his employee discount in Florida so that meant I could buy a bunch of cool souvenirs at a great price. :cool1: We then decide to head over to my all time favorite Universal ride.

http://

I was so mad  when Hollywood got rid of ours. I know it's an old ride but it's so cute, at least to me it is.

After ET we exit in time to see some dance show going on with some characters. I only have a couple of pictures because after watching for a minute we deemed it a strange show::yes:: and walked away.

http://

http://

Then it was off to the Animal Actors Stage Show. We have this show in Hollywood also but I love animals so I really wanted to see it. I was surprised to find out that the shows are pretty much identical, I would have thought they would be different. DH got a cool shot of the hawk flying down to the stage, I swear that thing came inches from his head.

http://

Then I all about flipped out because they brought out Frank from Men In Black, you know that adorable puggy if you saw the movies. He is just the cutest and I love pugs so my heart melted. He is even wearing his little suit outfit.

http://

After the show I'm pretty sure we decided to eat but I have no idea what it was or where it was. I have no pictures and even DH could not remember. O'well must not have been that great. :rotfl:

Sometime later we approached the Simpsons ride but we decided to pass on it since we have both been on it numerous times at home. The front of the ride is pretty much decorated like ours is and it really is a great ride, totally worth waiting in line for at least once.

http://

So we headed over to the MIB alien attack ride. I was really looking forward to this and excited to ride it. Here are some pics while we are in line, the cue line is set up really well.

Continued in next post, hit my pic limit again........

http://

http://

http://

http://

http://

The ride was really cool and I think it's lotsa fun. You try to shoot the aliens and the cars spin, really fast at points throughout the ride. DH said he didn't like it to much and had a hard time hitting the objects. I think he was just mad that I had a better score then him. :rotfl2:

After that we made our way over to

http://

We used to have this show in Hollywood as well but they got rid of it also. It's
fairly entertaining but I will say that when the Hollywood show was running it was way better there. Orlando seems to have changed certain aspects of it and not for the better. All and all it's still entertaining. Here are a couple of pics.

http://

http://

Up next we decide to head over here

http://

I have heard mixed reviews on this attraction but DH and I thought it was fun and entertaining. I guess as long as the employees choose fun and cool people to be in the show that makes it worth while. We thankfully had really fun people in the show.

After that we headed over to

http://

JAWS!!!!!

It was cool. We only have jaws on the backlot studio tour and it's not really that great, but here you are in a boat in the water and jaws gets pretty darn close. We thought it was cool and had some good laughs. I don't have any pics because our tour guide told DH to put the camera away, I still don't know why, I think he was just crabby that day.

So by now it's around 3pm or so and the park closed at 6pm so we are trying to hustle as much as possible but I'm beginning to get really tired and I've already had to use my inhaler three times. I tell DH that I think I can make it to park close and lets just keep going, so that's what we did. Here are some more random photos as we moved along.

http://

Continued AGAIN in next post. LOL I sure do have alot of pics don't I?

http://

http://

And my personal favorite!

http://

http://

We finally made our way over here

http://

This was another attraction that had mixed reviews and DH and I didn't know what to expect from it. We both saw the movie and really liked it so we figured the attraction would be cool. This is what the que line looked like.

http://

http://

Then this was inside the stage area, very cool it was set up just like in the movie.

http://

http://

Overall DH and I were impressed with the effects. The wind picks up so much in there that I actually stumbled and fell back a bit. I don't think I would wait in a long line to go on it again but it is good to do at least once.

After that we caught a little bit of these guys.

http://

DH loves them and they are pretty fun to dance around to.

Then it was off to another one of our favs

http://

DH and I love this ride, it's so much fun. Now since we had been trying to focus on doing stuff that Universal Hollywood doesn't have it was at first a toss up if we wanted to stand in line for the mummy or not, but upon approaching the que line it had only a 10min wait. :yay: So off we went. I'm soooooooo glad we did because Orlando's mummy ride it FREAKIN AWESOME!!!!!! It's totally different from Hollywoods and so much better. Again DH and I in a state of shock exit the ride in disbelief. I now to this day cannot go on the mummy ride at home and feel the same way about it, I immediately think of the one in Orlando. Here is the photo I took of our ride photo. We are in the second row.

http://

After that it was more walking around and seeing the sights, I think DH and I had done everything at that point that we could because the park was closing. So here are even more pictures around the park.

Continued in the next post of course. LOL

http://

http://

http://

http://

So as we made our way to the front of the park and the exit, we stopped in some of the shops and browsed. I also wanted to go into the I love Lucy tribute because I'm a fan of hers. It was really cool they had alot of old props from the show and some of her clothes and jewelry. They even had old letters and mail that were hers. I thought it was a nice tribute and a good way to wind down the day. We exited the park and I had to get another pic of the ball at night.

http://

DH wanted to walk around city walk for awhile and as much as I was dying by now and really wanted to go back to the hotel, I obliged for a bit. It had gotten surprisingly chilly out and it was not helping my sickness at all. So we walked and walked and walked, good lord the place is huge and it goes around in a giant circle. We did a bit more shopping and I made it about half way around city walk and then I was just to pooped to pop anymore. Again I felt so bad because under normal circumstances DH and I would have gone out to dinner and had some drinks and just partied the night away but I just couldn't do it no matter how much I wanted to. So we leave and on the way back to the hotel we stop at taco bell and get some dinner. Sheesh, what a honeymoon! :lmao: I think I seriously ended up going to bed that night at around 10pm if not earlier. :sad2:

So my overall thoughts on our first real day of the honeymoon.

It was actually pretty good and we had alot of fun. DH and I really like Universal Orlando and it takes the prize over Hollywood, at least for us. As far as we are concerned they deserve this :worship: So other then the being to tired to go on and still feeling pretty sick I give the day a B+ at least.

I hope I didn't overload anyone on photos, I'm a picture girl I take pics of everything so you can expect tons more as this TR goes on.

Well anyway thanks to everybody who is following along and reading this, I really do hope your enjoying it.

Next installment: We check into a Disney resort and we go to our first Disney park. :woohoo:

Okay so the plan was to wake up early, eat something and head over to Disney's Port Orleans French Quarter resort and check in so we could get our tickets and head over to a park. Well that happened but not early in the morning. When the alarm went off at 7am (this seemed to be the chosen time for us to try and get up) I refused to move. I was completely exhaused after Universal. I guess I pushed my body before it was ready. So not only was I drained but I now had developed a hacking cough that even scared me. :scared: It was the kind of cough that makes everyone around you turn to look and then slowly move away from you. So I finally got up and got ready, it was now around 10am. We check out of the hotel and step out into the Florida sunshine and HUMIDITY! UGH! It was horrible, not so much hot but pretty humid. I could already tell I would be using my inhaler alot today. DH wanted to stop and get some food but I just wanted to get to POFQ already so that is where we headed. Poor hubby, now he was starving because of me. :rolleyes1 We did actually share some of this though on the way.

http://

Not the best thing to eat for breakfast but is sure did taste good.

After just a little bit of time on the road we happily saw this.

http://

Now I understand that happy giddy feeling you guys get when you go under those glorious arches. And the funny part was I suddenly felt like I had all the energy in the world. I mean I still felt sick but I was ready to tackle Walt Disney World with everything I had. I guess I was feeling the effects of pixie dust already.

So we make our way over to POFQ and the first thing we see when we pull in is this.

http://

That got us even more excited for our cruise that we would be on in a couple of days. We park the car and all about skip to the lobby of the resort, and realize we are officially enveloped in the happy go lucky disney magic all around us. There was no line at all when we reached the lobby and walked right up to a cast member, I wish I could remember her name because she was just lovely. She talked to us forever about our wedding and the honeymoon and was telling us all about the resort and things that we should try to see and do. It was really nice and we appreciated her being very helpful. We got all our stuff, including these

http://

and then headed over to the concierge desk to add some more days to our park tickets since we had 4 day park hoppers and we would be returning to the parks after the cruise. After that we headed over to the Cruise line check in desk and gave them all our information and paperwork so we did not have to bother with it when we arrived at the port. Disney really does make everything so easy for you. :thumbsup2

We were assigned building 3 room number 3140, it was on the bottom floor (I was very thankful for that) and it was right on the corner of the building when you walked to it from the parking lot. Very easy access and fairly close to everything. Upon entering the room we quickly realized it was a handicap room. It also had a king size bed. Now I had heard on the boards that if you wanted a king size bed you had to ask for it in advance and just hope you get it. I had not called in advance and was not expecting to get one so regardless of it being a handicap room I was very happy. I did wonder though if somebody just messed up and gave it to us by accident. :scratchin

Here is DH showing his love of the bed already.

http://

And here we are being goofy. :goofy:

http://

So after we get settled and I took some more meds, we decide to head off to Epcot for awhile. Now I know you might be thinking, why not go to the Magic Kingdom first and I can honestly say I have no idea. O'well, off to Epcot we go and after another short drive we arrive.

I was in awe just of the entrance, it's just huge and I can't get over all the land and space and everything just looks beautiful. Here are some pics I took of us getting there.

http://

http://

http://

http://

I told DH that all of Disneyland would probably fit in just the Epcot parking lot alone. Seriously I could not believe my eyes, I was already in love with the place and had not even entered the park yet.

Coming up soon my friends DH and I enter Epcot for the first time!

I love your TR and your photos. Keep them coming. We are going to Orlando next year, and I think we are going to take a couple of days and visit Universay and IOA. It has been years since we have been there, and have made me excited to see the new stuff.

Wow, how romantic it is. :love2: We also did our first trip and our honeymoon at WDW. It's really a very romantic and memorable moment in our lives. Great for me to remember it. :)

Thank you so much, I'm glad you are enjoying it!

I'm sure if you get to Universal and IOA you will have a great time.

aaawww.....you two are so cute!

I am looking forward to reading more.

:goodvibes More is coming right up!

Wow, how romantic it is. :love2: We also did our first trip and our honeymoon at WDW. It's really a very romantic and memorable moment in our lives. Great for me to remember it. :)

Yes Disney World is a very romantic place and even though DH and I got off to a rough start, we really did have a fabulous time.

Okay so we arrive at the gate and DH is talking to me but I don't hear anything he says because I'm to busy in my own little world looking around and so I don't even hear him. Finally he yells my name and I come to and he then tells me I look like a kid in a candy store for the first time. :lmao: So first things first, we are both officially STARVING, sherbert only holds you over for so long and it is now close to 1 in the afternoon. We decided to go to this place since it was the closest thing to us.

http://

No pictures of the food, but it was only burgers and fries. After we stuffed ourselves we made our way over to Spaceship Earth.

http://

http://

http://

We liked the ride and thought it was really cute how it builds your future for you. After that we made our way over to Test Track.

http://

The wait time said 30min so we decided to get in the line. That was the longest 30min of our lives. It was more like an hour if not more. Now I'm sorry but that is my one Disney pet peeve, when the standby line wait times are not accurate. It happens at Disneyland all the time when we go and it seriously drives me crazy. Anyway at least the que line was somewhat entertaining and DH even found a hidden Mickey.

http://

Pretty soon we were on the ride and then off the ride. It was awesome and we loved it, here is our ride photo. DH was taking a picture of something so you can't really see him.

http://

After we got off Test Track hubby wanted to go and check out Mission Space. Now I had done alot of research on this ride and I was positive I did not want to ride the orange side (intense), I didn't really want to ride the green side either. It's not that I get sick on rides that spin, because I don't I actually love them, but when it's a simulator type of ride and it spins, then I will get sick. So DH finally convinces me to go on the green side, here are some pics.

http://

http://

http://

And another hidden mickey!

http://

I was so nervous in that little capsule but I managed to calm myself down and ended up enjoying the ride. I could only imagine what it's like on the orange side. DH really wanted to try it and I told him to go, that I had no problem waiting for him but he didn't want to leave me alone. Awwww!

After that we just kinda walked around for a bit and found ourselves in front of this.

http://

Neither DH or I have any comments about this ride except for interesting, kinda boring and it was a good place to just take a break and relax. By the time we got out of there it was already dark outside and we were trying to decide what to do next. We ended up going into some of the stores and I saw the bride and groom ears so we bought them and a bunch of other stuff. After shopping we had decided not to visit the World Showcase today so we headed over to the Journey into Imagination ride. Some pics along the way.

Cont. in next post..........

http://

http://

http://

It was pretty slow when we arrived at the ride load area so the cast member was talking to us and offered to take our photo.

http://

DH and I thought it was a fairly cute ride, I would never stand in a long line to go on it that's for sure but we had a good time. After the ride we took some more pics and played around in the activity area.

http://

http://

http://

http://

After playing around for a bit we decided to head on out of Epcot and go over to Downtown Disney to eat dinner and walk around. As we are leaving the park DH decides to get some artsy shots and we also spot a photopass person.

http://

http://

http://

So we get back to the car and soon we are pulling into Downtown Disney.

http://

Again I was amazed just from the small section I was already seeing as we looked for a parking spot. Puts our Downtown Disney to shame. We finally find a spot and start walking around. I don't even think we covered half of the place before I was already getting tired. I kept having to use my inhaler also and I was coughing alot. So we decided to eat at Fulton's Crab House, the employees there were so sweet and everybody was wishing us congrats even the patrons. And the food was really yummy. Some pics for your enjoyment of our dinner and walking around Downtown Disney.

We walked around for awhile until I finally had no energy left. DH and I really wanted to spend more time there and we had planned to come back later in the trip but unfortunately we never did. :sad2: So we bid farewell to Downtown Disney and made our way back to the hotel, we arrived and got settled and it was around midnight. We both snuggled up and blissfully drifted off to sleep.

Overall thoughts for this day. Wonderful! DH and I loved Epcot and Downtown Disney and we can't wait to visit both again.

Next installment will be all about the Magic Kingdom! :cool1:

I'm really enjoying this trip report :) Looks like you had a wonderful time.

I'm enjoying your trip report. I'm sorry you were so sick. It must have been so scary for you not to be able to breath and also worrying if you could actually go on the trip.

I'm looking forward to more, and the cruise. I hope you're feeling better.

Nora

Totally Tink--yes I loved the Halloween theme wedding too..way cool :)

KittyKat08, I'm loving your TR so far, and your pictures! I'm going to make Bill take a look, so he can see how cool Universal looks. We have to make time to get there one of these trips! I hope your asthma gave you a break at some point during your trip...
