monday: Eating In Epcot!
I confess that I have been a busy girl and have not had a chance to get back to this thread in a week or two! But i'm back......
Tuesday we had big plans for Epcot. It started out so well, we had a yummy counter service
breakfast at Captain Cook's (Polynesian). I have to confess that we became addicted to that place! Glad it is so many miles from home or I might gain about 100 lbs a year !
For breakfast, we decided to get some things to share- which was our basic CS strategy in all of Disney. We love to eat, but we also were trying to not come home from WDW without fitting into our pants, and wanted to make the most of trying different places. That morning, We got a breakfast sandwich for DH, Croissant Breakfast Sandwich - Scrambled Eggs, bacon, and Cheddar Cheese on a croissant- He thought it was quite tasty and snarfed it down

I got a kid's breakfast scramble which consisted of egg whites, little ham pieces and cheese. DS had the kid's French toast and we got fruit and yogurt with the kids's meals.
As for the egg white scramble, Honestly it was sort of blah, but was the protein my body needed to go along with my TONGA TOAST. Yum! I got the toast only, which was just 5.19 for a giant piece of tasty bread stuffed with bananas, then deep fried and dipped in cinnamon sugar. It was super super yum! One of those things that I could eat every day and am still fondly in remembrance of. I only shared a tiny piece with ds and dh (and didn't have a chance to take pics
In fact, I found this recipe online, and I just might have to make it one of these days...

Off to EPCOT. We had an early dinner reservation at Garden Grill so we were thinking we would do a few snacks around the world showcase to hold us over.
Well. This was one of those days when "when it rains, it pours" was fitting. It rained like a monsoon that day and we ended up missing out on pretty much the entire world showcase. This wasn't the typical Disney rain, it was horribly drenching, everything packed up and closed up, rain. So....we made it to Mexico. We basically decided to make a detour for a quick meal more out of frustration and needing a place to sit down (we spent over an hour in the Duffy store just biding our time hoping it would calm down if that gives a description). Enough about that...
La Cantina de San Angel
Mexico - World Showcase - Epcot
We shared 2 meals -
Tacos de Carne - smoked beef brisket tacos served on fresh handmade corn tortillas with Pico de Gallo, lime and corn tortilla chips
- these were really tasty- basically chunks of brisket on mini corn tortillas, served with chips. It came with 3 so we each got one.
Nachos - corn tortilla chips with ground beef, nacho cheese, fresh tomatoes, jalapenos, black beans, and sour cream
- this was sort of eh- basically chips with the orange nacho type cheese. We love queso and regular melted cheese nachos, but if we hadn't been hungry , this probably would not have been eaten. it did have a TON of cheese and other toppings.
Dinner was as planned at the Garden Grill. Our TA convinced us to try this restaurant as it is one of her favorites. If you are going to do this dinner , you absolutely MUST ride "Living with the Land" which travels under the restaurant and you can see lots of food that you'll be eating in the greenhouses and even watch the fish swimming!
This restaurant was neat, it rotates, really slowly through the different environments. I know some people say they get motion sickness , but honestly it moves REALLY slowly. Not something we could even tell until you looked up and the wall looked different than last time you saw it. Picture a gigantic carousel with the kitchen in the center surrounded with tables where the horses would be. The very outside wall is what changes for you as the restaurant moves.
Dinner started out with this tasty salad....... Harvest Salad. I can't remember exactly what the dressing was like- I feel like it was a buttermilk ranch? it wasn't heavy and was pre-tossed. Topped with lots of yumminess as pictured. They also brought rolls which I didn't try but DH is a big roll eater so of course he had them. Nothing super exciting, but they had maple butter.
Then they started bringing the main course!Dinner at Garden Grill is family style- all you can eat- So they bring a starter platter, and then keep bringing more upon request. There are three meats and sides, which change seasonally and often.
The night we ate there, we had tilapia, beef and turkey breast accompanied by Roasted veggies, Mashed potatoes and dressing. It was all super tasty and fresh. We ended up getting another portion of beef because it was just so good.
They also bring out a kid's platter :
- chicken legs, mac and cheese, broccoli and sweet potato fries! I have to confess that I ate some of all this too! My DD LOVED the mac and cheese- we got another big bowl of it to the table after she finished the small bowl. She's a big eater!
This is a character meal, so we got to meet Farmer Mickey, Chip and Dale and Pluto
After we stuffed ourselves with all the tasty foods, dessert arrived! They brought both an "adult" and "kid" version.
Berry harvest skillet dessert with vanilla whipped cream
and these tasty cupcakes with chocolate frosting!
In general , we really loved Garden Grill. One thing I really liked about it was that although it was a character meal, it was not a buffet and we got to sit down more than in the usual character buffets which tend to be sort of exhausting with 2 young kids! The food was all very fresh and tasty and we could get more if we wanted it so it was a great place to plan for a filling dinner. Dinner includes non-alcoholic beverages of choice as well. The only thing that I didn't like is that the tables are sort of small for a family of 4 with all that food! We would dine there again for sure! Yum! I also loved how it tied in to the Land ride below the restaurant.
