I read on this forum about saving change and thought it was a great idea. I went to a craft store and bought a 5.5x7" mug to put between our two sinks where my husband empties his pockets after work. I also bought a small booklet of Tinkerbell stickers to decorate it :)

This is the beginning of our Disney Fund for next year :) lol. As you can see, we have a long way to go. :rotfl: The change in it came out of my 6 year old's piggy bank :)

Very cute!! I would not be good at a change jar, every time my ds wanted to go get a slurpee or I was desperate for coffee money, "poof" it'd be gone! :rotfl:

Awesome! My DH doesn't like to carry change so when he comes home he puts his change in a jar right away. Usually we get about $100 per trip of just spare change :)

thanks. i posted this before i knew there was an existing thread already.

we are going to try to not tap in to the jar :) lol but no promises :)

We have a spare change piggy bank that my DH empties his pockets into each day. Actually, we have TWO. One is for quarters and the other is for smaller coins. The only difference between your spare change receptacle and ours is that ours are for our DD (11 month old) college fund.

DH says the small change bank is the "Community College" fund and the quarter bank is the "College" fund.:rotfl:

Love, love, love the Tinkerbell stickers.

we do the same thing, except with a small water bottle- 1 gal size. then a month before we leave, our 2 DS's dump it all out and wraps it. We then take it to the bank to cash it in and the boys get to keep it for souvenir money or arcade money.

someone in another thread suggested buying disney gift cards for kiddos to use at the parks once the change is counted at the bank. i love that idea as that way we don't have to have the kids mess with cash and they will have a fixed amt. to spend.

We have an old sweetie jar (large shop size) that we throw all f our change in each night. everything except £1 coins goes in. We average £300 - £400 a year!!!

I tried to save change for years, but hubby would sneak money out of it.

I finally started keeping the change in snack baggies and I have a square of paper where I keep track of how much is in each bag (bag for quarters, bag for dimes, etc etc). Then I roll the change when it reaches a roll. There has been no change theft since then.

I'm my own worst enemy! raiding the bucket. :sad2: never the change, always the bills in the bucket. (darn you starbucks addiction! LOL)
so, I started a "Disney" bank account. Instead of having paper money in the bucket where I have access to it, I tuck it away in the bank account. easy way to watch it add up and it's harder to use it!
Now to get enough change in the bucket to roll up & add to the Disney fund!

That's why we use a box. I tape it shut all around, cut a piggy bank style hole in the top, cover it with scrap paper (so I can see if anyone's been trying to get in it) and then decorate it. We don't open it until it's time to go to the bank because it's too much of a pain to tape it and redecorate it again :rotfl:

Loce it, it's adorable! :-) I do the same with my Smurf piggy bank. at the end of every week and any time there are coins in my pocket it goes in my piggy bank. Adds up quicker than I thought. Also I designate $30 of every paycheck to be automatically deposited to my "Secret Disney Savings" account at the bank. *L* Also adds up very quickly.

We save change also! But, I have to put it somewhere it will be safe!:scared1:Or, change may disappear!

We use a Disney popcorn bucket but it never gets more than 1/3 full because the kids are always taking the change. :rotfl2: I need something that we can't get into.
