During our trip to WDW (11/10 - 17), we had dinner one evening before FITS at LTT. We had eaten there only once before and thoroughly enjoyed it. This time was no disappointment.

We made what we thought was an early PS, but when we arrived, the place was packed. We managed to snag a seat on a bench, but we failed to heed the primary rule at WDW: always, always, always visit the restroom BEFORE heading for your meal! :p So DW headed upstairs to the ladies room. I wouldn't see her again for a LONG time. (Long story-short version: a very young lady was "stuck" and needed her mother's help, but mom was downstairs well out of earshot. It took some time and a lot of magic to find her, reunite mon with DD and help DD finish up.)

I really love how you are called to dinner. The thus and such family from the territory of Illinois. Well, technically IL didn't really exist then so they stretched things a little for us.

Dinner began with a lovely salad served with a delightful strawberry vinagrette dressing. I am usually not a fan of vinagrettes, but this dressing was wonderful. It was light, meaning it did not mask the taste of the greens. It had a tart and a sweet side to it as the same time, which was a nice surprise with each bite. Both DW and I appreciated that the salad was not drowning in this dressing; it was an appropriate amount without leaving a pool in an empty plate.

The main course was a huge serving of turkey, pork and beef. I believe the pork was actually pork chops. There were two, but our server said we could get more if we wanted. My eyes were already bugged out at all the meat and we both could beleive there was more to shove onto the small table. Mashed potatoes, stuffing, green beans, and a huge plate of mac and cheese (oh right -- it is sponsored by Stouffers, isn't it??). Our server, Herme, smiled brightly and said "Enjoy!" Umm... right ... now exactly WHERE do we start?!?!?

The turkey was delicious -- roasted and still very hot and juicy. (DW and I cannot stand dry turkey.) It was very tender and we hardly had to use a knife to cut it. The beef was pre-sliced and was somewhat thinner sliced than the turkey. It appeared to be well done and it was slightly dry. A couple of pieces were somewhat tough, so we decided to pass on most of that in favor of the turkey. The pork chops were incredible -- they had a smokey flavor that reminded me just a little of hickory or maybe even mesquite. They were easily cut and juicy. My only complaint is that they were a little on the small side and cut somewhat thin for my taste. (OK - I'm a carnivore -- there I said it!)

The mashed potatoes and veggies were great; DW was able to slosh gravy all over hers and I was able to keep mine pure and untouched except for some pepper.

The stuffing was surprisingly good. Lots of herbs with pieces of celery and onion visible. It had a nicely balanced herb taste that went very well with both the turkey and the pork. The herbs were not overdone. I had a fleeting thought to compare it to DW's recipe (which tastes kinda on the bready side), but thought better of opening mouth to insert foot.

The mac and cheese -- well, it obviously came from the Stouffer's box and tasted like it. If you're gonna give me mac and cheese, make it Kraft, please. No offense to Stouffer's, but this dish just didn't belong at the table. Bland, boring and slightly pale in color; they need to find a better source for their cheese.

Herme came back to offer dessert, but we decided to skip it. We had plans to grab a late dessert after FITS and sit on Main St. to watch the castle colors change before heading back to the BC. So we rolled out the door without trying their dessert offerings. Oh well, there's always next time. (Maybe if I'd said NO to that Mickey Ice Cream bar after the parade!!!)

Atmosphere: A (the colonial theme is well done; the costuming is great. We both loved that the characters were also in costume, including PLUTO!)

Service: B (Herme seemed a little harried at times, sort of like he was trying to cover 2 sections; in fact, over all all the staff seemed incredibly busy although they were very friendly. We had to wait a couple of times for refills on drinks and Herme said they had some problems with the computer/printer that runs up the checks)

Food: B+ (I know it's not 100% authentic, but mac and cheese in colonial times? There's a lot of food here, but it needs to be served much warmer than it was. Also, I would recommend that they think about managing portions better. It looked like we got an initial serving that could have easily fed 4 or more. I know Disney is generous, but this was too much food.)

We've eaten here for lunch several times, but I would really like to try the dinner some time - it sounds great!

I think the reason for the macaroni and cheese is to give the kids something they will like too. I know my son in particular would have had a huge plate of it!

Thanks for the review. :)

Ever tried Marie Calendar's Mac-n-cheese? The best!! Thanks for posting!

I have said it before, and I'll say it again....BRING BACK THE ONE IF BY LAND!!!!! (beef stew in a bread bowl). While you are at it, bring back that apple butter stuff!
This is one of our favorites for lunch, since they changed dinner to a character dinner.
Thanx for the review...

Thanks for the review of LTT. I love the Pilgrim Feast too!
