Great pics. Why can't they ever understand that what WE do is important stuff. Great, just great. I'm never going to encourage my wife to do a trip report. It's bad enough living through one of those "misunderstandings" then, having to relive it a month after real time, in front of all these people. No thanks. Sounds alot like double jeopardy to me. But, you handled it like a champ. I'm gonna have to remember how well this public apology stuff works. Ha. AND, all of this from the woman who walks slowly in front of the television while a game is on just for sport.

BDG

I agree. UtahDaddy is a fab photographer and somehow I think he benefitted from the apology. Let's face it, if you men knew what being humble could get you, you'd do it ALL the time! Am I right girls? :smooth:

:rolleyes1 O.k. UM I have been following this trip report for months now. Can you please hurry up with the next installment before I am in an old folks home and unable to surf the internet? :rotfl2: Or are you and DH too busy making up after that sweet apology?

Knock, knock - HHHEEELLLLOOOO! Has anyone seen Umama, I think she is missing! Maybe she is :happytv: or :surfweb: reading someone elses TR or  with her DH (or pool boy) or :cloud9: or maybe she is  or she could be :laundy: Nah, :sad2: she would not leave us to do that  she could be :yay: (although I doubt it) I certainly hope she is not :faint: (that would be bad) My bet is she is party: without us. :guilty: Please come back!

Hello to all and a big thank you to UMA - You have not only written the best piece of reading on the whole web - but you forced me to at least figure out how to register so that I could post a reply to this never ending party!

I found the Dis boards just a month ago....I was mainly reading the Resorts thread and looking at a few of the picture threads while trying to plan an upcomming trip - someone noted that the TR's are a great way to hear what other's "plan of attack" was....so I clicked on it just three days ago and your post had the catchiest title - so I was on my way. Three straight days of reading and here I am - finally caught up and replying. I feel like I know all of you...and I feel like I'm home with those in love with the Mouse!

I'll try to figure out how to have a fancy signature later but for now - just wanted to say thanks to UMA for the laughs and tears and for making me very excited for my trip. :yay: :cheer2:

I'm loving your trip report. It's nice to see that other peoples DHs don't understand that it takes longer to get four people ready than it takes him to get himself ready. Really, he's lucky we get out the door before noon! It was sweet of him to publicly admit his grouchyness. His photography is beautiful especially the middle pic of the resort in lights. Makes me want to upgrade, but the kids really want to stay at POP. :confused3 Looking forward to the next installment. :surfweb:

10,000 years of lurking can give you such a crick in the neck! Okay, actually I enrolled in Dis a year or so ago and have posted a handful of times. However, I mostly lurk. THANK you to Utahmama & Twinkie Mama for inspiring me to post. Finished TM's TR a few days ago and waded into UM's right after. WOO HOO! I'm caught up and anxiously awaiting another installment for UM.

Wow ... you guys are funny, literate ... and waaaayyyy cooler than my non-Dis friends (even if you are Pepsi drinkers).

Do you suppose I can just permanently move in here? Well, at the very least, I may be inspired to try my own trip report in the near future.

UM ... you rock!

Working on it! Takes time, sorry!

I have been on hold for the last 20 minutes with Disney's Central Lost and Found...we had lost a silkie baby blanket on 9/10 in Fantasy Land at MK. Thought it was a gonner! BUT! It was in the lost and found and they're sending it to us! Yippee! It was easily replacalbe...but still. It was Norah's baby blanket.
So I'm feeling a little pixie dusty today! :cloud9:   :lovestruc :sunny:

What do you mean "good bye"??? As in "I'm off to work"? Or, "Goodbye cruel world"???? Or what? Girlfriend!

And the magic never ends :woohoo: That is great that you will be getting her baby blanket back.

UM-I finally caught up on what you wrote while you were gone. My dbf and I had a break down of sorts while we were away, he has since said he was at fault. I'll admit I had the urge to yell "Don't you know this is the happiest place on earth and you aren't acting very happy?!!" but I know from the DIS that would be un-DIS like now wouldn't it?

Love reading, can't wait for your next part.

A funny thing happened in The Magic of Disney Animation attraction. Our animation tour guide dude kept falling asleep! He basically did his whole 10 minute deal with red rimmed eyes and head-bobbing whenever it was Mooshu’s turn to talk! Poor GUY! I’ve been there! It’s fun to see how your favorite characters where originally drawn by different artists. Like Ursula the Sea Witch, and the Toy Story Characters. I like the history behind all things Disney. So I lingered here longer than my kids liked.

We had 6:20 Dinner reservations at 50’s Primetime.

We’d heard so much about this place from the DIS dining reviews. I was positively lusting for a S’mores desert! When we entered this restaurant, it was like traveling wayyyy back in time. In the 70’s my grandparents were STUCK in the 50’s…and I swear Grandma Smith decorated this place with all her doo-dads and memorabilia ( I had the chance to inherit all her roosters…about a million roosters decorated her home, and when she died, I was offered them, but didn’t want them so they all ended up in the Goodwill box. I turned down a small fortune, people!)

On the console Television sets played Black and White shows like “Lassie” and “Father Knows Best” and the “Mickey Mouse Club” ( I’m Cubby! I’m Darlene!) in little family-room settings. The furniture, wallpaper, lamps, art, EVERYTHING vintage and comfy. I really thought my Grandma was going to sit with me on the naugahide lazy boy and read to me from her Hansel and Gretel book! ((sigh))

We were seated after walking all the way through this restaurant to the very back. The way back. Our server was so cute! Her name was Diana.

P9071034.jpg

She briefed us the rules and the specials and introduced us to our UK “cousins” (our UK cousins were not “into” this place at all…I just want to strangle unfun people! DON’T go to interactive restaurants if you are a stick in the mud!)

Right away, my DH stirred the pot :stir: by putting his dang elbow on the table! GEEZ! So, he had to stand and sing "I’m A Little Teapot"…which made his kids almost laugh themselves silly! I was still pissy from the morning, so I was secretly GLAD (see? be glad you’re NOT married to ME!)

Guess what Dallen and Riley ordered??? Rhymes with “smack and sneeze”. Yup! Mac’n’Cheese x2(which is what they ordered every single time it was available!)
I ordered the salad for appetizer and the Salmon for my entrée. DH ordered shrimp cocktail, grilled chicken. Jordan ordered the deep fried herb cheese and the fried chicken tenderloin withOUT vegetables (I clued him in…) . While we were waiting for our meals, Diana gave us “homework”! We needed to come up with 12 one-word Disney movie titles. Let’s see if I can remember because I didn’t write them down: Dumbo, Bambi, Aladin, Holes, Pollyanna (that was mine, Diana gave me extra credit) , Mulon, Cinderella, Pocahantas, Cars (thanks Riley!), Hercules, Tarzan, Pinocchio!! We got an A+

We got Shirley Temples for the kids…which they thought were very tasty (I haven’t had a Shirley Temple since the 70’s!!) they were served in the "costs extra" glowing ice cups! Diet Choke for me, and a rootbeer float for DH! My salmon was RAW inside…and I had been worried it would be tough and overdone. So I didn’t eat it. If I were “paying” for it I would have sent it back but I wanted to save room for the REASON we were there…S’Mores! Yippee! (OHHH, IT WAS GOOOOD!)

P9071028.jpg

My kids loved the View Master dessert menus! I think they said, “This is fun, we need to get one of these” and I thought the poor little view master wouldn’t stand a chance with all the electronic toys they have!

P9071022.jpg

The kids chose the brownie sundaes which had Cracker Jacks on them! Which they gobbled up and used their sleeves for napkins!

Jordan had been labeled the Trouble Maker of the family, which is TRUE. I think that label has stuck! I’m really glad that child did not order vegetables! He would have gagged if he had to taste them. As another child at a different table did! How he is a healthy growing teen, I’ll NEVER know! Growing up, he’d survive on two bites of food a day, it seemed. And the ONLY veggies he’ll eat are ketchup and fried potatoes! Oh the power struggles he and I have had!

When we were all done, Diana brought Norah a milk “to go” and said she had a fun time with us! I hope she didn’t find my raw salmon in my napkin!

There’s a hole in my meticulous notes as to what we did between our dinner and Fantasmic so let’s just assume shopping, whining, and going potty!

We parked our stroller (to be rearranged by some over-achiever CM the minute we leave) and found a choice spot a little to the left but pretty close to the front. Close enough to really feel the fire! Our family LOVES this show! I just sort of don’t “get” the whole Pocahantas white-man part?? Is it because of their greed and ignorance they were the true villains? I’ll guess that to be true but it’s a little deep for kids, yes? We filmed the whole thing and LOVE to watch it over and over! (In fact, this vacation yielded over 10 hours of “video”!!! We don’t EVER have to go back, we can save a buck and watch our videos (DVD's)!! Our own private Vacation Club, REDNECK style! OH YA!)

During the pre-show I text-messaged TwinkieMama something like “$5.00 Glowy necklaces! Each! No Thank You! DH went to go change DD poopy diaper 5 Mins B4 Fantasmic! His Turn! Haha!” She was “in the Know”!

And we sat and danced to “Bow Wow-wow Yippy yo, Yippy Yay!” (pre-show crowd mood-music!) Made me ALMOST forget how pissy I was!

Tomorrow is Epcot (Apricot) Day and my date with Gary Sinese, sorry Mel, he prefers his women with a little meat! And my Dramamine stupor!

The utahmama is the bomb! yay! I think I'm going to try 50's next time.

I am glad that you enjoyed 50's Prime Time. We gave it two chances and have vowed to never return. YOu are now making me want to try iy again. Thanks for the report. Ready for the next whenever you are.

HA! I'm hoping I'm the 1000th post on this thread!

ETA: And now that I have THAT little piece of posterity--Love your grandma's house! DH says it reminds him of his childhood home. :teeth:

You didn't get into ANY trouble at all? Only your DH had to sing?
