Our Anniversary Week at the Happiest Place on Earth!! TR DONE 8/30 SOUVENIR POST SOON

I think the bats came next. There was not an icebergs chance in hell that I was going to walk through the bat area. No way, no how. Chris wanted to see them though so he walked through by himself while I waited outside. I was going to give him my camera to take some pictures but then I realized that I'd eventually have to look at those pictures so I took the camera back so he wouldn't sneak one in to scare me. He seriously was in the bat area for like 10 mins. I mean the area is not that big but he was just so fascinated by the bats! He came out and was like "Babe those bats were HUGE!!" Needless to say, he liked that area. But, no pictures, thank you very much. So on we went.

I'm having to use great restraint here not to go and get one of my bat pictures to share with you!

continued from previous post...

MY CAMERA WAS DEAD SO NO MORE PICTURES FOR THE NEXT POST OR TWO :sad2:

I forgot to mention our FPs for KRR were a return time of I believe 3:40-4:40. So it was only about 1:40 at this point and we had plenty of time to kill. We had started walking and ended up back in Camp Minnie-Mickey. Now seemed liked a good time to get IN line for the Festival of the Lion King! The show was to start at 2:30 so around 1:45 we jumped in the line which was already pretty long. After waiting for like 7 or 8 mins the line moved forward ALOT and then spread out all along the doors for the theater of the show. We ended up at the door all the way to the left but RIGHT close to it. Maybe like 2 rows of people back, not even. We waited another 10 mins or so before the doors opened. Let me tell you, rain, smelly people who need deodorant and waiting really close together are not a good mix. Especially when you have a little girl in front of you who won't shut up or decide whether she wants her mom to hold her or stand up on her own and another little girl to the left of you who thinks its a good idea to step on your feet 4 or 5 times. With her wet feet. Onto the bare part of my foot where the crocs didn't cover. Loved that.

Moving on. The doors opened for FotLK around 2:10. It was nice to get inside and sit down in the air conditioning, away from the wet outside, even if the seats inside the theater are like sitting on rocks. Or worse. I tried to turn on my camera just to grab a shot or two inside the theater but no such luck :guilty: Right as we sat down tinkgurl texted me! I was excited to hear from her! She asked me if I had heard anything about the fridge (which reminded me that we still needed to track that stupid thing down!) and told me she had been updating you guys on here. I told her everything was going great and I think she put another update on my PTR letting you know we were sitting waiting for the FotLK to start. Thanks tinkgurl!

Soon the show started. We were in the giraffe section. We both absolutely LOVED this show!! OMG, definitely my fave in all of WDW. Would see it every trip and love every minute of it. I was so into it and so was Chris. The only thing I didn't like was the giraffe noise thing. We sounded like goats. I've never heard a giraffe make a noise before so maybe they sound like goats, idk. It was just weird. The show itself though was out of this world. I was even MORE disappointed that my camera had died because there were so many pictures I would have loved to take of this show. Even though my camera STINKS and probably wouldn't have gotten very good pictures in the low light anyway. Bottom line: WE LOVE FESTIVAL OF THE LION KING!

When the show let out it was obvious that it had been raining more while we were inside the theater. Good FotLK timing for us! Then, I texted Nicole. I wanted to give her my password and username for my email so she could get the fridge swap coordinator's phone # from the email she had sent me. She was on her way home so once she got home I called her and she gave me the info. She also gave me the phone # of the swapper who had the fridge before me so I could give her a call as well. Thanks Nicole! After getting off the phone with her I sent a text to both the swapper before me and the swap coordinator. I really didn't want to be dealing with this on my vacation!! While i was on the phone and sending text messages, Chris was mesmerized by a CM in the middle of Camp Minnie-Mickey who was making up songs and playing his guitar. He picked this little boy and was making up a whole song about him. His parents were video taping and loving it but the kid wasn't really enjoying it too much. I don't understand but Chris was like so enchanted by this type of this all trip! I was done on the phone finally and wanted to get walking and he's like "let's just stay for one more song please." So, we did LOL

Then we started walking some more and headed over to ITTBAB again. It was up and running so we hopped on the non-existent line. We basically just walked right in. The show started less that 5 minutes after we got over there. Of course I was sitting up, away from the seat because I didn't want the bees to sting me! Chris asked me why I was sitting like that and i just told him it was because my back was more comfortable that way. He believed me :rotfl: So I was successful in not feeling the bee stings and when that part of the show came he was like "I got stung!! I can't believe you didn't tell me!" :lmao: Oh boy, funny stuff. However, there was no way around feeling hte bugs crawl underneath you at the end so that I had to deal with. It wasn't so bad because I was prepared for it this time.

Once we were done with ITTBAB we could have walked over to KRR as it was almost time for our FP return but we were pooped. It wasn't very warm out and we were just tired wanted to change our damp clothes. So we decided it was time to head out. I tried to give away our Kali FPs but no one wanted them! I guess everyone felt they didn't want to get wet either. As we were leaving the park was all roped off for the parade so we needed to take a few detours to get to the exit. On the way out I stopped at one of the shops because there was a picture frame I wanted to get. I think I forgot to mention that I had bought our redneck photo of Expedition Everest LOL It came out cute and I wanted to get the Everest picture frame to put it in so I went into one of the shops on the way out and bought it. Then we headed out. Our day at Animal Kingdom was complete. It was an amazing first park day and I really couldn't have asked for anything more. I was one happy girl and Chris totally enjoyed himself a ton. :wizard:

Next up: our long night ahead with a crazy boat ride!

Just goto www.disneyvacationclub.com you can look at all the DVC resorts there like you can on the regular resort site only it's all DVC resorts! :thumbsup2 I'm also glad that a fellow diser helped you and you helped me! LOL!

I just went there and did the virtual tour...holy moley!! Its soooo gorgeous I was getting goosebumps looking at it! AKV for us is amazing!

It's a gripping read lol, although by the end I'm just wanting you guys to get to WDW so badly, I don't think I could have read any more :thumbsup2 In all fairness, I only kept on because I thought the TR was at the end....but it wasn't......but luckily that means I get to enjoy the updates like everyone else and not read it all in one go!

On a side note, Britain's Got Talent just finished, so for all you lovely Americans, this is our winner - "Diversity"

I think Susan Boyle is losing it! :rotfl:

I'm having to use great restraint here not to go and get one of my bat pictures to share with you!

Thank you MeMom! I would have screamed and gotten the chills and freaked out. Now I'm sure someone else will post one that I've said this LOL

Awe. Sad about your camera.

But I bet your enjoyed FOTLK even more since you didn't have your camera distracting you.

i hear ya on the bats! i don't like them either. however, i will go in the bat area because they are completely separated from you. i don't mind bats and birds and other winged thing as long as they can't GET to me.

bummer that your camera died!

don't you just LOVE that??? ew....yuck! that just grosses me out. and as far as the deodorant, i know that not all americans wear deodorant and that we stink, too, but i do know that a lot of foreigners don't use it. and they stink. BAD!!! i think they should include a courtesy video on all foreign flights coming into the U.S. on what deodorant is and how to use it properly!

I hope that wasn't aimed at us English, I'd like to think we're clean compared to the rest of Europe!!

I dont know how to multi-quote yet lol, so back to the main girl.......

I :lovestruc AK - but how can you not go on KRR. Last time I went, it was a freezing cold December and we rode it a couple of times - think we spent all day trying to dry off unsuccessfully. Still sooooo much fun though :woohoo:

Let's hope you get the interview - I'm sure they'll give you the job!

Good luck on the job interview. But you'll do fine.
So if I had to chose between the Nemo and the Lion King shows what would you suggest?:confused3

Yes, I was so bummed that my camera died! I had no camera for the rest of the night :sad2:

You may be right about enjoying things better though. In NYC last week it was soo relaxing to not have to try and snap the best shot of everything!

i hear ya on the bats! i don't like them either. however, i will go in the bat area because they are completely separated from you. i don't mind bats and birds and other winged thing as long as they can't GET to me. Ewww to those bats. I can't even look at them. Birds I can look at too except owls. They're just too creepy. All other birds though are ok if they cant get to me, I'm with you on that :rotfl:

bummer that your camera died! i was so upsetttt :guilty:

OMG you couldn't be more right. And the foreign women don't shave. I saw this one Spanish girl waiting on line in Epcot and seriously I've never seen legs like this. Spanish people are hairy! Her legs were disgusting! But so true about the lack of deodorant. I'm all for the courtesty video on the flight!

I hope that wasn't aimed at us English, I'd like to think we're clean compared to the rest of Europe!!

Most English people were acceptable, scent wise LOL not that there aren't plenty of smelly Americans don't get me wrong.

AK is amazing! I really wanted to do KRR but seriously was NOT in the mood to be soaking wet and then have to walk around and ride the bus all wet. Sorry! Next trip we'll try and ride it.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed on the interview, thanks!

Good luck on the job interview. But you'll do fine.

Thanks! I would recommend FotLK over Nemo without a doubt. So much more entertaining, IMO, and more audience interaction.

Getting caught up...

Good luck with your interview!

Those bats are so gross. I agree with you!

Thanks!! Those bats are just NASTY!

Good luck on your interview!! I hope you get the job! If you do I'll come visit you at work!

I'm soooo sorry about your camera! I hope you got it back in working order!

We love FOTLK too! LOL about the giraffe noise! We've always sat in the warthog section somehow. The kids love the snorting LOL!!

We met the guy with the guitar on our trip in 08! I believe he goes by Guitar Jim or Guitar Bob or something like that. He sang to my kids and they totally loved it! I was soooo impressed how he just made up songs completely off the cuff!

Woo! I'm mentioned in a TR! :woohoo:

Those hidden paths with the animals look so cool! That deer is scary!

I LOVE Dinosaur!! :yay:

Ugh, stupid camera! :headache:

I'm so glad you liked FOTLK. It's amazing, isn't it?! :goodvibes

Loving the TR! I'm your age, so it's fun to see how you decided to spend your vacation :)
I had to laugh when you said you were nervous before ITTBAB. I think that was the most scared I was on any attraction my whole trip, honestly!
I never got around to seeing FOTLK, but I hear such great things about it so glad to hear you enjoyed it!

Lions and tigers and dinos! Oh my!

Bummer that your camera battery died out. Looking forward to more pictures. Good luck with the interviews.

What a great update -- except for the rain and the camera dying. :(

I cracked up over the pic of Chris looking scared by the tiger sign! :rotfl:

The tigers are so beautiful -- I am looking forward to seeing them in person soon! :goodvibes

Wow. That was a huge update. So fun to read! Dinosaur is SO scary, but I love it. I seriously have to take deep breaths while standing in line because I get so nervous. But then afterwards I'm glad I did it.

I really hope that you can get a job w/ a school district. I work for a school district as well, and I had no idea what a good opportunity it is. It would really get you connected if you choose to go on to teaching. And the benefits are great. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Good luck on your interview!! I hope you get the job! If you do I'll come visit you at work! Thanks! It would be pretty close to you I think, its for Easthampton school district. It's kinda far for me but it should be worth it!

I'm soooo sorry about your camera! I hope you got it back in working order!

I did get my camera going again just not for the rest of the day since we weren't in the room long enough for me to charge another set of batteries. FotLK was so great. I would have liked snorting better than the stupid girafee/goat sound LOL

The Guitar guy was pretty cool. If I were a kid I think I would have liked him singing about me but the little kid he was singing too just wasn't having it LOL

Woo! I'm mentioned in a TR! :woohoo:

Girl, you knew you were gonna get a shout out when I got to FotLK! It was such a great show, my favorite! Just annoying that my stupid terrible camera died!

The Maharajah Jungle Trek was pretty cool, I wish we would have done Pangani though. Dinosaur is really fun, can't wait to ride that again. :goodvibes

Loving the TR! I'm your age, so it's fun to see how you decided to spend your vacation :)

Heyyy!! thanks for joining in and I'm glad you're enjoying the TR! :goodvibes

OMG thats so funny that you were nervous before ITTBAB too! It seriously was the ONLY ride all vacation I was nervous about so I'm glad I wasn't the only one! You should definitely see FotLK next time you get to WDW, its amazing!

Lions and tigers and dinos! Oh my!

Bummer that your camera battery died out. Looking forward to more pictures. Good luck with the interviews.

So disappointing about my camera! I was maddddd. More pictures will come I promise...just not for the rest of day 2 :sad2:

What a great update -- except for the rain and the camera dying. :(

I cracked up over the pic of Chris looking scared by the tiger sign! :rotfl:

The tigers are so beautiful -- I am looking forward to seeing them in person soon! :goodvibes

The rain was not even a problem at all because we timed it perfectly! The camera dying was crappy. That picture of Chris, I was like "babe, point to the word tigers and look surprised" and thats what I got :rotfl: He's a ham! Just think, 5 more days and you'll get to see the tigers up close and personal! :thumbsup2

Glad you liked the update! Dinosaur is nerve racking but sooo much fun!

I'm going to school for my Master's in education right now so if I can get in with the school district for this position, I'm hoping it would help me get my foot in the door towards a teaching position when I'm done with school. Thanks for the well wishes :goodvibes

I love the update.
I went to AK in 1999 (May) and took the 2 kids I had at the time (they are now 20 and 17 :scared1:). We rode Dinsaur too. I think it was called Dinosaur by then, but I could be wrong. But do you remember waiting in a queue outside? Thats what I remember. And it was super long. They must've been still working on the inside queue or something. I'm not even sure if we had the preshow, but I'm thinking it was on TV's while we waited in the outside queue area. I wish I would've taken pictures of it back then.

Also the Digsite was totally in the open and the rest of Dinoland wasn't even there. I had to look fo r the digsite last year. (we didn't do it, but I just remembered it being out in the open for everyone to see.) It's amazing how tress growing and some landscaping changes the look of a place.

Hey everyone! Happy Monday! Mondays are never usually too happy though, are they? LOL Anyway, my parents left yesterday morning for Orlando for their 25th anniversary. They've been married since my mom was 20 and my dad was 22. Crazy! They have such a great marriage and I hope I'm lucky nough to have a marriage like they do in the future! Let me just say my mom and dad aren't Disney people. Weird, I know. Actually my mom does like Disney and she collects Disney snowglobes like its her job. But they could take it or leave it. Definitely don't feel anywhere near as strongly about it as us Disers. So a lady my dad works with somehow got him two 1 day park hopper tickets for free! He rubbed that in real bad LOL He thought it was just for Epcot. Good thing he had his DIS informed daughter to tell him that it was a hopper where he could go to every park if they wanted to. I talked to them about an hour ago and they were driving somewhere, I don't know where and they had went to Epcot and the MK! They said they were only in the MK for a real short time because it was just filled with kids (they raised their kids and really aren't into them anymore :lmao:) but they said Epcot was empty! My mom told me they went on Test Track LOL I know they like that ride from when we were kids. Wednesday is their actual anniversary and they'll be eating at the Yachtsman Steakhouse. Chris and I gave them a $50 disney dollars giftcard that we gained from using my Disney Visa. I'm so jealous that they're there. They said its really hot too. Ok anyway, thats my little parents update. :wizard:

Chris and I are going to look at a car that he saw online at a local dealership tonight. Wish him luck that he can get it! :goodvibes

I love the update.

I don't remember much from when we were there in 1998. I was 11 and my brother was 8 and we were more interested in getting back to our resort to swim LOL I do remember the digsite was totally open when we were there. I remember digging for bones. Knowing what I know now, so much of the park wasn't even finished when we were there. Asia wasn't open at all. It's so cool to see the park evolve over time! :goodvibes
