Just back and had a great time...been to Castaway Cay several times but this is the frist time we wished we had taken water shoes.

Maybe it is just this time of year but on the Adult beach at Castaway Cay we would have loved to have had water shoes on......Lots of rock and coral........

Just a packing tip

I agree about the water shoes. We were at Serenity Bay for both stops at CC and we wished all day long we had taken our water shoes.

I would suggest shoes for family beach, my son and daughter were complaining a bit about feet hurting but that did not keep them from going in and out of the water, was not very painful but unpleasant.

At the family beach we used water shoes. Once you go in the water it is not a smooth bottom, there are all kinds of plants etc and they don't feel very nice on your feet. Also walking over to get lunch the sand is VERY hot.

Thanks for the reminder. We were there in July and there were lots of rocks and such, water shoes would have made life easier. Of course I guess the need for that has slipped my mind since my first memory of CC this year was watching my DD18 running away from little fish with beach chair in hand. :rotfl2: Funny sight to watch. :lmao: She finally gave up and relaxed in a hammock. Ahhhh to be there right now. :beach:

Anyone know where I can find water shoes for my kids this time of year? We leave in Feb. Searched online a little but couldn't find anything. Thanks!

good idea, I think I was disturbing the locals "adults" with my OUCH OUCH giggle giggle, I THINK SOMETHING BIT ME, OUCH, Im sure they were happy we only stayed 15 minutes,, its beautiful there but I prefer to swim in the family beach with the view of the ship.

My sil bought the cutest water shoes for her daughter at Ron Jons.....Teeny tiny Teevas. Ron Jons is right there close to the boat. It is a "famous" surf shop.

If you have your own transportation........water shoes are in Walmarts and Targets in Florida year round....... Hope this helps :thumbsup2

I totally agree with the OP. My 19 year old got some coral in her foot (I told her to wear the water shoes...), and we had to visit the medical center the next day to have them tell us it would work itself out. It did. She was fine, but you do need the water shoes on the Adult Beach.

I liked exploring the ship, but that was someplace I didn't need to go!

I wore my Crocs into the ocean last year and they worked out amazingly well!
They float if they come off your feet, which almost never happened. ALso easier to kick off an on your feet and you don't have to worry about them drying. I swam in the ocean with them quite comfortably.

I just purchased some at WalMart last week (they make great stocking stuffers:))

last week i was on the nana cruise and me and my dbf got cactus like prickles in our feet. im going to the doctor tomorrow to hopefully get them removed. definitly pack water shoes or crocs!

I wore me crocs too--easier to rinse the sand off after wards and to dry!!

We always wear them, although this last trip we ended up taking them off. We go to the far end of the family beach and this time it wasn't as bad as in the past. I've seen them in the stores in Downtown Disney's Marketplace.

Be sure to bring plenty of plastic bags to store them in. They never seem to dry out before you have to pack them up in your luggage.

I agree with this, they never dry in time when it is time to pack up. I wore water shoes and put them on the veranda and they still didn't dry by the time I had to pack them away. My SO used his crocs and they were dry by the time we got back to the ship.

Wouldn't you like to be the person who invented CROCS..........

Who would have ever thought :confused3

I tried to stay away from them and told myself I would not fall into the latest fad but we a family of four all have them......uugh. o.k. kids have more than one pair. :goodvibes

went to the doctor today where they took out 11 of those prickly cactus things. definitly wear water shoes people!
