Dh & I have to take DD to the Walnut Street Theater on Saturday for an audition - a little directions help please?

Coming from CT - 84 to 684 to 287 to Garden State Pkwy (to bypass NY) to 95 South. Exit 4 to Rt 38 to Rt 30 across the Ben Franklin Bridge then left on either 9th ot 10 St to Walnut St.

Is this a reasonable route? Doesn't actually look too bad. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Pooch

when you come off the BF bridge be sure to follow Vine St to 10th (several options when you come off bridge) prob could even go on to Callohill st, runs to 10th also, then make a left at 10th going south you will only need to go about 4 or 5 blocks to Walnut. Hope this makes sense to you.

the info sheet they sent lists the directions from 95 south as:

From I-95 South: Take the Callowhill exit, go straight on 2nd Ave, right on Walnut St.

Trying to tell Hubby that there's more to it between 95 and the Callowhill exit but when does he ever listen to me!!!

I believe once you cross the Ben and keep left, it will be 8th St. where you turn left. Once you cross over Market St. start looking for Walnut St, just a few blks past Market. Turn right onto Walnut St.
Walnut St is one way (as most in Philly) heading west so side street #s increase as you go.

Walnut St Theater is on right between 8th and 9th Sts. I work on the 900 blk and 1100 blk of Walnut St but take the train and rarely drive in. If you see signs for Thomas Jefferson University/Hospital, you went too far on Walnut.

BTW, if you're taking the NJ Turnpike to Exit 4, you will bypass 95 completely which runs along the Philly side of Delaware River.

Mapquest.com allows users to click and drag the posted route to a different road if you prefer and it will reroute so you can take the road of your choice. You can do this as many times as you like.

Toll on the Ben into Philly is $4 but that's round trip. You don't pay when returning to NJ.

When you come off the Garden state parkway onto 38, then 30, its more "local". There are traffic lights and so you won't be highway driving, per se.

I'd recommend getting gas when you're still in NJ. They will pump it for you there, and it's pretty difficult to find gas in Center City Philly.

Good luck. Hope you have some time to do a little sightseeing! It's a wonderful city with tons of history. I'd recommend Independence Hall, Liberty Bell, Constitution Center and Franklin Court. All around 3-4 blocks down Walnut St. Or try the Reading Terminal Market at 13th and Market (2 blocks away from Walnut). Great food - authentic Philly cheesesteaks, Italian roast pork sandwiches, Basset's ice cream and Amish food and baked goods!
