OT: Need to vent

This is way OT, but this is where mt DIS friends are so here ya go.

My seven year old got mad at her ten year old sister and kicked over a full can of baby blue paint on to cream colored carpet. The lid was even on, but she kicked it pretty hard. The past two hours have been really fun!!! I managed to get most of it up, but I am now completely exhausted!

DUDE!!! That's ROUGH!!! I know she's seven and accidents happen, but that's tough. I do have a suggestion though; if you CAN'T get all of it up, turn it into a U of K room!! I think you can pull it off, being a fan and all.

I almost felt like it. I let the DW dish out punishments, and she decided three days of evenings in the bedroom and no tv.

Well, it was UNC baby blue instead of UK blue (an actual paint color you can buy). Luckily, light blue is easier to get out of carpet. Also, it was in the 10 yo. DD's doorway, so no hope for a UK room. I like the idea though.

BTW, what does UK stand for? I used to think it meant "United Kingdom", but since I have no idea what a British blue would look like I'm guessing it's something else...

I was able to get it taken care of pretty well with our carpet cleaner. My wife rented a professional unit that she is going to try to finish up with today.

UK - University of Kentucky (The Wildcats) The colors are blue and white.

Bummer to hear that! I had a child spill red gatorade on my cream carpet. I cleaned what I could then used water with a little dish soap on it. I put a white towel over it and compressed with a hot iron. The heat pulled the color to the towel. No more stain! It does take a while however!! Kids!

Thanks for sharing. It made me feel a little bit better . This past Sunday I was rushing to get a final coat of white paint on the trim in our LR when I spilled the can onto a red carpet crossing from one side of the room to the other. I was rushing so I could get it done and out the door for an enjoyable round of golf.

Fortunately, my has one of those mini carpet cleaners and had the spill removed before I could finish the trim. Boy was I lucky.

That is what my DM told us to try. I was worried it might melt the carpet.

The other thing is if you have any extra carpet left over, they can always come in and replace just that section fairly easily. The guys who layed my carpeting last time reminded me of that in saving some sections.

Beware. The end result of that procedure can vary tremendously. Before anyone takes an Exacto knife to your rug make sure they are EXTREMELY good at carpet repair.

We had a spot in front of our bathroom door where the rug had completely worn away and the wooden piece under the rug was starting to show. The guys came in and cut a piece out of my closet (didn't know they were going to do that! ) and used it to repair the spot in the hallway. It looked HORRIBLE. Our DS was 4 at the time and he could have done a better job than these guys. I was FURIOUS. It looked ridiculous and horrible all at the same time. Never again.

Well, the end result is tolerable. The corner of the door frame where it pooled is still showing, but we will live. The biggest pain was my body yesterday!

Thank you everyone for listening and offering suggestions. That is why I love this site. Too bad my mind went into ultra cleaning mode or I could have had some funny pictures (well at least funny at some point in the future).
