) Hello!Hi everyonehope you dont mind me coming into this thread, i keep saying the posts going up quite a lot

I assume this is just a general chit chat thread.....well ive got a 14mth old boy and i have people saying to me that its time he started potty training?? but others are telling me he is still to young(Harrison is my first child so im all new to this
)
so for all you mothers out there, when did you start the dreaded potty training?
Hello!
I'm not a mum yet, but have 2 nephews, ones 3 and one is 16 months.
The 3 year old has jsut about finished his trinaing now, but they only started to train him about 6 months or so ago, and they aren;t yet considering it with the 16 month old.
Every child is different and my Sister in Law used to work in a nursery so she knew when the right time was her her son and he's done great, no point rushing them into something they aren't ready for.
I think they just need to be trained in time for starting nusery/pre school.

Well, I guess everyone (both adults & kiddies lol) is different. I know where I originally come from (Malaysia), they start potty training babies at quite a young age but to me, that's not really 'training' but just watching their cues and stuff and it's just too much hard work for me lol. Anyway, with my DD (who's now 6.5 yrs old), I started when she was just after 3. We did it for 2 days (lol!) but she was the sort who would get upset when she wet herself. She just wasn't "getting it" - asked her if she needed a wee, she said no and a minute later, she'd wet herself... or if we sat her on the potty at regular intervals, she wouldn't do a wee but a minute later, wld wet herself. We stopped after 2 days becoz I didn't want her to get so upset each time and didn't want to put her off the whole idea. We tried again when she was 3.5 and voila, it just clicked with her from that first morning - it was if someone had switched the light on lol. SHE was the one asking to go for a wee etc etc.. and we hardly had any accidents. Just the odd bit of wet pants but nothing major. We were so chuffed about that.
For me personally, I would say wait till he's a bit older (at least 2 or at least until he kind of starts showing an interest or telling you that he's done a wee or poo in his nappy).It doesn't hurt to have a potty in the bathroom so he can get used to it being there, and maybe sit on it before he has a bath if he wants to
Sorry, gone on a bit thereFor me personally, I would say wait till he's a bit older (at least 2 or at least until he kind of starts showing an interest or telling you that he's done a wee or poo in his nappy).

Woohoo! Not long been off the phone to Robert, and we've decided to go to our fave pub for dinner tonight... I'm sick of working on my dissertation so I decided to take us out to eat!

Firstdaybackatworkitis here too

The only problem I did have was with my son's bowel movements. For a few weeks he was very reluctant to go and would wait until he absolutely HAD to (would run round for an hour or two humming when it got urgent - but refusing to go until it was DESPERATE) but I understand this is not unusual. Certainly the GP wasn't worried and gave us a mild laxative to help him along and the phase soon passed. (As he is now 16 he will hate me for telling you that!)
