Not trying to start a debate or anything of the sort, just curious given that we are all from different states and socioeconomic backgrounds and all that, as of today who is your candidate of choice?

I voted for Ron Paul. I'm far from being a Republican but he is a believer in the Constitution and is what a Republican used to be. If he was given the time to speak he has a lot of great things to say and I think he would be a great leader.

If he does not make the final cut then I will probably vote for Obama. I would love to see an Obama/Edwards ticket.

Registered Independant who almost always votes democrat. I'm rooting for Obama.

I'm a registered Independant also, but I usually vote Republican. Not this time though. I don't think they will give Ron Paul a fair shake, so I will probably be voting for Obama. We, us a country, need a change. A fresh start. I feel really bad for whoever gets the job. We are in quite a mess and it'll take a lot to pull us out.

Although I generally favor Republicans, none of the front runners impress me this time around...not that it would matter anyway. As a country we don't tend to follow one path too long - and I think that's probably a good thing. We get fed up with the way things are & vote the other party into office for a while...then switch back when that route gets old. It's that time again. I seriously doubt any of the Republicans running could win.

So far, I like what I'm hearing from Obama and will most likely vote for him. Of course, the best thing about him is that he isn't Hillary. Sorry...I've never liked that woman...my apologies to those that do.

I'm historically a Democrat, although, I've voted for quite a few Republicans before (at state level politics and Congress) But, I honestly don't know this year. I like aspects of all 4 major players right now. But I also dislike things about them to. *sigh* I just don't know.

I have to admit I am a Hilary fan. I am only so-so on her policies (some good, some not so good), but I kinda feel like she is the only one with any national and international experience. Obama has some awesome ideas, but no experience. I think 8 years under Hillary as her VP will make him an unbeatable candidate come 2016. I really liked Richardson's ideas, but he just wasn't strong enough to compete at the level.

I am technically independent, but with the supreme court essentially up for grabs with this president and the whole Iraq situation I gotta go with the dems.

The really sad thing about politics in general is that I am VERY socially liberal (which is technically a REPUBLICAN ideal). Small government and all that. Anybody should be able to do whatever they want as long as it doesn't hurt anybody else. It really bothers me that the big government Democrats stand for more individual freedom now-a-days! Makes no sense!

I am ok with Obama, I really like his wife, Michelle. She is very smart and well spoken. I think she will make an excellent first lady.
I have to agree though that Hillary has experience, and her husband was well liked amongst the other leaders of the world. I think that could be an advantage to her when dealing with other countries and foreign policies.

Yes and no to the hubby being a good thing. What if the world leaders will only deal with HIM and not HER? Even though other countries do have female leaders, the ones we have trouble with will not respect a woman. No matter who she is. Sad, isn't it?

I like Ron Paul. If he doesnt make the cut I will just have to see who is left. Im not republican or democrat I just try to vote for the person who is going to do the least amount of bad things to me :rotfl:

I'm a bleeding heart blue state liberal through and through. I will vote for whatever Democrat is on the ballot in November, I don't have strong feelings for either front-runner. They both have pros and cons. Having said that, I am not enrolled as a Democrat so I can choose whichever primary ballot I wish. I am planning on choosing the Republican ballot and voting for McCain, because I do NOT want Romney to get the nomination. I didn't like him as governor and I do not want him as president.

I know, and that is so sad that we have to pick the lesser of the 2 evils. It really bugs me!

very true. Think he'll be her VP if she gets nominated?

Wow! I seem to be in the minority here. I'm about as far right as you can get. I also vote for the person who is going to do the least amount of bad things to me. That's why I vote Republican. The Republican tax cuts have done more for my middle income (no six-figures here) family than any Democrat ever has.

I think Obama is the lesser of 2 evils on the Democrat side. Not that I'll ever vote Dem because I disagree with a lot of the liberal thinking. But here's my 2 cents on a few topics. I know the Iraq war has been a hot topic on many people's lists. However, I have been a military wife for nearly 12 yrs and have seen many people come and go to Iraq from the base we're at for 4 month deployments. The media skews most of the info that comes out of Iraq and they never share any of the good stuff that my friends spouses talk about when they get home. The things they do that make a difference in someone's life that was living under the evil Hussein.

Also I am very against a national health plan like Canada has that Ms. Clinton would like to put into effect. I don't disagree that everyone should have access to affordable medical coverage and I do think that pharmaceutical companies are charging way too much and I think there should be limits imposed on what they can charge for drugs. But I know for a fact that my dad who was diagnosed with cancer back in November would still be waiting to go through radiation and chemo instead of being treated right now. I have heart issues to and I would not be getting the same kind treatment if we had the same system as Canada. Do people not realize how many people in Canada actually spend their own money to come and get medical treatment here.

I think that Romney and Huckabee would be great running mates since they both have a lot of the same ideals and morals that I have. I truly think that securing our borders and stopping illegal immigration is a big deal. McCain is a moron and not only doesn't want to stop illegal immigration and he also wants to put the Dream act into effect which would allow illegal immigrants to go to colleges at taxpayer expenses. I don't think so!

I'm a big believer that people need to be responsible for their own decisions and choices and not rely on the government to take care of them and bail them out. I grew up in a family where you're taught to be responsible for yourself.

No flames please. I just stated my opinions.

DH is an active duty army reservist. He served in Iraq from 5/03 -- 5/04, and is now at the Pentagon. I completely agree with you. The things he talks about from his time served in Iraq is not at all what you hear about on TV. It really makes you wonder about all of the other things the media skews and how this effects our decisions and the decisions of our leaders.

We get to vote this Tuesday in our primary. I normally vote democratic, but I have to say I'm not impressed with any of the candidates yet. I have my many long reasons.
I like Edwards and was sad to see him leave the race.

You'll get no flames from me, hoosiergirl.

The thought of national healthcare scares me. I've read Canadians on this board who are fed up with their healthcare system, and can't believe we are even considering it. I agree about the pharmaceutical companies. The prices are outrageous for so many drugs. I know several pharm reps and they rake in a bundle. The companies could knock out some of their costs by discontinuing the advertising. I'm so sick of ED treatment comercials that I could scream! Anyone who doesn't know about those medications by now has been in a cave. That's a private issue that should be discussed with a doctor. I'm constantly turning the volume off because of those commercials. My kids don't need to hear about that. The other thing I see as a problem in healthcare is the over use and huge settlements in lawsuits. The cost of malpractice insurance for doctors has put some out of practice.

With the war. I'm not over there every day to see and hear what it's like and whether or not what we're doing is helping anyone. I know people in the military who are there and believe in what they are doing and see that they are helping the people of that country. They believe that so much that they are willing to put their lives on the line for it. A friend's son has reenlisted after serving two tours in Iraq already. He wouldn't have let his female cousin enlist knowing she'd be going over there as a medic if he thought the war was doing no good. They don't want to be pulled out of there immediately.

I agree with your thoughts on personal responsibility as well.

I'm not crazy about Romney. I do like Huckabee. He has handled questions with straight answers and has a good record. I think McCain would be a good commander in cheif, but I don't agree with some of his policies.

Being an "Undeclared" meaning I can register for 1 party or another when I enter the polling place, I am leaning toward John McCain...need more information on the remaining ones before I make a final decision. Coming from MA, Mitt Romney is off my list - we had years to watch what he produced here.

I find this awesome. I thought we might have different ideas, but to find our opinions are SO different is just fascinating. I love it! This is what makes this country so great!

As for flaming, since I started this thread, if this conversation goes in a bad direction i will personally ask the mods to close it.
