After reading posts about people spending HOURS cleaning their house I thought it might be neat to see how people do theirs. I'll start. We can do new topics with other rooms and/or routines.

This morning I did my 2 full baths - Master & secondary. It took roughly 40 minutes. Here's what I did:

2nd Bath:
- Using clorox toilet wand, swished the toilet bowl and let sit
- Using Windex Wipe, cleaned the mirror. Use up/down strokes to edges to reduce lint.
- Using Lysol scrubbing wipe, cleaned sink, counter & fixture.
- Using Scrubbing bubbles flushable wipes, cleaned all surfaces of the toilet. Use old power toothbrush on stubborn or hard to reach areas (hinges are the worst).
- One last swish with toilet wand and flush.
- Using Lysol Scrubbing wipe, wiped down bathtub (rarely used so this is mostly to dust.)
- Using Lysol Scrub wipe, wiped down light switches, door handle and spots on door.
Done.

Master Bath:
Same routine plus:
- First thing - sprayed tub & shower (incl inside door) with Scrubbing Bubbles Max and let sit.
- continue with rest of routine
- wipe down with lysol wipe the 'stuff' on the counters. Don't keep anything out but a soap dispenser in the 2nd bath but DH & I keep stuff out in the Master (soap dispenser, facial cleaners, shaving cream, etc).
- With a scrubbing sponge and a filled bucket of hot water, wipe down tub and shower. & door.
- Fill bucket with hot water and rinse all shower & tub surfaces
- wipe outside shower door with Windex Wipe
- use Magic Eraser on textured shower floor (not done today).
Done.

I mopped the floors on Monday with a rope mop when I clean all my hard floors (that job takes about 20 minutes) and vacuumed yesterday the perimeter when I vacuumed the bedrooms (about once every two weeks).

I do this cleaning weekly but sometimes if I am pressed for time (company coming) I'll use Mr. Clean All Purpose spray and paper towels and use that one product to clean sink, mirror & toilet. This wipe down takes about 5 minutes each bathroom. About every month or so I get a bucket of hot water mixed with bleach cleaner and scrub the tile grout, baseboards and toilet base. We don't keep hand towels, simply use the towel we showered/bathe with last (We use fresh towels every day). Trashes are emptied, lysol sprayed and new liners (old Walmart bags) on Sunday for trash pick on Monday. As needed, the trash are filled with bleach water and soak (every 3 months or so).

So what do you do and how long does it take?

My routine is about the same as yours with the exceptions I have asthma and can't use a lot of the products you use so instead I use a steamer, baking soda, etc. I also don't use a toothbrush but cotton swabs to get in those hard to reach places with the steam usually it all comes out from the hinges.

I live in a two bedroom apt. I usually do a deep spring clean everytime about every two weeks. Of course bathrooms and the like are kept up with cleaning the toilets and sinks and the floors. I have trouble with my feet and I really need to get help again as if I stand to long my foot gives out and then I am unable to walk. The whole full spring clean takes about 6 hrs. Including my windows.

How close to you live to Atlanta and how much do you charge?

I second that, except I'm in New England! :lmao:

I am seriously lacking in my housecleaning skills if this is what you do regularly. I clean my bathrooms when they seem like they need it - toilet, sink and counter tops. My shower (which is used frequently) will get cleaned more often than the kids' tub, which is not (they often use my shower too now). I'll sweep the floors occasionally. I don't even own bleach!

I bet I really made you want to come over right away, didn't I? ;)

only as long as I have to and whenever company's coming.

Ragtopday and I are neighbors, not really but we could be in our house cleaning skills. I used to have a cleaning person because I owned my own business and it was tax deductible, but then my husband got laid off and everything turned upside down, but I honestly can't tell you the last time I dusted I did sweep last night, but the pile is still sitting beside the garbage can. The house itself doesn't look dirty and you would not be grossed out :rotfl:, but it's not as deep clean as I would like it, but working full-time having three children and all the running I do, the house keeping just takes a backseat.

The only thing that I'll say about my cleaning routine is that it probably takes less time for me to clean my bathroom than it did for you to type out your routine. :lmao:

I'm in the Atlanta area too...maybe we can work out a 2 for 1 deal.

I second this! If this is how everyone cleans their bathrooms, I have some serious cleaning to do.

I have no clue. My hubby cleans the bathroom. I do know he does it everyday--5 people + kid's friends/boyfriends/girlfriends + one bathroom= a need for daily cleaning!

My routine is about the same as your with the exceptions I have asthma and can us a lot of the products you use so instead I use a steamer, baking soda, etc. I also don't use a toothbrush but cotton swabs to get in those hard to reach places with the steam usually it all comes out from the hinges.

I too have asthma and can not tolerate bathroom cleaners (they are the worst!). I steam my floors and then use a homemade spray for counters and toilet lid (vinegar/ammonia/water), shampoo for the inside of the toilet. Used dryer sheets clean the shower doors. Using fewer cleaners helps me breathe better but also saves me time and hassle. I have less stuff to cart around and less wipes/rags to deal with.

WOW! I am scared to tell you how I clean mine!

Basically I spray everything down with Scrubbing Bubbles--sink, tub, shower, toilet. While the bubbles are scrubbing, I clean the mirror with Windex and a paper towel, pick up any stray dirty towels, wash cloths, etc. Sweep the floor. Then I wipe every thing down, starting with the sink and counter and ending with the toilet. Then I mop my way out of the room and call it done.

But, now that is done twice a week (with everything being wiped down with a wipe every evening). I use the steam cleaner to get all the harder spots sometimes.

Disclaimer: I'm not much for spending my entire Saturday cleaning my house. With that said...

Shower/Tub: While showering, I squeeze a little shampoo on a scub (not the one I use on my body, btw) and do a quick rub down of the walls/floor. Takes literally 2-3 minutes - do it every other morning.

Sink: I keep Lysol wipes under the sink. A quick wipe every evening before bed is all it takes. I also use same wipe to do toilet seat. 1-2 minutes tops.

Toilet: Brush is soaking in bleach mixture in a crock next to toilet. Do a quick swish of bowl a couple of times a week. 30 seconds.

Mirror: I just spot clean as needed. 30 seconds.

Rugs: Throw in the laundry whenever the mood hits, lol.

Floor: I sweep the floor every morning (I shed like crazy) with a Swiffer that is kept right in the bathroom. Wash the floor once a week. 5-10 minutes.

Honestly, it doesn't even seem that I "clean" my bathroom because I do it in small pieces throughout the week.

Another thing you can do is just make it a point to wipe something down (sink, toilet, shower) everytime you use it throughout the day/evening.

THIS! (replace scrubbing bubbles with spray bottles of vinegar or bleach solutions) My kids do their own bathrooms following this method every weekend. Takes maybe 15 minutes start to finish.

Wow OP, you use a lot of products!

I spray a bleach solution in the shower and let it sit. I spray a bleach solution in the toilet and let it sit. I rinse the shower the next morning.

I spray a vinegar solution on the mirror then wipe. I spray the sink then wipe. I spray the outside of the toilet then wipe. Then I spray the floor and wipe it with another larger rag with my foot.

5 minutes, max. I don't let it get dirty enough to do a deep cleaning.

Today my bathroom cleaning routine started at the sink. I scrubbed- my teeth, spit, then rinsed the sink.
Sprayed the toliet down (not telling you with what!) then flushed.
Started the shower & tub next. I used soap...to scrub my body. Then lathered... up my hair. Cleaned...my face. Then final rinse of everything in tub.
After drying myself off threw towel onto floor & mopped & polished the floor by stepping on the towel with my feet to clean the excess water on the floor. Then tucked towel & dirty clothes into hamper. Entire routine took about 20 mins.
Next I'm off to the kitchen to clean-my plate. That routine is much quicker. ;)

I don't use disposable wipes at all. They cost WAYYY too much. Spray cleaner and a rag or paper towel on the mirror. I think it makes a difference in time spent b/c it takes me closer to an hour for 2 bathrooms.

The ones I use for daily cleaning come in a big container for maybe $2 (not one of the big brands). Well worth the time it saves in me not having to do really deep cleaning. We wipe everything dow every night after showers (dd in her bathroom and me in mine). It keeps the room clean everyday without a lot of work. Use them for everything but the mirror. The "big" cleaning I do twice a week takes maybe 15 minutes.
