I just noticed on my Disney Visa Rewards flyer, a coupon code for Great Wolf Lodge :yay: I'm thinking of going for a few days with my SIL and our kids. I know nothing about this place!!

I'd like to get a themed room for the kids, but we're 2 adults, 2 kids and 1 toddler. All the themed rooms have a pull out sofa :headache:, which I'm so not interested in, but might have to deal with. I'm thinking of getting the Cub's Den or Kid's Camp room, any info or tips would be appreciated.

Also, any info on the restaurants, magi quest, etc... would all be helpful.

The kids are 5, 4 and 2. We'll be going to the PA location for 3 days/2 nights in July.

Thanks in advance!

We have been going to GWL at Poconos since it first opened in 2005. We go every year over the Christmas/New Year's Break, and once during April. We absolutely looove it :thumbsup2!

We have had the Kids Camp and Wolf Den rooms. The kids love the bunkbeds, but end up on the pull out sofa every time!

The food is buffet, and we enjoy it. I can't remember the fixed rate, but I don't think it is too bad. KIDS UNDER 3 EAT FREE!!! When the waiter comes to the table, make sure you let them know. The first time we went, DD was 3, but because she is tall, they figured she was older and didn't mention it to us. I found out the next night, but it was too late :headache:!

MagiQuest is fun, but can be expensive the first time you go (you have to buy the wand, along with the program) Then there are the wand toppers, which cost more. If you have a 5 and 4 year old, they may not be able to follow the scavenger hunt, but they will enjoy pointing the wand at the different objects to make them open or light up (I cheated the last time we went...I bought the hunt for my older DD, but not the younger one. They both had wands, so when they pointed it at the object, it lit up...my younger one never realized hers didn't work).

They also have the Cub's Den, where the kids can make arts & crafts.

It is clean and so much fun! Feel free to PM me with any other questions. Have a wonderful time!!!!!!

We've been a few times - prefer to stay on the waterpark level. We get a kids cabin, because it's the smallest we fit in. My kids loves magiquest, and we only got one wand, but yours might be a little young, and it takes forever! Get there when it opens, to get chairs. I thought the buffet was just okay, and not worth the $ - there are plenty of choices outside the hotel.

Thanks for your replies!

I'm thinking the kids won't sleep in the Kid's Camp or Den. We'll all probably be more comfortable in a standard room with two queen beds.

I'm clueless about Magi Quest. I know one wand won't work with 3 kids. Especially since my DS5 and DN4 fight like cats and dogs! :rotfl2: Whatever one has, the other has to have the exact same thing!

Sounds fun! I'm looking forward to going!

Thanks.

We just got back from the GWL in the Pocono mountains this past Saturday. It was very fun, It was myself and dd6 and my bff and her 6yr old son. We had a Kid Cabin suite & the kids ended up sharing the top bunk because they both wanted it so badly LOL. We did purchase the Paw Pass which was $78 each & included a magicquest game, wand & wand topper, 20 arcade tokens, build a bear animal & outfit, color your own tee shirt or pillowcase in the Cub Club, Sport Sipper water bottle at the park snack bar & the Shaker at the Loose Moose Cottage. It saved about $20 total & was great because it included lots of treats and activities for the kids to keep them entertained the entire time.

Were you able to add two Paw Passes to your one room reservation?

I also saw on the website that if you can prepurchase the breakfast buffet for $30 for a family of four. I wish they would indicate the price of the buffet so I can see if this is a deal or not.

Does anyone know the current buffet breakfast and dinner prices?

This is a great deal! I hope they are still offering it when we go back!

We had a kids cabin last year. My girls loved the little cabin area in theory, but it didn't work that well in actual usage. The mattresses were thin vinyl and didn't have mattress pads - as a result, the sheets slid all over the place and both girls ended up in a mess of tangled sheets each night. And, the beds were cold at night b/c they just had sheets and a little throw blanket. We wound up opening the sofa bed every night.

We are going back this summer, but booked a room with 2 queens and a sofa bed ... I think it's called a family suite or something.

Wow! Those beds sound awful! :sad2:

I have the same concerns with the kid's cabin! I know they'll like to hang out in there, I doubt they'll sleep in there! I'm going with the family suite too. :thumbsup2

If you're planning to go this summer Sun-Thurs, the Disney Visa Rewards code is WOLF. You DO NOT need to use a Disney Visa card to book.

So, any thoughts on the food... Isn't it always about the food! :rotfl2: I'm thinking we'll do the buffet breakfast. I haven't heard anything positive about the dinner. How much of a hassle is it to leave for meals? Sounds silly right, but Disney has me so planted in one spot I hate the whole idea of off-site :rotfl:

We went last weekend to GWL in Sandusky (family of 5 - kids 7, 4 and 2). We get the Royal Bear Suite which has a separate room with a king bed. The main area has a regular double and a fold out couch plus a little kitchenette area with a microwave, fridge and bar with seating for 5. It was only a little more than the kids cabin and it is nice to have the kids in their own quiet area while we stay up late watching TV etc. We take some of our own food for breakfast and snacks.

The buffet breakfast for my DH and two older kids was $26. I remember seeing the receipt, but I don't remember if this was with or without tip.

It is SO easy to leave - you park your car by the door closest to your room. The closest restaurants are within a few minutes of the Lodge.

What is the current savings using the WOLF discount? The website does not seem to let you enter a code atleast until after you enter all of your personal information. We are thinking of making a trip this summer and would love to save some money!

Ok, I guess I was not looking well enough! I just found where to enter it! Thanks for the code!

I have been to great wolf lodge in the poconos. We did not go this past year saved $ for Disney. Anyway we really enjoyed it, but feel you only need 1-2 nights. The buffet is ok but we really take advantage of the fridge and microwave. We did not get a fancy room. It was only myself DH and DS5. We also did not do magi quest, at the time he was not really aware of it since we were in the waterpark the majority of the time. He did enjoy stopping in the cubs den for a break and do some crafts. I enjoy being on the waterpark level as well. DS has asked to go back, maybe this upcoming winter.

20% off rooms from Sunday to Thursday now until Labor Day

We brought our own breakfast and lunch food. We also brought beverages and snack items. The rooms all have fridge, microwave, etc. We went out to a chain restaurant for dinner (olive garden, etc.).

Can anyone tell me approx closing times of the waterpark. I am wondering if it is usually 6 pm or 12 pm. I know it varies. We'll be going in two weeks.
