Getting a discounted AP with resale DVC

As others have mentioned (on numerous occasions), there are a few resale members who slip through the cracks when initially purchasing the Sorcerer Pass, but once renewal time comes up, they absolutely won't be renewing them. Sure, you can let it expire and roll the dice on getting another "new" one, but to each their own...
I am resale only and researched this a lot recently. It seems like the system tightened up a lot over the last nine months or so. I didn’t even bother trying and just bought an Incredipass.

Yeah, you might get lucky and slip under the radar on the new purchase, but because you can only renew over the phone with DVC MS, and they verify that you have a qualifying membership before they renew it, the odds go down to zero on renewal.

wow thats impressive. Did DVC MS renew the pass or how did you accomplish it?

Assuming you are not a FL resident?

Not a FL Resident, we already had the Sorcerer's pass and just called MS and they renewed. Was pretty cut and dry to do. I did wonder if they'd renew but they did.

I get the fact that some direct members don't like it, but here's my thoughts. Obviously , I'm biased.

But Disney got their money from the original purchaser of the DVC contract which was sold at full retail.

They then get money on the transfer.

Resale owners pay the same Maintenance fees every year that a direct member pays.

The only argument that would apply about "costing" Disney money would be the fact that if you couldn't buy resale you'd have to purchase direct. But then again, real estate laws allow the resale of DVC.

For us personally, we were 30 seconds from purchasing a 200 pt Direct Riviera contract in March of 2020. However, COVID had literally begun in full the week we were there and the unknown made us stop as we were literally about to sign. So a few years later we just bought resale (not riviera), but we didn't know about resale in 2020 anyway.

So, if MS at times will renew or give a sorcerer's pass to a resale member I guess I don't see that impacts Disney at all.

Direct still gets quite a few benefits that resale members don't.
