Anyone else have trouble with these folks? I understand they have offices/properties in several cities.

DFi just moved out of a Boardwalk property. He wasn't happy with them while he was living there - rental payments were automatically deducted from his bank account and they deducted twice a couple of times, on-site managers were non-responsive, they tended to give less than 24hours notice of things like cleaning the parkade and you need to find some place else to park your car etc. The former building manager had... strange hours. One never knew when he was going to be in. The current one seems to work 3 half-days a week and that's it - if you have any problems outside of that time then too bad.

DFi gave notice that he was moving around the 15th of July. He gave written notice, and was told more than a week later that oh, BTW, you have to use our official form. Fine. He said he'd be out on the 30th of August (forgot it had 31 days). He moved his stuff out of the apartment August 27 - had a very difficult time doing so because the building manager was nowhere to be found to lock off the elevator despite it having been pre-arranged, although she apparently did show up at some point because it was suddenly locked off (no note on it). We cleaned the apartment top to bottom on the 29th (apparently forgot the dishwasher, oops). He wasn't able to make any arrangements with the building manager before then to do the final inspection of the apartment, but did see her on the 29th and made the arrangements - she wasn't available on the 30th (not one of her days to work), it would have to be on the 31st. Fine.

Well he got his security deposit back, with some deductions on it. Including roughly $50 for a broken mirror/door on the bathroom cabinet - the cabinet doors were stuck and wouldn't move, and he did complain to the previous manager about it who said he'd "take care of it" and did nothing. There was also a fee deducted for "late notice" of moving and roughly $50 deducted for loss of income because the inspection was done on the 31st instead of the 30th as listed on the notice he gave.

DFi, of course, will be disputing some of the charges. I think he shouldn't get hit for the mirror since he did ask (more than once) for the mirror/doors to be fixed and nothing was done. His lease was month-to-month and only required 1 month notice, he gave 1.5 so there's no way that he gave late notice. And it was the building manager who wouldn't agree to doing to inspection on the 30th thus resulting in it having to be done on the 31st.

Several of his colleagues have also had problems with Boardwalk properties.

Anyone here had problems with them?
