Osbourne Lights NOT showing this year

Muffy - never mind - I figured it out reading through the posts. The information is on the Canadian website (www.disney.ca) under Walt Disney World Vacations under Special Events. Please notice the website has not been updated with the dates for MNSSHP, so my guess is it is out of date. No mention of the lights on the US Disney website.

Please remember this is just a rumor. Osborne lights are listed on disneys web site as going up at MGM for Christmas 2003! That is good enogh for me!

The actual man who owns the lights is, however, saying that they will not be displayed this year. WDW is notorious for leaving things up on their site until the last minute. A prime example is park hours.

I emailed Disney 3 days ago, and asked if this was true.

I also informed them that we would not be visiting Disney Studios if it were true, and that we'd go to Universal to see the Macy's floats instead, as a major part of the reason for visiting that time of year is to enjoy the special holiday displays.

So far, I haven't heard a word back from them. :)

mom2twinz3 - Great minds think alike!! I have also decided that in the absence of the Osborne lights, I will use that time to go to Universal. I have tentatively booked a two-night stay at Universal's Royal Pacific Resort and plan to go see the Macy's parade and Grinchmas. I will drop two nights off my Disney reservation and spend 3 days at Universal.

I'm just waiting for the offical word from Disney. I have not received an answer to my e-mail to them, either. I can understand if there is a good reason not to display the lights, but I think it's really sneaky to try to keep it under wraps if that's what they are doing!!!

Don't is always seem to go....that you don't know what you've got til' its gone.

THEY PAVED PARADISE AND PUT UP A PARKING LOT!!!!!!!

This should be a new thread on the Universal boards, but what does Universal offer for Christmas? What is Grinchmas?

Thanks MickeyMagic for that E-mail address I sent them
a E-mail to I don't think it will change anything but I will
try I love Disney anyway.

:( :D

Thanks for the e-mail address. I sent them a letter and got a message back that they will get back to me ASAP. Not sure when that might be.

Here is the reply I received from WDW Guest Communications in response to my e-mail asking if the Osborne lights would be shown at MGM this season:
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you for contacting WALT DISNEY WORLD!

Traditionally starting at Thanksgiving, the Walt Disney World Resort will celebrate the holidays with more than 1,400 decorated trees, 7 million lights and plenty of garland, ribbon and holiday carols. Returning holiday traditions will include the Country Bear Christmas Special and parades at the Magic Kingdom Park and the Candlelight Processional at Epcot.

We also encourage you to visit the "Special Events" section of our Web site, closer to the fall season, for updated information. ...

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Since it seems intentionally vague and does not directly answer my question, I am fairly certain of the real answer -- NO OSBORNE LIGHTS THIS YEAR!
:( :( :(

I saw your post this morning. I walked into JC Penneys this afternoon and guess what was playing over the speaker? I had to laugh. It's an old song, what are the chances?

wow! I am disappointed... I may just change my plans the only reason I made reservations was so my husband could see the lights he has never seen them.... We had a Huge group of us planning on going for a week in December just to see those lights and shop... I dont want to go with out the lights. How sad not to see mickey at Christmas.....
Since things are so slow you would think Disney would wait for the revamping of things after the first of the year when it is slow anyway... When people find out the lights are not going to be there I bet things will be even slower.

We've been going to WDW for years but I could never talk my DH into going in December. This year we are finally going. I can't express how disappointed I am.

I've heard so much about how fantastic the Osbourne Lights are -- I just can't believe it.

Lizanne Don't give up hope yet and by the way there is
much more to see then the Osborne lights and the Parks have
lots of Christmas thing to see. Yes I know its a big part of
going to WDW. You have to remember this is a rumor and all
rumor may not be true. I have been going to WDW for 20
years a lot at CHristmas. I love it with the Osborne lights or
not I still love Disney at Christmas.

:D

We seem to be fated not to see them!

We visited Disney in December of 2001 when husband was hospitalised for emergency major surgery. Fortunately he recovered well. We managed to see all Christmas offerings EXCEPT for Osborne lights (he was just too tired to last out until 6pm - CM's were handing out the glasses as we made our way to the exits). We promised ourselves another trip this December, when they would be our priority. Oh dear!

Well it may just be another reason to visit in December again.

Annie.

There was no mention of them in our notice to renew our PAPs this year either. Just dates for preview of MS and MP

just had to say: Grrrr!!!!
this is almost enough to make me want to cancel my plans.
Osborne Lights was the best attraction at Christmastime, IMHO, and i was so looking forward to showing my grandma (who has never been to WDW ever). :(
 i'm writing an email to Disney also.
