Orient Beach Question

Does anyone know if there are any places to go snorkeling at Orient Beach? And if so, what part of the beach is the snorkeling closest to - the north end or the south end?

From what I understand, the north end of the beach is considered the "family" beach, with most people being clothed. Is this right or do I have it backwards?

We went to Orient Beach on our honeymoon cruise (Princess) and went to the beach specifically because we heard it was a nude beach...so we could get a good laugh. There were a few nude people there, all quite older folks...so be careful.
It was a beautiful beach, and we had a very relaxing time there. I don't recall whether or not they had snorkeling equip to rent, but I would yhink they would.

When we were there the waves/swells comming in were 5 or 6 feet in height - not ideal snorkeling conditions. We heard that snorkeling on St. Maarten is an iffy proposition: gets a lot of wind and stirs up the sand quite a bit so visibility is not so good.

We had a great day there. There were very few ladies going around topless in the area we were at. A couple of people came strolling through total naked. Trust me, it wasn't a sight to see You can be asked to be dropped off in the "family" area or the nude area. They do overlap so don't be surprised to see some nudity while there. We had kids age 8 to 14 with us. They are NOT raving sx fiends now. Don't worry/stress about it, and your kids will not hardly notice (they were having fun on the beach, in the water and getting their hair braided (the girls only had their hair braided)

The beach is beautiful. The water warm. It was a great day. I would do it again. We went on our own, not a DCL excursion (only about 10-15 per person round trip + 10 for chairs and umbrella - way cheaper than disney's price)
