Can anyone help please, My sister is taking her granddaughter to Orlando next month, she suffers from cerebal palsy and is in a wheel chair. She has been told by the special needs dept at Virgin that she has to see her rep to find out where she has to go and take her orange badge and a Dr's letter to get an USA badge which she has to pay $15 for. Is this true or can she use the UK Orange Badge.
Any info will be a great help.
Thanks in advance.
Sue

I have no idea what an orange badge could be, but if you are going to WDW, you will not need to pay for any extra permits, or whatever, to use the special parking lots, get the GAC, or other accomodations. :) The parking attendants at WDW will honor any legitimate proof of need for special accomodation, adn even if you don't have proof, they will endeavor to do the right thing.

Feel free to ask any questions!

Thank you Terri for your replay. The Orange Badge/Blue Badge (Just changing in line with europe) is what us Brits use in our cars for privalige parking.

Su Su,

I have driven (and parked) rental cars in USA with nothing but my United Kingdom Orange Badge (equivalent of USA blue disabled plackards). I have used it at Disney and been wave into the 'disabled' parking zone by the CM at the gate. I have parked at Malls in 'disabled' parking spaces and never got a ticket.

In theory, the Orange Badge isn't recognised so you ought to follow Virgin's advice.

Having said that, I have never got a parking ticket.

It all depends how lucky you feel.

Andrew

Thank you Andrew for clarifying that. I understood the orange badge was some sort of handicapped parking permit, but I couldn't figure out why you would go to Virgin Records to get a permit. Then I saw you were from the UK and I figured out it is Virgin Airlines.
We have a handicapped parking permit from our home state of Minnesota in the US. We have sometimes forgotten to bring it and instead added a short note to our WDW resort parking permit to indicate we had forgotten it, but did have a child in a wheelchair. We were lucky and never got a ticket, but as Andrew mentioned, it depends how lucky you feel. I would feel lucky and not worry about parking at any WDW property. In fact, a WDW guard told us they are quite lenient about parking since they realize they attract people with special needs from all over the world. We have never been quite brave enough to park outside of WDW without our parking permit.
