Options for family of 6?

The cabins at Fort Wilderness aren't for everyone, but if it was me, I would get a cabin.

Now, you haven't given us a lot of information, so I am going to assume a few things (sorry if I am assuming incorrectly).

#1-The cabins have only one bathroom, but they are close to clean, community showers and toilets that you can also use.

#2-There is easy to access laundry facilities, so you could pack lightly and do a load or two of laundry.

#3-Assuming you would want to take a break during the day, you could put the younger kids down for a nap in the bedroom, while the older kids play outside, take a walk with one of you (assuming two parents are coming), watch tv, etc.

#4- Magic Kingdom is only a boat ride away.

If you consider the cabins, I suggest you look at pictures and look into the bus system. It is not complicated, but it can see that way for first timers. Read up about it. Also, the cabins are fairly new, which is great.

Youngest is 10 months, then 3, 5, 8.
@Pooh2 then you only need a room that sleeps 5 as the 10 month old would be in a pack-n-play or crib, and does not count in the room headcount.

This opens up many more options at WDW. Two (2) moderates: POR and CBR have guest rooms that sleep 5+ a child 2 or under. Both of these resorts have what are known as 5th sleeper rooms.

All great points. Definitely leaning toward the cabin now. It's a little more than the value suites but looks better suited for our family. And lots to do around the campground!

This does open up a lot more options, as the 10 month old doesn't count in the capacity limit. But you'll also want a big enough room where you'll all be sane enough sleeping...

I would look at the cabins and the bed configurations there....but I'd also look at the hotels on the monorail loop or the epcot resorts, as those rooms tend to be on the bigger side.

If you're driving in the cabins are fine, but logistically I would not want to rely on bus to 3 parks with that many kiddos. (I forgot there was a boatlaunch there)

That door at the cabins will be helpful.
I would put the kids in the bedroom and parents and 10 month old in a pack and play and use the Murphy bed out in the living room.

After poking around the prices of the value suites and the cabin option, leaning toward the cabin for atmostphere and more room.
I forgot about the cabins! They have all been replaced under DVC, so they are all new. There are a number of YouTube videos out there so you can see them and compare to your other options.

We are booked at the cabins ourselves in January, but I have a feeling it’s going to be a “one and done” for me. I think I am going to
Find that it’s too remote for me once I account for the additional internal bus ride to get to park transportation or driving to the parks ourselves. And that’s just me (on a scooter) and my husband. With 4 kids and 2 strollers? That would be a big nope for me.

I think AOA would be a better choice. The Skyliner goes to both Epcot and the Studios and is easy on easy off with a back to back double stroller. In addition, DVC resorts can sometimes be difficult to book depending on your dates and how far in advance you are planning.

I think two bathrooms is a must. Think of how your house is set up.
Do you put your kids to bed and then relax ? Early risers, sleep in, go to bed late ?
A kitchen maybe a must .
With 4 kids, one being an infant, your needs are different than many.
You want to enjoy YOUR vacation and the cost may be higher to have an enjoyable visit.

But how do they get to the boat?
Good point. If they are not close they would probably have to take the internal bus.

Unless they are staying on the monorail or wilderness lodge they will have to breakdown the strollers to go to MK it seems.

My family is also a family of six. In 2015 we went for a NYE trip. The four kids were ages 5 to 11ish at the time. We stayed in the family suites at AOA. And yes we toted a double stroller ina nd out of those busses. I would highly recommend AOA family suites. It has two bathrooms which was super helpful. The pull out sofa and pull down beds are quite small but is perfect for the ages of your kids now. And DH and I had our own room and bathroom.
Fast forward to July 2018. Four kids were ages 8 to 15ish. My oldest two kids are boys and they were getting pretty big at that point. And it was our first trip without a stroller. We stayed in some sort of suite at the Wilderness Lodge that slept six. The suite we were in was on the first floor and gave us access to the Club Level. The club Lounge itself was on a higher floor. It was nice to experience access to club level. However, I can’t recommend this because there was only one bathroom. The bathroom situation has become a deal breaker for us.
Happy to say we are going again in about two weeks!!! This time our kids are ages 15 to 22!! They are all full grown adults so no AOA/sofa sleepers or pull down beds will do for us anymore. In order to not completely break the bank… we will be at CBR in two rooms. Kids in one and me and DH in another. I called Disney and requested the Jamaica section(close to skyliner) and they flagged us as traveling together so our rooms will be close hopefully. I don’t even need for us to have adjoining rooms anymore lol.
Finding space for 6 is tough, but I would really recommend AOA for you now. That second bathroom goes a long way even though your kids are young. Good Luck!
