opinions needed... sleepover on a school night?

I would never even consisder it. Also my kids would never ask.
Certain requests like this one are a definetly NO.

Granted, my son is only 7 months (SOB) but I remember being allowed to stay at my friends houses that I went to the same school with. One day is not going to ruin the child. We would have pizza and then go to bed at a later time than usual, but not late - probably 10 - 11. I was up that late at home anyway.

They won't necessarialy remember what they learned in school that day, but they will remember that you let them have fun....

My children don't ask, I guess they know what the answer would be. I'm not even crazy about them spending the night or having someone over every weekend. I limit them to twice a month. After working all week, I want quality family time.

Now here is my question - At what age do you let your children attend boy girl dancing parties? I have an 11 yr old girl and she is one of the last ones not able to attend such parties. I'm a Girl Scout Leader, so I'm around all her friends and I hear them talk about boys and the stuff that goes on at these parties are ridiculous. Am I too strict?

Melissacan, my 11 yr old ds is in 6th grade and his middle school has a dance once per month on a Friday from 6:30-9pm. That is the only boy/girl dance he has attended. I chaperoned one of the dances so I know the supervision there and feel okay with the school setting and parent/teacher supervision. I don't know that I'd care for a boy/girl dance party at age 11. I think I went for the first time at 13 and even then it seemed like too much making out was happening around me.
