If you could give ONLY one tip to a newbie what would it be?

I think my one tip would definitely be "try the Beverly at Club Cool. "

Most things a newbie can find on their own through websites and guidebooks but this a good one I found on the boards that me and my family had so much fun with!

My tip would be...

Don't expect Disney to provide all the fun, or be a blast all the time (I expected that my first trip).
Know that there will be times when real life invades the fantasy world and you'll be waiting in line, have a bad seat at a parade or show, or be stuck in traffic. You'll need to make your own fun with your family at those times!

Don't expect to see and do everything. Allow for a resort day, to kick back and relax at the pool. I guess that's 2 tips...:-)

This is definitely a good one. This can lead to frustration for a parent and result in a cranky kid. Enjoy the little things even if they don't seem to be perfect.

Have realistic expectations. If you expect non-stop, 24 hour a day Disney perfection you are setting yourself up for disappointment.

When people aren't having fun any more ... stop. Even if they're just hangry and a quick stop for a snack will leave 'em raring to go again.

Stay on site. Be at Rope Drop. Travel off season.

Great advice. I'd add:

Use Fast Pass. Make at least a couple of advance dining reservations ahead of time. Break in your shoes ahead of time (and/or use Moleskin or Bodyglide to prevent blisters). Bring at least two pairs of shoes per person (in case it rains; your shoes might get soaked). Get used to walking several miles a day before your trip. Don't expect a "perfect" WDW trip. Be prepared for heat/humidity if you travel from May to October. Realize that it often rains in Orlando, so be prepared for some afternoon showers. Have at least a "loose" plan of what you want to do each day, so you don't waste time standing around trying to decide what to do next. Eat at non-peak times (early lunch, late lunch) to avoid crowds at restaurants. Keep a sense of humor!

See! I couldn't help myself - or limit myself to one tip! Have a great time.

Take some time to just view the castle & park and just enjoy being there. You miss a lot when you gogogo.

This! I'm always stuck behind a camera and essentially miss everything. Last time we went I didn't take one picture. It was so nice to be able to actually see everything. But I did miss having pictures when I got home.

Stopping (off to the side) and staring at the castle is one of my favorite things to do.

If you are taking your kids on the trip, let them experience the magic at their pace and in their own way. Letting them discover it themselves makes it so much more magical and fun.
