only???13 more sails till sept 14 wonder??

Is it possible that a necktie is overdressed for a beach wedding? Maybe its socially acceptable if worn with no shirt, Bermuda shorts, and flip-flops. I'm SURE the basic thong bikini is WAY underdressed - we would never want to create a faux pas during someone's wedding!

Me, the Mrs, and kids had a great weekend. We worked on landscaping most of the day Sat. Sunday we went to her parent's house for dinner and Hobo Pies on the campfire. It looks like Monday will be more labor... need to finish the landscape work in the back yard.

:Pinkbounc :bounce: Can't wait... Just get me on da boat!!! :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Bye for now,
John

Hi, everyone! I've been away so long...I think I met Gail on another thread, but tonight I just plowed through 19 pages so I could get re-acquainted with you all. I am the "Susan with 7 girlfriends going" that Gail mentioned somewhere along the way.

This will be my fourth Disney Cruise in two years. I know that is no record, but I get MORE excited with each cruise.
My "Time Left Clock" greets me everytime I boot up my computer. Right now it's reading 13 days, 18 hours and 00 minutes.
I am so ready (except for packing of course) I can't stand it much longer.
I cannot believe that some of you are packed - even partly - already. Anybody want to come to MD to help me??? No matter how soon I start, I know I will be up half the night on 9/12 packing for our 8am departure 9/13. We are staying at the Radisson at the Port Saturday night. Our plane gets in around 10 am, so we'll be there by noon. Hope to see some of you around the pool.
I'd like to go to the Jetty Park (?) that afternoon to watch the Magic sail, but will not have a car. Wonder if we can rent from Avis for just a few hours???

May we join you all on deck 10 starboard for sail-away?
If so, I'll be visiting our local Home Depot soon.

Can anyone tell me how I get to the website with videocam of Wonder's departure? Is it the "official" Port Canaveral site or some other?
On Sept. 6 at 5 pm I'm hosting our group's final pre-cruise "planning" (read pina colada) party (we've had three already over the past year) and I'd love to have the computer set up for all to see. None of the others have sailed with DCL before, and only one of them has EVER taken a cruise.

Now, for the sad news:
Like Stacey, I too, ask for your prayers and good thoughts....one of our group lost her husband three weeks ago. He had a heart attack while cutting the grass. She is just starting to get her life back into a BIT of normalcy and is REALLY struggling about whether or not to go on the cruise. Of course, the rest of us want her to go - especially her cabin mate and best friend - but none of us can know how she really feels....I just can't imagine the rest of us without her...or her at home without the rest of us.
She's coming on Saturday to our gathering - I think that's a good sign - and will make her final decision then. I pray that we can be the friends she needs right now.
Thanks for listening and keeping us all in your thoughts and prayers. I hope you'll be meeting all EIGHT of us two weeks from now!

Susan

Susan,
I am so sorry for your friend. How awful, I can't even imagine. I will pray for her. I hope you can convince her to go, it won't be easy for her, but you're right, staying home wouldn't be easy either.
The site that I have that actually shows the ship sailing by is: www.twopalms.com. I can't find the exact web address for the Port cam.
Coleen, I saw "Friar", it looks pretty "hot".
I, too, would like to stay up late enough to go to a club. Haven't ever gone. Maybe on the night before our sea day! My other goal is to get thru this wedding without jumping ship. Speaking of weddings, (were we?) the kids went from having everyone wear tropical clothing for the wedding, to tux pants & shirts with no ties, to tux gear with ties, to tux gear with ties and vests, and now they want to wear FULL tuxedos! Black, no less. I tried to tell them that they are going to roast. Megan has a traditional gown, and the girls have lavender bridesmaid dresses, each a different style. My dad is escorting Megan, and he refuses to wear the vest & jacket...I don't blame him. I'm not putting it on Jared, either. Jay is wearing a short sleeve shirt & black pants, no tie....and under his shirt.....one of those t-shirts that looks like a tux. After all the pictures are done, at the reception, he's going to take his shirt off and show off his tux. Megan will probably be really mad......but that's half the fun of it! If she really has a hissy-fit, I may take MY shirt off, too. Give her something to really be upset about. (Can you tell that the bride is irritating us?) Believe it or not, there's a website www.tuxedotshirts.com!
Susan, of course you and your friends can come up to Deck 10 with us.....you're part of our group, too! Right after the boat drill on the starboard side.
Sounds like it's been a "Labor" weekend for all of us.
I won't pack till a few days before, but I have an endless list, and most of the clothing grouped together in the closets.
Well, guess I better go. Just had to catch up...didn't even turn on the computer all day. :(

Two weeks.....unbelieveable! :Pinkbounc

susan such a hard time for your friend..sounds like she has good support from all of you.

touch the castle for me we wont be there till next year!!

We are staying at the Polynesian! None of us have ever stayed there before so we are really looking forward to it!

We have been camping with our friends and their three little kids this weekend. (in their back yard!) It was fun. The first night was Hot, the second night we FROZE! and last night was perfect!

We are packing this afternoon!!!

Hi Susan, glad you found us. I was going to e-mail you this week to see how things are going. I am so sorry to hear about your friend's loss, I can't imagine what she's going through. I too hope that she is able to join you all and us too! I'm glad to see that she has all of you for support. Maybe your cruise party will help her a little. She might need a lot of encouragement from you all to see that it is "ok" for her to go on this cruise.
How are you getting to the port from the airport? If by limo maybe they could drop you off at the Avis/Budget/Hertz locations and you could rent a car for the day. As you already know all of my family will be at the Radisson - we are planning on going to Grills for dinner and then probably back to the hotel to hang out by the pool. You won't be able to miss us!!!!

Tammy you probably won't be getting anything in the mail for your flight. That paper you printed off should have a reservation number on it and at the airport they will use that number and your driver's license to verify what is listed in their computer. Are you flying out of Flint, Lansing or Det Metro?

Just think Stacey, Megan will be back to normal in 2 weeks! Keep telling yourself that you can make it through this. Nothing a little rum won't help!

The sail away party is held on Deck 9 at the goofy pool. We are planning on meeting on deck 10 starboard side overlooking the party. Tammy it will be mid ship and very easy to find. From there we will be able to see the cast members from the terminal wave to us with their Mickey hands and we will be able to watch the party from there, plus it won't be as crowded as it will be on Deck 9.

Oh good it's raining!!!! We don't have work on the landscaping today!!!!!!

Can't wait to meet everyone in less than 2 weeks!!!!

Gail

Morning everyone I hope you all are enjoying you DAYS OFF:mad:
while I toil away saving lives:smooth:
Anyway its a liquid morning here in Illinois. I hope it get this all out of its system by the 13th, our son plays football and its better footing when dry.

So did all of you who did practice packs get them done?? Have you checked the tip threads to make sure you have everything and lastly did we WEIGH our bags? Remember some airlines have a 50lb limit per bag (some are still 70lbs).

Meeting everyone on the starboard side midship after the safety drill. We are on deck 6 near the front on the starboard side. Not sure where we go for the drill. Maybe one of you talented and creative people could p/u a piece of lime green paper and make a small sign for all of us to use as a meeting signal.

Susan, I hope your friend is able to make it, without all her friends around her the house could be very lonely. Good luck convincing her.:)

Steve

Thanks, everyone for your concern for my bereaved friend. I'm hoping our TLC will encourage her without making her feel pressured.
Airtran definitely doesn't mail anything else with E-tickets. We have flown/are flying Airtran, too. Just show the printed confirmation and photo ID at curbside. That paper is also your "ticket" home, so keep it in a safe place. Most of the ship's cabins have in-room safes.
And watch out for UNITED on maximum weight limits. I had to pay an additional $35 on a checked bag coming back from Chicago in June. My bag was 12 pounds over their limit. They told me the ground crew's union prohibited them from lifting anything over a certain limit without a special "heavy" tag and an extra fee.
I've discovered that some of my "soft" sided luggage weighs more empty than an old hard sided pullman I stopped using because I thought it was too heavy!
Gail, we are taking "Happy Limo" from MCO to the Radisson and back. Thanks for the suggestion....maybe we can rent a car for the day.
13 days 1 hr and 21 minutes till sail-away.

Susan

Well folks just finished watching a special on Disney Cruise lines on the travel channel. Now I am REALLY READY to go. Had a wet weekend of camping, good thing we have a trailer. Susan, I hope that your friend decides to take the cruise. Sounds like all of her support team will be on the ship. Well we will see you all at the party.

Dale

Dale we just watched the same show about the cruise. Wasn't it great!!!! It kicked up the excitement level a couple of more notches!!!!!!!!!! For anyone else that is interested, it is going to be reshown on Sept 5 from 9PM to 10PM, Sept 6 Midnight to 1AM, Sept 7 from 2PM to 3PM on the Travel Channel. All the times are EST.

Gail

Thanks Gail, for putting the dates and times for the show on Travel Channel. I always keep missing it!

My friend made me (Ha) go cruise shopping with her today. I've been "done" for a long time...but, guess what... I found new stuff to buy!! She is such a bad influence! ;)

I'd love to make us a sign....but for once in my life, I'm saying "not me"...too much other junk to bring. Actually, though, do you think there is a support post near where we are meeting? I guess there wouldn't be, since it's deck 10. I can make magnet signs on the computer (made one for Megan's door) and they really easy. The support posts on the ship are metal, so it would stick. I'll check & see if I can find out. I know they're metal, because I was walking, talking and looking behind me when I met one face-to-post. Can't chew gum and walk, either. The guy sitting right there thought it was pretty amusing.:o

Two weeks from tomorrow, my first baby will be married. And Tammy, BITE your tongue! No grandbabies yet! She has a puppy that I have to watch all the time as it is, tonight she called and said "Come get him..if he wets on my floor one more time, he's outta here!" I just said "Gee, so sorry....but NO"!

Gail (#1)......You're right on track!!

Athene, we stayed at the Polynesian last year & totally loved it! We were told twice by Disney that we could have a room at the Grand FLoridian (we did Land/Sea & were Cat 3) but we tld them no thanks. I wanted that Caribbean feel...and we definitely got it!! I fell in love. The only thing they could improve on would be their restaurants. I wasn't too impressed with O'Hana. We did the Luau, and it was great. You'll have so much fun....I want to go! :(

Off I go...making it in early night...long day tomorrow..payroll & end of the month books, yuk. Oh well, guess it pays for the trips!

13,13,13,13,13, Almost 12....11, 10, 9, 8, 7, yippee!:Pinkbounc

We did some cruise shopping today also. Told my dh that he HAD to have some new shirts. I did not want to see him in another shirt with some sort of computer stuff advertising. Of course, I did have plans to go and check out some more stuff for me, but can you believe it, the store closed at 7pm. Did not know that until they announced overhead that the store was closing in 15 min. Oh well.... My two oldest kids are taking me shopping Saturday to get me a couple outfits as part of my birthday. If they only knew that just the fact that they want to spend time with their mom is a gift in itself.

See you all soon:D

Athene we stayed at poly the very first time we went we loved it!
iwatched the dcl travel show too!
we are flying out of Flint
is airtran part of united??
puppys are fun! but grandkids well they cost alot of money:D

I'm back form a long weekend visit to my folks, and came home JUST in time to seethe Travel channel show! We all watched it and got very excited! DH Ron and DD Katya finally got see what I've been planning...it's about time!

Finally got the cruise docs filled out...

Counting donw the days! Yippee! Borrowed some great sun dresses from sis.

Hanging in there, only a few more days ! We'll keep our fingers crossed for the upgrade for huckster!
Very busy this week hopefully that will make time go quickly;)

Steve

Gail (Newby) how old is Katya? I thought you told us somewhere before, but don't remember.

10, 9, 8, 7, .....now the time is actually going TOO fast...seems like I still have tons to do, but I really don't. Must mean I'm getting nervous!

Working on a lime green sign for our meeting. Thought I could wear it around my neck, on a lanyard. That ought to really get Steve in trouble. Nah...I'll find somewhere to put it. Watch, I'll be the last one up there, I'm always late, then we won't need it. I'll try to be on time.

See ya real soon!

Stacey

i really need to get to home depot!!

I have a sign designed and saved in my computer...just need to print it out and see how it looks. Is anyone out there really artistic, that would rather make one themselves by hand??
I have a friend who is so great at that stuff, the things she does by hand are so much better than what can be done on the computer, so if one of you fits that description, please make something! I can't even draw stick people!!
Let me know.
Off to work, later guys!
Stacey

Your sign sounds fine to me. Just let everyone here know what it looks like so we can find it;). As I type this in just a few minutes it will be 10 days and a few hours to go. Good thing I have to work a lot of those days. It will make the time go faster.
We have not started packing but have started deciding on what to bring. My sweet and WONDERful wife bought me some new sandals for around the pools and on the beach.
