Here’s the situation. I’m arriving at MCO at 12:00 on Sun 1/29 and was hoping to hit the EE DVC preview before the park closes. The thing is, I don’t want to use one of the days off my ticket. I have read that guests in the past have used a one hour shopping pass to go into the parks for a little. Does anyone know if this is still available and if it’s an option to use at the AK at 4:00? If not I figure I could always go the gate and plead my case and if it doesn’t work out there’s always next time.

I don't think they do the shopping pass anymore. I haven't heard of anyone doing this for quite sometime.

Call Disney and ask ahead of time. Just be honest about what you are wanting to do and you might be surprised at what they tell you.

Also, if you try to just show up, go to member services (I'm assuming that there is one outside of the gate) and tell them your situation. They might comp you a ticket (if you are very nice and act like you don't expect them to do it). Given that there will only be 1 hour of park time left they might understand!

I know that they have the ability to do it, it just comes down to asking the right person in the right way.

Good Luck!!

A few years ago, I had seen some earrings in the Emporium, but didn't get them right then, figuring I would see them everywhere. Well, it was our last day, and I still hadn't seen them anywhere else. We didn't have anything left on our park passes. I went to guest relations and explained that I wanted to go in and get the earrings. They gave me an hour and kept my drivers license as collateral. They were great about it.

With all the DVC members and AP holders trying to ride EE, I seriously doubt you could get out of the park in less than 1 hour. I bet there will be a line to ride.

I agree. I don't see how this can be done in an hour! The line will probably have a wait of far more than an hour alone.

They don't have the shopping pass. If you are trying to do this on a preview day you may have a harder time.

They may wind up stopping people from entering the line at a certain time as well if it gets too long towards the end of the day.

Doesn't anybody see anything wrong with the fact that the poster wants to try and use a "shopping pass" to be able to ride a ride without using one days admissions? How about the rest of the people who just want to eat in the restaurant in a park but don't want to use a day or don't have park hopping? I peronally don't see how they will allow you to go in to ride a ride or do anything without admission and I'm not quite sure how you would plead your case for this.

I actually do see something kind of "dishonest" about this... However, I am not really worried... ON www.mouseplanet.com they said the line for CM previews were 80 minutes!!! Plus a CM posted on the DIS that they were expecting "Easter" crowd levels this weekend.

So even if you get a shopping pass, you would probably have two options... Actually shop and leave in under an hour or stay and pay!!

If Animal Kingdom's Guest Relations lets you leave your license to go in and shop at 4 PM an hour before closing that day, you had better be back by 5 PM even though people still in line with a 60 minute wait at Dinosaur will be allowed to ride. Otherwise you will have to pay about $67. (cost of a 1 day basic pass) to get your license back.

According to Corey Sandler (author of an Econoguide Disney tour book) park closing is the latest moment that a guest may join a ride line.
