A group will be headed down in a couple of weeks for a competition at Disney. There will be a lot of activities and SOME park time around the activities on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The kids were given Park Hoppers. Friday the group will all be together in Animal Kingdom. Saturday is free time after 3p and Magic Kingdom closes at 11p. Sunday is up in the air and I foresee very little free (park) time. The chaperone parents have very little Disney knowledge and one mom insists on splitting Saturday between HS and MK. Her kid really wants to do TSMM. IMO, It's a waste of valuable time to hop for a few rides when we have minimal time as it is. The other parents are so limited in their Disney knowledge, that they're being too chill and just going with this one parent. I am telling them that between transportation, security, etc. hopping is just not efficient use of time that day. She's insisting. My kid just wants to be with her friends.

What do you all think? Am I being too helicoptery, or definitely practical. Should I insist, or let it go?

Thanks.

I would never hop from/to MK if I wasn’t a local passholder because it takes so long to get into the park. Even as a local, I rarely hop to/from MK. MK is an all or nothing for us, with few exceptions. For eight hour (max) park time, I would most definitely not hop. It takes a good 30mn to get into MK arriving by car. They’re better off getting fp for HS for Sunday and spending what little time they do have Sunday at HS.

If I was going to hop, I'd do a MK/Epcot hop or Epcot/HS.

But I'm also in the mindset that if this is like a "bonus trip" for your crew let other people do whatever they want, if this is the ONLY time they'll be down.

Agree with this. Usually the only time we will ever hop is going to MK. That is if we start off early morning at another park and then hop over to MK early to mid afternoon. There is so much to do at MK and 3pm-11pm is really not a ton of time to do a lot there.

Any chance you can have the group separate in two, the people who want to park hop and the people who don't? And then meet up at MK when the hopping group arrives there.

Why does it matter?
Let them do what they want you you do what you want.
As long as the children are with an adult you shouldn't ALL have to go to the same park at the same time.

I bolded what I thought were the most important points in your post. A kid really wants to ride TSMM and your kid just wants to be with her friends. The other parents are chill with this. It sounds like it's more important to your child to spend time with her friends and no one else seems to care if part of their time is used to hop. Just let it go.

THANK YOU!!!! What this mama needed to hear :) :) :)

With extra magic hours and Magic Kingdom being open until 1 am during certain times of the year, personally, is when I park hop there, especially if I can finish up AK or HS by 6 pm, then I'd take the "hour" to get to MK and finish my night there.
