Speaking of the playground... did anyone notice that it sort of resembled the EQ's castle from previous episodes? With spikey like petal things made out of metal??

She did say she got the design from his book and if memory serves me correctly they have shown a sketch of the castle in the book before they zoomed in and went on with a scene in it.

Don't know if this has been mentioned or noticed by anyone yet but my DH and have noticed that the cars being driven are all older cars (original bug by Emma and older MB by the mayor) and last week in the diner we noticed that the payphone was rotary dial and they even had a man in the background go over and check for change in it. We have noticed other things including the price of the playground that just don't go with present day values.

Does anyone else think that maybe the Storybrook story is taking place in the past (70's) and not the present? Do you think that would leave open a whole other story in the future?

But Emma's phone looks like a smart phone.

Last nights episode wasn't my favorite either. It wasn't my cup of tea at all. I too thought Emma would be smarter than that, unless she too is playing a game.

I wonder if she built that playground and something is hiding under it or concealing something of some sort.

What was Gold doing out in the woods with the shovel a few episodes ago? Is that the same land? Maybe Gold buried something and Regina built her playground over it?

I'm wondering whether he's the big bad wolf -- during his date with MM/Snow, he really fixes his eyes on Ruby/Red.

Then again, a "whale" of a tale is a lie -- could he be Pinocchio?

I am CRAZY about OUAT, but I was disappointed last week. It was way too convoluted. And I'm worried about the Beauty and the Beast episode next week - I don't get Rumplestiltskin being the beast, because the whole point of that story is that Belle's unconditional love turns the beast human again, and we already know Rumplestiltskin stays nasty. Hopefully it will make sense. The best part of OUAT is the fact that it's a legend based entirely on Disney, so it's a fine line between honoring those stories and screwing them up.

But I'm not giving up - some episodes of LOST were clunkers too(and Disney + Lost = my idea of TV paradise!)

Most obvious would be Monstro the Whale. I'm not sure about Pinocchio. We saw him as a little boy helping Gepetto build the wardrobe right before the curse. There was no time for him to grow up.
