Once Upon a Time~ PART 2~

The last 30 seconds of last night's episode was the biggest letdown ever. And right after the most jaw-dropping moment..finding out the rescued woman was Maid Marion and what this will do to Regina next season!

Elsa? Really? If it were the Snow Queen I might give it a pass, but the character looked exactly like a live action Elsa. Frozen didn't exist when Once Upon A Time began its first season, so it should never even come into play. Just a shoehorned character to do current popularity. I am so disappointed with the writers for selling out this way. Yuck.

Everything else about this episode was absolutely epic!!! I loved the Back to the Future references! I loved seeing a lot of characters/situations from Season 1. This was a phenomenal episode save for the ending. I am sadly not looking forward to Season 4. But hopefully I'm, wrong about this b/c I love this show :)

Well, we don't know if her name is Elsa or not yet. But I don't think they are selling out at all. For the show to remain popular they have to keep introducing new characters, how many more options do they have?

I think originally didn't Robin Hood say his wife died from a mystery illness? I'm wondering if Regina never actually killed Marion and that she had escaped somehow on her own...so now Emma actually saved Marion and messed up Regina's love life for nothing.

I loved this finale and am excited they are bringing Frozen into it. I think Elsa will be evil but maybe with a backstory that will make us have sympathy for her...and who knows maybe will redeem herself.

I wanted Regina to have a happy ending as I love her but this isn't the end of the show, just the season. They need to have some conflict or the show would be boring. I think in the end Regina will get her happy ending, just not yet.

That's what I thought, and why I was so surprised that is who the woman was. Remember he wanted something from Rumple to save her and he stole it and when Rumple went to kill him; Belle stopped him. Maybe I have the timing off and that happened before she was put in the Queen's prison. Or maybe she was supposed to escape all along?

They really played up all of the love stories: Snow and Charming, Regina and Robin, Emma and Hook, Gold and Belle. Just after they had us feeling good, they threw a wrench into Regina and Robin. You know they are going to do something to disrupt Gold and Belle. After they brought back Marion, I expected them to bring back Rumple's wife (Bae's mother) to disrupt both the Gold/Belle and Hook/Emma love stories.

If that was Elsa, she was dead because her ashes were in the urn, right? Was she good and Rumple kept her ashes in that vault to ensure he could keep his Dark One reign? Was she Neil's first love (before Emma)? Will she be good in everyone's eyes except for Emma's? Is Elsa the little girl that was adopted at the very beginning of the episode? The one who Emma was jealous of?

Finally, what is the status of Emma's powers? She had powers in the Enchanted Forest but now that she came back to Storybrooke, is she powerless again?

"Best line of the show was when Hook wanted to leave Marion in the cell, saying she could change history like hitting a dwarf with a wagon so there would only be 6 dwarves."

I think my fave line was when Emma referred to the coronation and said you aren't going to go to the clock tower and hold up the baby ala Lion King LOL

My favorite line was when Emma was hesitating when they asked her name at the Royal Ball and she said, "Princess . . . Princess . . . Princess Leia" and called Hook Prince Charles. :happytv:

What I didn't like how they rushed Belle and Gold's wedding. Why wasn't everyone there?

I understand how television works, believe me. And I am all for the introduction of new characters. That's what story & plot are built on. But there are PLENTY of fairy tales, fables, children's stories, etc, out there. There's no reason to just use the newest Disney film for synergy/marketing purposes. That's when you know they were pressured by ABC... Remember, this is not just about Disney movies. It NEVER was. Sure, they used some of them as a basis for names (Ariel, Belle, etc.), but Rumplestiltsken, Red Riding Hood, and Hansel & Gretel are just a few of hundreds of classic fairy tales that were never adopted by Disney, but were used in Once...And Frankenstein, Wizard of Oz, King Arthur...these are classic stories that have nothing to do with Disney. There are limitless choices. This one is a cop-out. Plain and simple. To write a character into a story from a film that was released six months ago?? Yuck. Just yuck. Where is the creativity here? No. Let's just sell some more toys & Blu-Rays. Edward and Adam caved to the network. End of story.

:thumbsup2:lmao: We were laughing so hysterically at that line. Thank you Fios for letting us pause live TV!!!!

(and then later "Wait - YOU were Princess Leia??")

Awesome Finale yesterday...I hate waiting months for more!

When I first saw the "urn" my gut said Genie from Aladdin...I still thought that when I saw the blue pour out but WOW was I surprised. (I wonder if the Genie was the initial plan and the writers decided to change the script based on Frozen's popularity?)

I thought the moment of Emma calling Snow and Charming mom and dad was awesome. Great story told there...Emma finally feels like she's at home.

The Gold/Belle wedding in the woods was strange...but their relationship will come to a head and it will have something to do with the fake dagger vs the real one that's hidden away.

I think the Marion/Hood/Regina saga will be intriguing and a key to next season...I don't think Regina will turn evil but will she now look to travel through time to change the past?

Didn't mean to insult you, just have a different opinion.

It has been reported that the writers are huge fans of Frozen and that they have said before they would love to incorporate Frozen and Brave into the show.

When they showed the captured woman going into custody and then Killian talking Emma into not rescuing her, I figured it was a short object lesson about not polluting the timeline. When she and Emma were later both in the same dungeon, I decided she was more important than that, Emma would get her out, and there would be dire consequences because of it.

Perhaps it's because the Regina-Robin romance never set well with me (it's just wrong), but I immediately reasoned that she was Maid Marian. Emma would save her, reunite her to Robin, and Regina would once again lose out on love -- this time because of the daughter of the one who wronged her the the first time . So that wasn't the least bit of a surprise to me there when that unfolded.

But that last scene... Wow! I was wanting to see some facial clues as to who it was. All of a sudden, that flash of ice came out of her hand and I was in disbelief at what I just had seen. I rewound the DVR to confirm what I saw. And I picked up on the clues I missed the first time. I was so stunned I rewound several more times. That was Elsa. I agree with the idea that you can't just kill her off next season the way they did Pan and Zelena this season. The repercussions of that move could kill the show.

So FWIW, here is my take on things:

Regina can't simply bump off Emma without losing Henry. She might curse her or something, try to put a wedge between Emma and Henry, but that's as far as she can take it, unless she also does a memory curse on Henry. Likewise she can't simply get rid of Marian without losing what little she has left with Robin. At the same time, she can't let this turn of events go unpunished. Regina's heart will grow cold again.

Why did Elsa show up into this story? Remember the morale of the story of Frozen. Love can thaw a frozen heart. That will be what ultimately saves Regina from going totally evil again. But how?

As for whether this will be a good Elsa or bad Elsa, the way she zapped that urn seemed to me to have a scent of evil to it. Or at least anger. And that wasn't happy music playing when she appeared. And remember where the urn had been -- a place that housed stuff that was "too dark or unpredictable," even for Rumple. That one word "unpredictable" gives enough room that this is a good Elsa, but my gut says she's gonna be a bad girl. If so, the question as to whether we will see Anna come and help her to become good.

Meanwhile, I'd like to bring more attention to the significance of the urn. You want to talk about how killing her would be a bad move? True as that may be, now consider the possibility that she was dead already. Hmm.

I haven't seen last night's episode yet, but if they are going to use a new Disney movie that I don't plan to see as the theme for next season, I probably won't watch next year. I wasn't thrilled about the Oz theme even though I am a Wizard of Oz fan. I guess they have run out of fairy tales.

Is there a particular reason you would have no interest in seeing Frozen?

After reading online about the original fairy tale of the Snow Queen, I wonder if the character won't be more like that and not really Elsa at all. There is something about a mirror and the shards of that mirror and remember, the mirror that was in the room with the urn.

Well I guess putting Elsa at the end of the season finale was a clever way to make sure to get as many people as possible to tune in next season. Cha ching.

I do think it's a cop-out. Especially since she looked exactly like a live action version of Elsa stepping straight out of the animated movie. All the other fairy tale characters on the show, Disney or otherwise, have their own look that does not rely heavily on the design of their cartoon counterpart. Storybook and fantasy tales that they could draw from to create characters and story lines are practically endless. I'm sure they did not "run out of fairy tales". Plus there are many fairy tales that they merely touched the surface of that they could go into more detail with if they really wanted to. But if doing Frozen makes people happy, then so be it. I'll still be tuning in, even if it makes me roll my eyes a little.

Anyway, GREAT show last night!! Almost made up for the lameness of the Zelena storyline. I got a little misty eyed when Belle and Rumple were saying their vows (although, what was up with that "wedding"?).

I think, Elsa in OUAT is a brilliant move by ABC\Disney. I'm actually impressed, they had enough sense to use Frozen's popularity.

Yes and if it was the Genie, it would have fit with the merging of casts (at least some) from OUAT in Wonderland.

Didn't they already do a storyline with Genie? Wasn't he Sidney Glass in the first season? Regina cursed him to become the mirror? Or do I have that all wrong?

i thought it was interesting read and thought others might like to see it

Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed reading it. :)

It was a long episode and I need to watch it again but I didn't pick up on this:

TVLINE | And one last bit of housekeeping: All of the friendlies who were turned by Zelena into flying monkeys were returned safely?
HOROWITZ | Yes. We saw Aurora smiling happily at the baby naming…. Grumpy explained that she did not give birth to a flying monkey. What happened with her was the pregnancy was put into stasis as she was monkey-fied. Now she’s back to where she was.
