For a car...if I were you I wouldnt bathe for a week and Id forget the change of clothes....that might make them run. You can always refer to the TV show "Smart Guy" when Yvette and Mo were trying to win the Beetle they sang a song...

"I know a song that gets on everybodys nerves, everybodys nerves, everybodys nerves, I know a song that gets on everybody's nerves and this is how it goes." {repeat over and over and over}

First of all congratulations.

A local radio station here in Atlanta has had a contest like this twice. The last one was about 2 years ago. Be prepared....these contests can last a long time. I believe the last one the winner lasted almost 30 days.

Wow, I am wondering how they determine who gets to sit where? I mean, the shotgun or the drivers seat would be the best ones. I don't know how long I could last in the middle of the back seat....

Here is a little helpful hint. Take garlic tablets. The smell comes thorough the pores in your skin. I know once I went to a restaurant in this area and they serve roasted elephant garlic. I ate two whole heads (you were supposed to put it on bread but I wanted to save calories) I was in a copy room with one of my co workers. She was about 18 feet away from me and she was flipping out because the smell was so strong AND I had eaten the garlic two days previously. Evey time you have a break take a couple of tablets. The smell will kill them AND you will be fighting disease and lowering your cholesterol too!!

1) All food and beverages must be kept within the car. Can you imagine a small car full of soda cans, twinkie wrappers, and fast food containers! I would eat things that dont have wrappers or have someone bring it it to you wrapless.. like a granola bar w/o the wrapper, or grapes unbunched.

To determine the seat in car, it sounds like the fastpitch contest is a factor. I would practice my pitching arm quickly, or attempt to get a designated pitcher.

The Geo Metro hatchback is small, very small. We used to have a Geo Storm and there is no way, that 5 adults can comfortably fit in there, especially in the back. If you have to survive in the back seat remember your posture/behind.

I am so happy to hear you are in! They did one here and the radio stations were sponsoring it and it was a set time of 7 days. Each of three sister stations got to pick two "ponies". They were checking in on progress periodically and the other sister stations were bribing people out of the car. They all talked about the smell so get ready for that! I know you will win, you have pixie dust on your side!

The other article I saw said the seating was done on a rotation, each break you are rotated in the car so it's fair I guess. The stink sounds like a strategy might imploy that one.

I'm so nervous I can't get to sleep. I bought a portable DVD player today on clearance for $38 bucks so I will be bringing that along. I go tomorrow for the final thing and paperwork... wish me luck!

Gonna start a new thread about my participation in Car Survivor, I'm in for sure, it starts Monday night at 6:45pm... there will be a web cam, photo updates, quotes from us, etc on their site as well as NATIONAL news coverage... wow! I'm so nervous, will post new thread shortly with links to cam, etc. DFiance will update the thread when he can, or if any DISer's want I can call with updates, if anyone is interested in this... I'm bringing my cell. (They said they will charge it for us when needed).

There's a radio station here that has been having the "Ultimate Couch Potato" contest. Seven people started out living on a futon (one per futon) 30 days ago. The deejays started taking away privileges (no cell phones, no headphones, certain foods are now prohibited, spacing breaks further apart, no friends allowed) on day 13 to try and wrap it up, but there are two guys still there! After 30 days!

And they are outside in 98 degree weather and 97% relative humidity...we have had severe thunderstorm warnings every day this week and they never budged...

The worst part is, the prize is just a motorcycle.
