OLD THREAD: 2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 2- May, June and July DON'T POST HERE!

Hi there. I'm this has been answered but I'm here and want to just say that the sun came out today! Hallelujah! It went away sometime on Saturday and hasn't returned since! It tried to killed my camera and may well have killed my cell phone!

Anyway, it's still been an incredible vacation so why complain. A day and a half more to go.

Thank you. From what I'm reading, the worst seems to have passed. Let's hope that's the case! I'm glad you are enjoying your trip. Hope your camera and cell phone survive!:)

Someone please fill me in on what you do for breakfast. We are in a villa and will do some quick breakfasts a few times in room, but I want to know the best options?
Mostly before park opening places. What do you do for a quick breakfast, bring back to room type? Form where?
How about a sit down breakfast, we are usually the early type that likes to sit down for breakfast at or before 7 so we can roll to our park for the day. So what place is best for that?
Can be Yacht or Beach or give me another idea! I have in park breakfast plans for a couple days already, just need to get a grasp on our resort area breakfast options....that are good!

We've done a quick breakfast from Beach Club Marketplace and also from the Boardwalk Bakery.

Sit down table service breakfast at Cape May Buffet (BC) and the Captain's Grill (YC).

HTH!

Am I dreaming or did someone on here rent out the Grand 1 for something? Was it YCFAN? Anyone know anything about it? Was it worth it? Can we take the kids on it?

Sent you a PM.:goodvibes

Here are a couple ideas for nearby breakfast options

I am providing a bunch of links so you can explore further.

Quick Service:

BC Marketplace (Opens at 7 am):

Check out the link to this thread with pictures of the Marketplace menus and many of the food selections: BC Marketplace Thread

Here is a menu listing from the allears website: Beach Club Marketplace Menu

Ale & Compass at the Yacht Club offers some continental breakfast-type offerings. MickeyT sent me a bunch of pictures from A&C this week, but I haven't had a chance to upload them yet.

Nearby- Boardwalk Bakery has some offerings and Picabu Marketplace at the Dolphin is open 24 hours.

Here is a link to pictures of the menus at various CS restaurants around the EPCOT resort area. Thanks, Pixarmom!

EPCOT resort Counter Service Menus

For sitdown breakfast- Cape May Cafe at the BC offers a character breakfast and the Captain's Grille at the YC has both a non-character buffet and a la carte menu offerings.

To shorten the outside walk, utilize the hallway from the BC lobby that goes around the outside of Cape May Cafe. You will come to the door that leads out to SAB and Beaches & Cream. Use this covered walkway to go over to the YC. Unless the rain is blowing straight in, you should not get wet ;)

Thanks for the tip!!! :thumbsup2

For one, it allows us to get to our happy place earlier on our arrival day and for two, we love to stop in to Paula Deen's restaurant. It's kind of like the kick off to our vacation.:cheer2:

To all of those on their way, have a magical time!!

I have a Paula Deen story.... Years ago, on the way to Disney, we drove down, stopped over at a friends house in Florence SC for an overnight.... on the way down and then on the way back up again. (Good times!!!) Anyway she had family in Savannah so they made ressies for us in case the restaurant was packed. Locals could make ressies, out of towners would have to wait for 1st availability. So I had said that I wanted ressies at around 1 pm but her sister never got the message and made them for 12 noon. The time comes to leave and you know how it is when 2 girlfriends get together, so much to talk about and so little time.

We were running late, so like a bat out of hell I flew down I 95 trying to make that time. Somewhere in Georgia I hit what I like to call a fund raiser. Other people call it a speed trap. There was a fellow up on the overpass aiming the speed gun at me so I knew I was a dead duck. I pulled over right away, right by the on ramp connected to that overpass to see 9 patrol cars lined up to collect their bounty. I took my ticket and went on my way.

Later that day I called my girlfriend and let her know about the speed trap since she was always running down to Savannah to see family. She said "Oh I meant to tell you about that. They pulled me over right after we moved down here and before I got the license plates changed on the car". She said "As soon as I opened my mouth.... (she had a thick southern accent) the officer said "where are you from?" She told him she "was from Florence and she was driving her husbands car" (with the out of State plates). The officer said "YOU CAN GO!!!"

It seems I had the correct out of state license plate to contribute to the fundraiser... :rolleyes1

So we get to Paula Deen's. I am thrilled beyond words as I approach the podium and in my best southern accent say " Hey y'all, Bridget's here for her 12 o'clock" We get in and everybody decides to have the lunch buffet. I am shocked at how skinny the chickens are and I decide that Paula needs to be introduced to Frank Purdue (Chicken king) as soon as possible. My husband takes my youngest up for seconds and he comes back with a big bowl of 'soup'. I think to myself "I don't remember seeing soup up there" but my boy is chowing down and making those moaning sounds a Mom hears when they are eating something really good. I decide that I must try this soup so I ask DS to pass the bowl so I can try it myself.

I take a spoonful and discover it's TARTER SAUCE!! My husband has given my son a bowl of tarter sauce and now I have to explain why he can't have it because his coronary arteries are closing right at this very moment simply from the amount he has already ingested.

My husband is no longer allowed to take ANYBODY up to a buffet and the Center for Disease Control has declared him a public health menace!

For the trips before we started using Garden Grocer we would always get something pastry like from where ever and hoof it back to the room for the next morning's breakfast. They have the in room coffee makers now so that takes care of that half of the breakfast equation. Since we are staying at the BC I can see us picking up something from the Market Place or even the Boardwalk bakery the night before. I always bring zip lock bags so I transfer stuff and it stays fresh as a daisy!

I know on one of the old BC/YC thread I read that they have breakfast sandwiches at the Beach Club Market Place and you can sit in the Solarium at tables and dine before you dash. The Solarium is said to be near the Market Place at the BC. There is also a cart at the Yacht Club that has breakfast goodies. I'm sure the others can fill you in on that side.

Good luck with your planning and have a great trip!

Thank you Robyn, Dee and Ninja Mom. Exactly what I was wanting to hear information/opinions on.

We will drive the last leg of the trip from Fairhope, AL and will stock up on room supplies/food before we leave there. This all helps on my planning as to what days Dad is going to cook up some breakfast and where to go on the others. The Captain Grill is more of what I was wanting to hear about as another character breakfast is like Cape May is not really what we need to add. CG looks perfect! Might as well just cancel the trip it if the girls can't get Mikey Waffles a couple of times

We usually do a grab and go on our last morning at the Main Street Bakery - tradition thing, but Boardwalk Bakery has just made the list - thank you!

Marketplace looks like the save if we get in a quick time situation.

You all are fantastic! :thumbsup2

Do you stop at Savannah's Candy Kitchen for some fresh pralines? Or the Savannah Bee Company for their fabulous honey? We were in Savannah for the first time last October. We stopped at the Paula Deen Store, but didn't eat at the restaurant.

We definitely hit the Candy Kitchen! I love fresh salt water taffy and the kids still like to watch it being pulled. Oh, and the pralines are fabulous too!! Not a honey fan so I haven't been to Savannah Bee Company.

Love Paula Deen's ! We try to eat there every time we go to Hilton Head.

We love it too! There is no way we can not include a stop there. In fact, we are heading there for Mother's Day next year....already have a ressie!! Which reminds me, for those who do not already know, they now take reservations for ANY size party up to a year in advance!:woohoo:

:rotfl2:This is hilarious!!! Mine is not a Paula Deen story(I do wish I had one of those cause I love her)mine is a Tarter Sauce story. While at Cracker Barrel My husband ordered the Catfish with Coleslaw...He was really enjoying his "coleslaw"(aka tarter sauce) even finished the bowl. When the waitress came up and apologized for forgetting the coleslaw. Me and our boys give him a really hard time when he eats coleslaw..... We start laughing when he orders...It is amazing where the memories are made...:rotfl2:

Well, at least your DH did not suggest adding the pat of butter "croutons" to the soup.

Very funny story!

Well its been three weeks since our amazing YC trip, and we had just the best time, not least our surprise upgrade from a SV to a LV which just took my breath away.

We also had a lovely time with the Noodle Family who kept DD and DS entertained for hours, going round and round the Lazy River. They're an athletic bunch. They showed us just how much they're looking forward to the London Olympics this year by putting on a little display for us

It was also the Queens jubilee whilst we were away, and to make us feel at home one noodle showed us how much he/she loves our Queen,by dressing up

ChipnDaleRule,
Glad you had a wonderful trip. That view was fabulous!
Loved your noodle photos! Thanks for sharing. :cool1:
