OLD THREAD: 2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 2- May, June and July DON'T POST HERE!

Kind of feeling silly asking, but what does RFID stand for? :confused3:rolleyes1

Radio Frequency Identification. They are little tags that interact with nearby readers to communicate small bits of information. You've probably seen one if you've ever purchased a hard cover book from Barnes & Noble. It's the little slip of paper with the patterned wire on it. That's what triggers the alarm when you walk through the detectors without paying and why they rub the book all over that mat at the register (to deactivate it).

Hope that helps!

Cheers,

Dave

Hi everyone I have read that some resorts offer a continental style breakfast using a QS credit which allows you to choose 2/3 pastries/croissant type things, a piece of fruit and a drink. I was wondering if this option is offered at the BC Marketplace? Sort of thinking this would feed more than 1 of us for breakfast:rotfl2:;) Thanks in advance for any help:)

Ohhhh. OK! I get it now! Thanks! :thumbsup2

Just want to check my countdown...since it now starts with 3 months!

They have RFID sensors to get in the rooms at BC. It through me for a loop cause I could not find a slot for my key card:lmao:

Hello everyone. We leave tomorrow. I will go into a little more detail how everything went when I get home, probably Friday. They installed new RFID sensors on the doors and some of the elevators here for Yacht Club Club Level. I will try to take a couple of pictures and post them on Friday in case anyone is interested. Thanks for all the well wishes. Our vacation has been wonderful. My son broke down crying today because it's almost over and my daughter is likely to do the same tomorrow.

The worst part of a trip to Disney is having to say goodbye! I completely understand how your son feels.....I'm an adult and I want to cry when it's over and we have to leave our Disney bubble. :sad1:

Wishing you all a wonderful last day and a safe trip home!!

We also had a lovely time with the Noodle Family who kept DD and DS entertained for hours, going round and round the Lazy River. They're an athletic bunch. They showed us just how much they're looking forward to the London Olympics this year by putting on a little display for us

It was also the Queens jubilee whilst we were away, and to make us feel at home one noodle showed us how much he/she loves our Queen,by dressing up

I just wanted to say I thought this was a hoot! Thanks for a well executed photo spread on the noodles. It's nice to see that the family does yoga together and it has greatly improved their flexibility!

As far as the RFID tags are concerned... I thought they were doing bracelets, some themed with Disney Characters, that you could pay extra for..... that would contain the info for your room key, charging privileges and park tickets.

So now that they are putting the RFID sensors on the doors how does this impact how you get in your room? Do you still use your room key card? Are the bracelets showing up yet? I'm really wondering about this..

Laffite, thanks for taking the time to post on your trip and keep us updated as to all the happenings! I feel so bad for your kids, mourning the end of the trip! One of the things I tell my kids (and myself!) is that WDW has been around for a long time and it will still be there when you are ready for the next trip.

Two weeks and two days until we leave!

I've been super busy - Saturday is DD's 8th grade graduation party (huge and here at my house!) and July 8 is DS's birthday party, also here at our house. One of the DISADVANTAGES of having an inground pool is that the kids keep wanting to have pool parties.

I need to hurry up and finish up these parties so I can get to the really important things - LIKE PACKING!!!!

Hope I can figure out these new fangles RFID things. Years ago my ds had to write out instructions for me just to watch a dvd after we switched cable companies!

Can't wait to hear all about everyone's trips!

Has that started already? I assume those are KTTW cards and not bracelets like the newer Value resorts will have?:confused3

The noodle family will be with someone else during my visit, so I was thinking of bringing a few. I hope this isn't a silly question, but I have not really ever used them or paid much attention to them before- would it be feasible to think I could pack a few in my suitcase, or am I way off base w/ the size & packability??

Ahhhh....now I really feel silly! I never noticed them there when I last visited...

We bought ours last year when we got there, think they were $4 a piece or so then gave them to a family that just checked in before we left.

Random question...what time do the movies on the beach usually start? For the record, we'll be there in Oct., Halloween week.

You just wave the key at the sensor on the door and it unlocks the door. After standing there staring at my door for like 10 minutes I accidently let myself in. It was pretty funny

I have been sitting at SAB all day . It has been amazing. I have to leave soon though cause we have fb for TSM and the DH wants to wander the world showcase

What a wonderful day for you!!!!
I love hearing about everyone's magical days!
I'm so happy for everyone that the weather has cleared up!:goodvibes

You can buy noodles at the Marketplace - sounds easier than packing them!

We bought ours last year when we got there, think they were $4 a piece or so then gave them to a family that just checked in before we left.

I think they are also sold at the poolside gift shop, Poolside Gifts. Also around $4 each.

Random answer. It changes every month. When I get a chance, I can go back and look at the October schedule from last year, or if you click on the link for the previous October thread, you may be able to find it there.
