OLD THREAD: 2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 2- May, June and July DON'T POST HERE!

Can anyone tell me if "swimmies" (those arm hugging floaty things) are allowed at SAB? I know noodles are allowed but what about other things? Thanks!

Our daughter used one of those vest style floaters, Bumble bee that had a pack in front and in back, and then connected at the sides and under the leg. They allowed her to use that coming down the kiddie slide and in the larger pool area...didn't try the big slide (it was a bit TOO big for her!)

Ninja Mom I'm starting to feel guilty!!!!!! Actually, Miss Debbie Downer was quite nice to us all things considered. She made park touring very easy. We were able to get tons of things done this trip. Temps were tolerable. We made the best of our time while she visited and feel fortunate we visited with her. We just arrived back to our room after touring HS this morning. They started letting guests in at 8:35. We got fp rock & roll, rode TS Mania, rock & roll in regular line and with fast pass and fp tower of terror. Out of the park at 11:15. Lines were 60+ minutes when we left and the bag check line was HUGE. Plans on MK this evening.

Hope everyone traveling to BC/Disney has as much fun as us! It has been great.

I haven't followed the weather at all since we came home from WDW but got an email from a friend who is there now. I felt so bad. FIRST trip ever -she saved to take kids and grand kids - and the rain is beyond rain she has ever seen. I feel terrible...Historically is June this rainy? We have gone 4 Junes in a row and get the pop up showers, etc. and an occassinal rain day but this seems beyond anything I have seen. I THOUGHT July and August were rainier (word?>?) -. LAST summer I was there in August and had myself sick with worry over a hurricane and it didn't rain a drop the whole week........

It's not just "rainy", it's because of the hurricane/tropical storm. I have a friend who lived in Orlando for a few years and she mentioned the other day that when she lived there, not one hurricane was felt in Orlando. This one is just particularly bad and practically formed out of nowhere, so I don't think this is the norm. But as I said, it's not really "rainy weather", it's the hurricane and since Hurricane Season starts June 1...I guess it's always possible, but as you mentioned, you've never seen it like this.

It's too bad her first trip is right now when they are getting slammed.

It is the pits....I read an article that stated this is the first time since 2005 a storm/rain of such magnitude was so early in the season. And apparently this is the 4th one so far this season (not orlando but storm nation in general for hurricane watch)...another record....Just the pits. Looks like it clears out by Friday/Saturday though and hope nothing else is in the footsteps.Maybe it is a just a rainy hurricane season this year...

I am here now and it is honestly not that bad. Arrived at MCO at 8:30 to gray skies but the sun keeps popping up all day. Light drizzle fOr literally a minute or two and then the sun struggles against the clouds for twenty minutes or so followed by a quick drizzle. Repeat.

I don't like rain but this is nothing

Hope that means it's clearing so people can really enjoy themselves. I think it was pretty bad for a day or more, so I hope that now they can get out and enjoy the World. Some rain can be fine, but the deluge that it looked like from photos I've seen could not have been fun.

oh good.Hope that means it is moving out.The horrible day she had was yesterday so hopefully things are improving. It has bugged me allll day thinking of a first timers trip with a Tropical Storm...:sad1: Glad to hear today sounds much better!

I can just imagine what's going through your mind. If the weather is awful and they end up having a miserable time, they'll never get the magic and then they just won't "get it" in the same way that we do. And don't we always want the first timers to love it like we do?

Does anyone have a picture of the walkway from Beach Club to Yacht Club? Checking in tomorrow, dinner reservations at Yachtsman's, but we're thinking of switching to Cape May to not deal with Debbie. Forecast has "Squalls" from 4pm-8pm.

I know the description from the first page says it's covered, and would be fine except for windy heavy rains... and squalls are basically super windy heavy rains!

Anyone's thoughts on this (sans pic) would be helpful, too. Thanks!

No pic- but I wouldn't change your res for this. It's a super short walk, and it's totally covered- even if it's torrential and blowing like crazy, it's sooo close that it won't make much difference. Enjoy!!

Am I dreaming or did someone on here rent out the Grand 1 for something? Was it YCFAN? Anyone know anything about it? Was it worth it? Can we take the kids on it?

Staying at YC garden view 9/25-9/29, before switching to the slightly more economical AoA (LM) for the last few days of my trip...

I've rented points at BCV a few times years ago, but never stayed at the actual YC or BC! The first page of this thread is wonderful and re-acquainted me with the resort. Can I be added to the Be Our Guest list? :goodvibes

You bet!

:welcome: back!

To shorten the outside walk, utilize the hallway from the BC lobby that goes around the outside of Cape May Cafe. You will come to the door that leads out to SAB and Beaches & Cream. Use this covered walkway to go over to the YC. Unless the rain is blowing straight in, you should not get wet ;)

Hi everyone! I hope those of you that are in the World are making the best of the weather and I hope Debby clears out really soon for you all!!

Time is getting close for us. We are down to 40 days! I just made our overnight ressie for our stop in Savannah. It has become a tradition to stop there on our way down. We only have an 8 hr drive but we like to break it up. For one, it allows us to get to our happy place earlier on our arrival day and for two, we love to stop in to Paula Deen's restaurant. It's kind of like the kick off to our vacation.:cheer2:

To all of those on their way, have a magical time!!

Do you stop at Savannah's Candy Kitchen for some fresh pralines? Or the Savannah Bee Company for their fabulous honey? We were in Savannah for the first time last October. We stopped at the Paula Deen Store, but didn't eat at the restaurant.

Love Paula Deen's ! We try to eat there every time we go to Hilton Head.

I feel much better after reading this. Thanks for posting. It probably looks worse on the weather reports because it's not specific enough to Orlando! Hope you' re having a great time.

Anyone who's there now, are you getting any of the fallout of hurricane Debby? I know northern Florida is, but I was wondering how it is in Orlando.

Hi there. I'm this has been answered but I'm here and want to just say that the sun came out today! Hallelujah! It went away sometime on Saturday and hasn't returned since! It tried to killed my camera and may well have killed my cell phone!

Anyway, it's still been an incredible vacation so why complain. A day and a half more to go.
