OLD THREAD: 2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 2- May, June and July DON'T POST HERE!

I've read that it's at the Sunshine Tree Terrace. I'll be checking it out (and reporting back) in a few weeks.

Dee - key lime mousse at Flame Tree BBQ is ok - not bad, but definitely nothing like the key lime pie that was their claim to fame years ago.

I look forward to hearing your report Robyn! PM me incase I miss it! I agree with the Key Lime Mousse at Flame Tree, meh.

Depends on what you want. Close to Epcot? Close to Lobby? Full balcony? Remember, a garden view is a view of anything green. Some of the views are of dense woods, some grassy area. If you don't see a parking lot, a roof or water, it's a garden view.

Yes, each day you show your individual room key and get a wrist ban that is good for only that day. You do not have to show your key anymore.

Bob keeps his key in his pocket in his swim suit and it gets soaked. Have no idea if it messes up the key because we always seem to use mine. I keep mine in the bottom of my beach bag which I keep on my chair. Nothing valuable is in there. The key isn't valuable really. Somebody could steal it of course but the room number isn't on it so it won't get them into the room. The second I get out of the water I check to make sure it's there. If someone were to steal it, I'd just go to the front desk immediately and get a new key which voids out the old key. I guess someone could quickly use it to buy stuff and charge my room key but I just don't worry about it. Guess I'm just very trusting.

Teena, I learn so much helpful information from your posts, thank you!!:flower3:
I hope you have a fabulous vacation out West. :goodvibes

I updated the Be Our Guest list this morning.

Once again, please take a moment to make sure you are listed with the correct information (or at all) and let me know if I need to make any changes.

Dee

Thanks so much for adding me and for all you do for this thread:cheer2: I have found so much info and wisdom from all the experienced Disers here to make our vacation memorable!!
Does anyone know if the Marketplace sells pins and lanyards? I would like to pick them up for my DS12 DS7 and DD 5 to start collecting/trading on this trip. Or should I order online before we get there? Thanks for your help!

I think we have to develop a plan to secure the Oreo Bon Bons for more than just one day a week. I mean suppose you are only at the hotels for 6 days and the next day after you check out is Oreo Bon Bon day? Can you just hear the anguished wails of the dearly departed when they realize they came this close ][ to Bon Bon heaven and missed!

Nope I think maybe we have to take matters into our own hands!

One (useless) idea could be we do a Oreo Bon, bon fridge exchange. How this would (not) work would be we could sell subscriptions to the bon bons and keep them in one of those fridges that used to make the rounds at the value resorts. The fridge exchange at the values is, in all probability, dead because the values now have beverage coolers. As one who believes in recycling I'm sure we can put those old, beat to death, box fridges to good use one more time with our Oreo Bon, Bon fridge exchange.

Ok, Ok I HEAR ya. Not practical.... Well another thing we could do is write to the hotel manager and make a case for keeping the Oreo Bon Bon's on a more regular schedule on the club level offerings.

Here is her contact info:
Mim Flynn, General Manager
Disney's Yacht and Beach Club Resorts
1800 EPCOT Resort Boulevard
Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830

I'm sure if you took the time to write and talk about how this Bon, Bon withdraw is affecting you they might realize that it's something they should reconsider. While you're at it, be sure and put in a plug for that Key Lime Pie dessert making a reappearance at the Captain's Grille. After all, us foodies gotta make a stand when they start scaling back on offerings for our sweet Fangs.

Can someone please tell me what type of coffee pot they have in the Villas? We have a Keurig at home and I can bring the K-cups if they will fit in the pot? If not, I will just pick up ground coffee when we are down there:goodvibes Thanks, Penny

I didn't make coffee, but I can tell you that you definitely cannot use Keurig K-cups in these coffeemakers.

My nieces thought I was nuts for taking a picture of the coffeemaker in their room. But I had a feeling that somebody might want to see it sometime.

Last minute trip! We'll be at the Yacht Club July 2-6!

Congrats! I love last minute trips :cool1:

Yes the coffee in the room is bad, it is also the exact same coffee they serve in the food courts and resturants.:lmao:

The reason some people ask is that the coffee maker is in the room where the rest of your party is sleeping. So strolling down to have your coffee with light is a big plus. Also BC seems to attract the early morning roamers....

I won't drink Disney coffee at all. My mom has to have coffee and she did say what she got at meals was better than the stuff she brewed in the room, maybe brewing method helps but they are both the same brand just different grinds and brewing methods.

Yes the only thing that drives my DH crazy at WDW is the coffee. We both love a good cup if coffee and the coffee at WDW just does not cut it for us  We are however willing to deal with it for a week at a time :woohoo:

I'd just take them into the Marketplace when you get there and let them pick out their lanyards. However, you should purchase the pin packs yourself. Your best bet is to purchase pin packs that hold 7 pins for $29.99. And yes, they are there at the Marketplace. They are the cheapest pins you'll find at WDW. And make sure you get them packs that you think they will not like. Don't let them pick out packs they like because then they won't trade them. Tell the kids they need to trade to get the pins they really want. As you probably know, CMs have to trade pins if they are wearing lanyards. It's part of our jobs. You look at our lanyards and pick out the pin you want. We cannot pick out which one we want from you. You decide which pin you are giving us as a trade. Only rules are: (1) you can't give us a pin we already have on our lanyard, (2) you can only trade two pins a day to each cast member unless you find a CM like me who has a bad memory (in which case you could trade two pins with me at 1 PM and come back at 2 PM and I'd probably forget I already traded with you), and (3) it has to be an authentic Disney pin (so don't try to trade me a pin from that other place that starts with a "U"). Lots of people starting their kids out in pin trading let them pick out expensive pins and don't get the cheapy pins. Remember, you are not buying pins the kids will like. You're buying them pins to trade for the pins they like. So if you purchase expensive pins or the cheap pin packs but still pins they like, you can forget about them trading pins. They will want to keep them all.

For you coffee lovers (and I'm not one of them): I've had various guests tell me that over in the lobby of the YC where they have that small breakfast area ... well guests have been telling me that their coffee is A++++ and not Nescafe. Maybe one of you coffee drinkers (again, not me - I even dislike coffee ice cream) can try that out and report.

And boohoo I'm still going to miss you!!

Boo hoo is right!! This will make two years in a row! I think my family is starting to think that I made you up :). We are all so bummed about it, me more than anyone!

At least I will be back in December for my annual conference! I'll have to have someone take a pic of us so I can prove that you're real, LOL!

Hi all!

I have 2 questions for our August trip

1. with all the coffee talk, can we bring our own pods for the coffee makers? Is there a certain brand? With 2 kids, if I try to sneak out there is no doubt they will stir!

2. do they have "kids" yogurt in the marketplace? like the squeeze ones? My boys are yogurt junkies, but they don't really like the greek style, fruit on the bottom type.

Thanks!

Does anyone have a photo of the actual coffee pod (out of its packet) so that I can get an idea of wether or not the coffee pods that I buy in Lidl will fit.

Hope this is what you are looking for...

Will check all things yogurt tomorrow.

Hello all. We are here at the Yacht Club. It's very nice here, weather wise but beyond humid for us California softies. I hopes to begin by going to rock n roller coaster this morning but first it was down and then when it came back up, the wait was 90 minutes (he!! No !!)

Anyway, we still managed to do 3 things at the studios, took a friendship boat to Epcot, ate lunch, did the seas and imagination pavilion before our room was ready.

The room is nice, the club level area is really convenient. Where we are located is about a mile walk from the elevator though. Guess we can use the excercise! We were in SAB for like 40 minutes and then we had to run back to our room to change for dinner (rose and crown).

Just got back a little while ago from illuminations(I was kind of underwhelmed, what can I say) and after debating doing extra magic at the Studios, everyone is in bed(except me, of course).

We are having a great time. I did want to mention to Teena that I'm sorry I didn't get over there. It just wasn't in the cards today and we probably only got like 80% of what I wanted to get done (sniff... sniff)

Tomorrow Magic Kingdom and Cinderella's Royal Table. I'll try to keep these mini trip reports done on my iPhone coming. We'll see how that works out.

About the pool, you show them you're card once and give you a wristband. That is good for the rest of the day. Someone asked that earlier. That's how they were doing it today.

Hmmm. I would say that something grassy would be nice. I'd definitely prefer that to dense woods. The lobby vs. Epcot distance doesn't bother us. I figure, we could use the exercise. :rotfl: Truly, as scenic as it gets in GV would be great. Is it weird to say I'd love to actually be facing some other section of the resort? I just think its so pretty. We just repainted the bathroom, and when asked what color I wanted it, I said "Beach Club Blue!" I actually brought a photo of the resort with me to Home Depot!

I tried to multiquote to thank both people for pictures. This is the pot they had in BWV last year so I am set. :goodvibes Thanks so much for answering. Penny:flower3:

Fiinally I can make a contribution to this wonderful thread.:thumbsup2 I am an avid pin trader and have introduced many young ones into this silly obsession. :scared1: I agree you should buy the multi packs and also agree you should buy ones they don't like. I once gave my youngest niece 20 pins for trading and she kept 18 of them. the other niece (twins) traded them all day long. she would trade for a pin and then a few hours later trade it away for another pin.

As a pin trader I am lucky when I come across a CM who has an expensive pin on their lanyard as the trader's parents bought them expensive rack pins to trade.

I buy my traders from Disney on line store when they go on sale. I also buy them from ebay. there is an extensive thread on the collectors board that recommends good buyers. There are many people who are selling scrapper or counterfeit pins so you do have to be careful. I have been buying the packs of 6 or 7 if I can find them. I try not to pay more than $3 for trader pins.

Make sure the pins are on securely, if they aren't they will fall off. Not a big deal if it's a trader pin, but a very big deal if it's a favorite pin.

Lastly, I hope I run into Teena a lot and hope that she doesn't remember me.:lmao:However, I wear a big red vest with all of my trader pins so I am pretty hard to forget.

Again, thanks everyone for all of the advice about this resort. We can't wait to stay here. :flower3: Penny:hippie:

Not nuts! Any detail about coffee availability and types of coffee makers in the room is vitally important!!!

May I add these pictures of the coffee makers onto the first page of the thread?

Thanks!

When entering SAB each person shows their room key and gets an armband-correct? If you leave and come back the same day do you Need to bring your room key again if you still have your armband on? And how do you not loose your room keys when at the pool?

Years ago I bought one of those waterproof cases you wear around your neck and key my room key in that. It's good at SAB and even better in the waterparks!

I remember reading that CL was open 24 hrs on a trial basis...but when we were there last June it wasn't open early. We are very early risers and around 6:30 they would set an urn of brewed coffee at the front desks by the elevator with cups, sugar, cream, etc. I hope this has changed because we get up at 530 and would love to get ANY coffee that early, even if it is Nescafe!

Thanks. 630 isn't so bad, but would prefer it earlier too. I can't use the maker in the room because kids and DH are light sleepers.
