OLD THREAD: 2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 2- May, June and July DON'T POST HERE!

Also, someone said that they are going to be staying at BW and that they could use SAB. Could you please tell me if they are right?

No, BW guests can not use SAB unless maybe the Luna Pool is closed and then they might offer them the use of SAB. There is no Pool Hopping allowed...so unless you're staying at YC/BC, you can't use SAB. Just like YC/BC guests can't use any of the pools at the other resorts (again, unless construction forces it to shut down and then they "might" offer another resort pool in its place.)

Thank you Kelleigh. I told them they could not use the pool. As, YC is the only place we will stay and you need your room key to get a writst band to use the pool. I was not going to argue with a person who is "always" right:rotfl:.

I know those people. In fact, one of the guys I work with is going a few weeks before us. His parents are staying at BCV. The other 20+ people in their party will be staying elsewhere, but him and his sister (and their families) intend on "hanging out at SAB" one afternoon because they did a Fantasmic pkg, but could only get a lunch, so they figure they have time to kill so they're just going to hang out with their parents at SAB and then take the boat back over to DHS in time for Fantasmic. I'm really hoping that their will be people on duty to turn them away.

LOL. From my experience during the summer months they check everyday. They even have people who walk around SAB and if you do not have your band on you have to get out and provide a room key. Sometimes they have even asked for last name, room number and number in your party, then checked their clipboard that has all the guest listed on it, to make sure it is you.

Teena, Please tell me where this area is. I do not remember the YC having a small breakfast area. This will be our first non-CL stay as we are doing the dining plan. Also, someone said that they are going to be staying at BW and that they could use SAB. Could you please tell me if they are right?

I am not Teena but I can tell you that I beleive the area you are referring to is to the right as you enter from the lake, just past the concierge desk. I never had any issues with the coffee there. But then I can drink just about anything as long as it's hot. I'll even put up with Starbucks if I have too.

As far as telling your freind who is always right that they are wrong, just be inside SAB when they are refused admitance and sit there and smile. That should make it all worth while.

Kelleigh1, sounds like the quiet pool will be a little busy that day when they don't get admitted to SAB.

I can't imagine this to be the case. The only way this could be true (please someone else correct me if I'm wrong), would be if the pool at BW was under refurbishment, and then perhaps BW guests would be allowed to use SAB. At the moment, the BW pool is not scheduled for any maintenance, so I don't see this happening.
DVC guests have some pool-hopping privileges, but per the FAQ on this site, SAB remains off limits.
In summation (What am I? Back in college?), if someone is staying at the Boardwalk, the only (honest) way they can be swimming at SAB is if the pool at BW is closed down for repairs and that guest has been granted permission to use SAB.

Whew.

That said..... I happen to love the pools at BW. Yeah, yeah, the clown is scary (and I LOATHE clowns), but I got over it fast. The pool is really neat, and huge. I love the music they play, the lifeguards are always great, the last hairpin turn on the clown slide is killer, and I adore the Dumbo-themed ceramic tiles around the edge of the pool. The quiet pool on the Inn side is lovely too, especially at night.

Teena, Please tell me where this area is. I do not remember the YC having a small breakfast area. This will be our first non-CL stay as we are doing the dining plan (I wanted CL, DH wanted the DP it is too much food to do both). My children and I will Miss Betty, Miss Barbara, Miss Shakira and MR. Gene they make our trips so special:sad1:.

Hoping to meet you on our next trip.

If you stand in the middle of the lobby at the YC in front of the big globe and look out the front door, if you put your right arm straight out to the side, you'd be pointing to a tiny little area (an alcove). They have breakfast stuff in there in the morning.

The only time someone at BW can use SAB is if their large pool is down for maintenance. Then they are allowed over to SAB. Their room keys will also be checked. If their pool is not shut down, they are NOT allowed at SAB.

Oh yes they will be turned away. They now check from the minute it opens until 10 PM at night.

Hope this is what you are looking for...

Just for my future reference-- is the "front" of the resort considered to be the Crescent Lake entrance? Or the driveway entrance?

I saw them checking at night for the first time last July.
I am soooo happy that they lifeguards consistently check room keys
at SAB. That's one of the complaints we had at the Polynesian - so many pool hoppers (and most of them didn't even TRY to hide it) that it was hard to get a chaise lounge or a table for the paying guests!

I have seen people turned away at SAB who thought they could pool hop because they were DVC.

Long time no talk my Beach Club friends. We just got back from our week at Wilderness Lodge (we had originally been booked for Beach Club Villas but had to change our dates). We had a nice time. WL has a ton of theming. Unfortunately, the theming was not very practical. A lot of space was devoted to it, which left a small crowded pool and only one not so quiet pool. And the had no delicious aroma like the Beach Club.

We went to breakfast at CMC and walking into the lobby was a literal breath of fresh air. (sorry we missed you Teena).

Hoping to trade in next year, I already put an automated search into RCI and will be checking daily!

We missed most of all:

SAB (daughter and parents who like her occupied).
Walking to Epcot. We missed this a LOT!
The distinct and beautiful aroma of the Beach Club lobby.

Can't wait to return "home" next year!

Will anyone be at the Yacht and Beach Club during the 4th of July Holiday?

We'll be there the 3-5th!

:)

Hey,

We'll be at the BC CL-GV July 4-8. Looking forward to seeing other DISers. I am not sure if we will have the BC pins ( I already messaged Nanette and am waiting to see). I always do have the alien green mickey head on our backpack and will make sure I post what room we are in so that anyone can drop by and leave a note if they'd like. If anyone wants to meet up, Let me know. We are hanging out at the hotel all day on the 4th.

counting down!!

I just made an appointment for Princess Lily's first haircut at Magic Kingdom at the barber shop on 8/3 at 11:30 AM. Anybody at MK that day: you are welcome to share (or hear the screaming) the magical experience with us.

I hope you take lots of pictures!

Quick synopsis of yesterday and this morning:

Arrived at BC @ 10:30 yesterday and immediately saw World’s Best Cast Member. The check in/check out desk was super busy as you might imagine on a Monday morning. Teena made sure we were taken care of and we were off to the 5th floor. To my surprise our room (4557) was ready. We were in by 11:15.

After some unpacking (love that wife of mine) and chatting with Teena we were off to EPCOT. (Got to meet gokimiko!) We headed straight to SSE just to get us in the WDW mood. “A Grand and Miraculous Journey”. After a few rides and just some good old soaking up the atmosphere we headed over to LeCellier for our welcome home dinner. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Never felt rushed. Spent a good two hours in there. It doesn’t seem near as busy as it once was now that it is a two credit restaurant. We came back to BC to enjoy some resort time. I grabbed the camera and went to snapping. I ended back at EPCOT for Illuminations. I left my tripod st home  so I did some not so good fireworks photography using a trashcan.

Today was an up early, up to the lounge for breakfast and over to HS for rides, rides, rides……..Note to any early risers for HS. I had read that they are now opening early so we arrived @ 8:40 and the gates were already open. Straight through and on to TSMM. Evidently the FP machines don’t kick in until after 9 and this was around 8:50. The CM’s were just handing out FP’s so I show my tickets and grab 4. Well the wife and daughter still hadn’t made it there yet so I handed my tickets to Pierce (DGS) and he grabs 4 more. So we rode, hopped on over to RnRR, grabbed FP’s and rode TOT. Then back to RnRR to use FP’s. Went back and used up TSMM FP’s and rode Star Tours. All this done by 11:30. Took the boat back and tried ESPN for lunch.
Everyone is crashing right now (except me of course). Still have not been in SAB but have a feeling that will come later in the week. Still pretty commando right now. We have dinner ressie’s at Via Napoli and nothing planned after that. MK and The Plaza for lunch tomorrow.

Till then....

Thanks for the info about the coffee. I wish we were going to be there at the same time, but unfortunately we will miss them by one day. I would loved to have seen her face.

Kelleigh tell them to take pictures playing in the sand at the pool:rotfl2:.
