OLD THREAD: 2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 2- May, June and July DON'T POST HERE!

Question about transportation for pre-opening ADR.

We've got an 8:05 ADR at CRT on a day that MK opens at 9am. What would be our best option for getting to the Magic Kingdom. We'll have a car, but will the monorails be running before 8am?

Would we be better off taking a bus? I thought I'd heard that the buses actually drop at MK and not at the TTC. Is this true? And what time can we catch the bus to get there early?

Anyone know what time they would start letting us into MK for an 8:05? We'd love to get some pics on an empty Main Street, of course.

We had an 8:05 at CP last week and used the bus without issue. We were at the bus stop around 7:15am and made it to the MK and were in the park around 7:50am. (Just make sure you go to the tunstyles designated for character breakfasts not the general admission ones. Last week they were to the left).

In fact we had FABULOUS luck with the buses last week, never waiting more than 7 minutes for one. (Disclaimer: We used taxis exclusively to and from DTD). Also, loved being at YC since we never once had to stand since we were first pick up!

Agreed that the park is not empty, but if you're lucky you can get shots like this:

You might look like a raving lunatic, but you can still get the shot.;)

And the bus is the way to go, as soon as you get through the bag check and turnstile, head to the left, they will ask you what your ADR time is and let you in.:thumbsup2

Thank you all for the info!

Love the picture too. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the info. I am hoping to angle it right, but I won't be too upset if others are in the background. As you said, definitely less people than we'll have later on in the day.

My Dad was a photographer, so I know a few tricks. Hubby on the other hand...not the best at taking photos. He hasn't figured out how to work angles. We were in Chicago last week and I took a pic of him along the river and then he took one of me. The one I took came out nice with the river and the city behind him. The one of me...I think he was more focused on getting the entire building, so I'm further away in the photo and almost unrecognizable. But at least I'm in some pics. It used to be that every trip was him and scenery. People used to ask if I was actually on the trip too because there were never any photos of me.

We took the bus for our 8:05 a.m. ADR at CP and it was no problem... We were late but not because of the bus!! MK was pretty empty - pictures in my trip report.

12 more days!!!!!! Couchy, I know you're counting down with me. I can't wait for a No Way, Jose at Beaches and Cream:cool1::dance3:

Teena, have you convinced Richard to take the 4th off or do we need to start the email campaign? :rotfl:

With all this talk about ADR's and transportation from hotels I finally have something that I can help with!

First, in the past I have discovered that the earliest that the CM's will let anybody in for an ADR at Magic Kingdom is 7:50 am. We always plan for an ADR at Crystal Palace at around 8:30 am and we show up at 7:50 and they let us in! We have the photopass photog's do their deeds and we also get to take our own shots with a minimum of intrusions. You can go anywhere on Main Street and around the Castle Hub, but you are prevented from crossing into the lands.

We are not big on the opening show or even being at the head of the thundering herd for rope drop so this suits our family just fine. We also get to size up the kids against the characters to see how much they have grown.

Of course now that the kids are getting older, a couple of well placed "If you don't pose with Pooh you're just going to have to find a way to pay for college yourself" threats go some distance in providing appropriate motivation for posing. For my youngest, an electronics death penalty provides just the right impetus for the desired behavior.

To battle against what I call the "surlies" when posing for pictures I have a "bad picture beauty contest" when we get home. This is usually held at the first family Holiday gathering where all the relatives are present and can vote on the winner. Any and all pictures are eligible and one year the kids cheated and took one of me sleeping which won in a landslide! (Pay backs!)

So there you have what our family does for early morning ADR's. All this talk reminded me to get crackin so I just made a Crystal Palace ADR for 8:30 one morning of our trip.

Another fly in the ADR ointment is that we are trying to make lunch ressies at Le Cellier and we are definitely in our 180 day window as per Disney rules. So far nothing is showing up and the sticky wicket seems to be the Candle Light Processional packages. Through other sources on the Dis Boards I have read that Disney is holding up releasing dates until July-ish, what ever that means. What it means for me is that every day I will be trying on line just to see when it opens up for real, and when I strike wild mushroom risotto and filet gold I will let everyone know!

My husband wants to see the Candles light again but neither one of us thinks it's worth it to pay a King's ransom to get a seat when you can wait in yet another Disney line and get a seat. Another little known quirk seems to be if a performer isn't as well loved, the stand by line has a much better chance, so plan accordingly my fellow cheapies!

OK that's enough from me for today. I seem to be on an every other day schedule as far as energy levels are concerned but I sure do appreciate all the well wishes I got from my Peeps here on the thread! Here are some dancing bananas right back atcha!!

Big hugs!

I know others have answered this but we are going to be going to Cinderella's Royal Table for an 8:05 ADR next Tuesday. My plan is to get to the bus station before 7 and take a cab if the bus isn't there by 7:10.

If we take a cab, it will drop us off at the Contemparary. That's my plan. We'll see if it works. I hope to be at the Magic Kingdom at around 7:35-7:40 or so. I will let you know how this works!

One Week!!:cool1:
I can't believe it's almost here. ADRs are done, packing has been started, 3 year old is potty trained - all that's left is to obsessively haunt weather.com and their 10 day. Still trying to wrap my head around all the rain we could be getting.

I am back from my BC CL stay. I posted my comparison thoughts in a seperate thread under RESORTS comparing it to YC CL. We had a great time, of course and wonderful Teena was there to greet us. MyDD13 who is quite shy just loved Teena. I had to PM teena several times on the trip to let her know things DD felt certain she just would be dying to hear! LOL. Teena is an angel and honestly if you stay at BC when she is there, you will feel like a dear friend is looking out for you......:)

Does it ever end?

Just got back from the dr.'s. Last week I found a tic on me (think I got it at ds's baseball game). It's been bothering me so I thought it might be infected. It's lyme disease!

Luckily the Dr. thinks we got it pretty early and after a 3 week course of antibiotics (twice a day) it will be fine. Unfortunately one of the side effects is to try to stay out of the sun - great inground pool with three kids out of school. How in the world can I stay out of the sun. I guess I'll just have to lather up the sunscreen.

Thank goodness we leave for Disney in 30 days - so I'll be done with the antibiotics by then. Of course I'll probably be a lot paler this year than in years past!

Scottmel - can't wait to go read your comparison thread. Hope you had a great time at BC!

Oooooh! Good luck with your Lyme's Disease. I had it years and years ago and the antibiotics did the trick so no worries.

On the BRIGHT side at least your family will be able to spot your PALE self in the parks against all that tanned flesh AND you won't need a night light in your room. Anyone who gets up in the middle of the night will just have to pull the covers off of Mom a lil bit and the whole room will light up!

Thanks NinjaMom - it's good to hear from someone who has been through it.

Luckily I have a base tan and will spend the four days before our trip tanning like crazy. I have three days over at the "Dark side" to tan up before I hit BC!

I have just discovered a more serious problem - Scottmel says they are doing away with the oreo bon bons in the cl lounge. I don't know how
I'm going to break the news to dd. I think she daydreams about those things!

The only place they have them is Cape May EXCEPT the CL on Saturday nights. BUT they will be sold as a 6 pack in the near future but discontinued from CL! So not fair I say....

Unfortunately CMB is closed for renovations during our trip.

We'll have to make do with the six pack.

Make sure you email WDW guests relations about the oreo bon bons.
If enough of say how much we'll miss them it might make them bring them back.

We just got back from our evening which start with HDDR!! DD was in love with the whole show though she wanted to be able to go on stage. We had perfect seats for our family (Cat 2 in the balcony) and really enjoyed ourselves. The rain tonight was a bit intense since we had to take the boat to and from the show but the MK was perfect after. We are having a blast but cannot wait for the move Sat morning!

I am looking forward to HDDR again! We have been in the balcony before and enjoyed it. Have a great vacation!

What is it with Disney conspiring against feeding your family their favorite desserts??? First the Key Lime Tart from Captain's Grille. Now the Oreo Bon Bons? I'm afraid to ask what's next???

And here's the wierdest part - my pursuit of key LIME pie - now I have LYME disease.

There's even another dessert that I tried for the first time last year and fell in love with - Bakewell Tart at Rose and Crown. They had it for years and I never tried it until last summer. You guessed it, it's off the menu now!

I'm down to the almond crusted cheesecake at Narcoossee's!

Hi All
After lurking for 2 years I'm going to jump in. My family stayed at the Beach Club in May 2010 for our first family vacation celebrating the adoption of our 2 little ones. We are going back in August for another family vacation and we're staying club level:cheer2:
We'll be there August 9-16 with the DXDP.... I know, too much food along with the club level but 2 of my 3 kids are very adventurous eaters.
Thanks for all the great info I've gotten from this thread!
Sammy aka 2bpooh

Welcome!! Congratulations on your adoption!!:cool1: We'll be there almost the same time you are and had hoped to celebrate the adoption of our foster baby by then, but it's taking longer than we thought:confused3 We love the Beach Club!!!
