OLD THREAD: 2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 2- May, June and July DON'T POST HERE!

Dee have fun, I bet you and your temp 'sons' will have a blast (even if you do have to stay somewhere other than the BC).

Teena I feel for you, I"m having a flare up on my left heel and I know mine hurts even though I can sit part of the time on my job. Hope the shot helps and you get some relief.

Just got home and even taking two prescription pain pills didn't help. I think it might be time to reconsider the surgery. The heel is fine unless I'm working. At home it rarely bothers me. And I'm good for about 3 hours at work and then it really really starts aching!!

Dee---Have a wonderful trip!! :goodvibes

Ocalla---Sounds like you guys still had a wonderful time despite the weather conditions. I love EE....it is now my favorite coaster and I would LOVE to ride it over and over!! :)

Teena---I hope you are feeling better soon! :flower3:

To everyone else who is headed to the world this week, have a wonderfully magical trip! The kiddos and I are headed to NC tomorrow morning to see my Mom for a few days....wish we were going to Disney! pixiedust:

Cindy

:beach: Go BC!

Teena - sorry to hear of your feet problems. I totally commiserate as I have developed planter fasciitis. Must be difficult to be on your feet all day. Take care

Rebecca

That would be great; Do they usually go in May?

Although I may not wait that long for my first visit!
I feel a trip this fall might be in order!

Yes, they usually shoot for one of the last dates before it ends. I can't remember the exact date we went last year, but I know it was May.

Finally back!!! Hated to leave..........it was a great vacation.

Got to meet Wannabee completely by accident!! She and her sister wound up on the same ferry as us early one morning, and she heard me mention where we were from and decided to ask if I was a Disboard member....I'm so glad she did. In all my years, I have never met another member while at Disney!!! AND she lives in the same city as I do, CRAZY.

Wannabee It was great to meet you and your sister, enjoy the rest of your vacation!!

Had some great meals, spent WAY too much time in the parks and I am exhausted now. It rained too much for us to enjoy the pool everyday like we have in the past (only used it 3 times).

Visited the monorail resorts to kill some time in the rain, only went to DTD one evening because it was MUCH more important to get to Germany at night for Caramels, Pretzels and adult beverages ;)

Any questions, please ask.

Dee We saw soooooo many middle school groups while there, thought about you alot.....................get plenty of rest before heading there!!!

We had a rainy stay a couple of visits ago and like you, we made the best of it. I remember doing AK in the rain and the best part was there was barely anyone there. We walked on all the rides. That week we had only one sunny day so we spent it at SAB.

Glad you had a great time.

Ocalla, so glad you had a great trip! Do you remember the dates on the bounceback? Did it end in 2012? We are going in August on a bounceback, still the best deal for us, and I'm wondering what those dates might be.... Can anyone guess?

Thanks!
Linda:)

Linda,

The dates did end in 2012....wish I could remember all the dates but the "old mind" just can't keep up!!!

I thought I remembered seeing a picture of it somewhere on page 1??

On the plane ride home, DD said the best part was how fun it was running around AK in the rain!! Between the rain and the single rider line EE was a constant walk on. The rain also helped convince DD to ride kali river rapids...since she was already wet she figured why not.

Teena My feet still ache from all the walking............when they started to hurt in the afternoon I wanted to cry. I don't know how you are managing to stay on your feet all day.

Maybe we should all give BC a call and tell they you need a desk job!!!

Noooo, a desk job might take her away from the lobby.

I think we need to call and get them to set up a throne for her, fitting for her position as queen of the BC!

Less than 2 days until we leave for our anniversary trip to Chicago and then head to the St. Louis area for my niece's graduation. I'm looking forward to the trip, but it's not Disney. I did hear that there is a Disney store on the Mag Mile in Chicago, so I think we'll have to stop in to get a fix.

Of course, this trip is a nice break in the countdown to WDW too, because once we get back, we'll only be counting down to the YC! I don't really want to rush it, but we're so excited for WDW not only because it is WDW, but because it's been almost 5 years and we really earned this trip.

Thank you to all who have created and update this thread. I have learned so much and appreciate all of the insight!! Keep up the great work!!!

Teena, sorry you are having this trouble!!!

Sons less than two eh? They should be giving you a medal just for thinking about going. Not fully sure of your answer. Know what my guess would be but thought I'd bump your question in case it was missed.

The buffet is good but the Mickey waffle is not to be missed.

Thanks for your response! I am nervous about taking my two very energetic boys, but we will go off of their schedule and make the best of it! We live close to Sesame Place, so they have had practice at a small park, waiting in lines, seeing shows/characters. The biggest concern at the moment for me is dining! We were looking into Cape May Cafe for bfast, but my DH thinks $60 for breakfast is ridiculous. Although, I love the idea of them having a Mickey Waffle to eat!!! Is that offered at BC Marketplace? Off to check that menu out.

Still anyone out there know if my DH and I ordered the buffet at Captain's Grill if my under 2 twins could eat off our plates or would I need to order their own?

I am not sure, but when we went to buffets, like Chef Mickey or Cape May Cafe, with a child under 3, they could eat anything and were not charged.

I think Disney is a great trip for little ones. There are so many shows, rides and characters to keep them entertained. We travelled twice to Disney with a child under 3 and both times the child behaved wonderfully and ate more at Disney than at home. Good luck! If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Once again, thanks so much for the friendly sendoffs!!! I am excited about the adventures that await us!!!

:wave2: Bye Dee :wave2: I know you'll have fun.

One question. How are you traveling? Air :dumbo: Land :car: or Sea :sail: ?

Air- our group has two flights. We are told that is because if one plane goes down they won't have to lay off the 9th grade teaching staff in our town. Nice!

Land- CAN'T wait to be on the ME bus. I think we are on ME. We do have some private buses that will take us to the parks in the morning for our Y.E.S classes.

Sea??? Maybe Friendship boat if we hop from HS to EP. Otherwise, just Jungle Cruise and Pirates for the water...

BTW- after this post, handing off the B.O.G. list to you. Thanks so much for backing me up!

Dee, Have a great time! How many boys will you be keeping track of? Or should I say how many will be keeping track of you?

Let's just hope you don't come home like this: :dance3:

All kidding aside, this should be a fun trip making lots of great memories for you!!

Teena, hope your foot doesn't give you much trouble today!

The ratios are really good. My walking group has 14 boys and 6 chaperones. I am not sure how it is all going to work, as far as staying together or splitting up.

Finally back!!! Hated to leave..........it was a great vacation.

Dee We saw soooooo many middle school groups while there, thought about you alot.....................get plenty of rest before heading there!!!

I hope the groups you encountered were behaving themselves!!! We have been told that our group is usually polite and does not cause trouble but I don't want this to be the year we jinx it!

I was looking at the YC/CL booking categories, and had a question. Does lagoon view CL guarantee a balcony? (One that you could sit on-that morning coffee with a view is so nice to us.)
Thanks for any advice, thinking seriously of changing ressie to YC. I would love to spend some time in Stormalong Bay.

As others have replied, rooms at YC have full balconies. :thumbsup2

May we add you to the Be Our Guest list for October? What are your dates?

I think the answer about buffets is usually yes, kids under 2 can eat from your plate. The only thing that may make it different at the Captain's Grille is that they offer a buffet AND a la carte, so I don't know if the rules are different (for example, if the kids can share if you order a meal, but not the buffet). I'm guessing that the kids could eat from your buffet plate, but I am not positive.

Unfortunately, no Mickey Waffles at the Marketplace. Only the Cape May Character breakfast and the Captain's Grille. I can't remember if they are on the CG kids menu, but I'm guessing yes.

Teena, I'm so sorry to hear about your foot pain. I wish you could take it easy, but I know you are working tomorrow, too.

Natebenma,
Your trip sounds amazing! Happy travels to you and your group!:goodvibes

Thank you for offering to add my travel dates. We will be at the YC Oct 4-8. :cool1:

Hooray!! Just sent my ADR list to the IPO a few minutes ago! I think that is worthy of a , wouldn't you say? ;)

DH had to work tonight, but the boys (10 and 6) sat in the living room with me while I offered them options and gave them descriptions. I was surprised at some of their choices...DS10 was crazy excited to do Chefs de France, while BOTH boys positively insisted on Chef Mickey's. I was stunned, but DS10 blurted it right out when I started talking about character meals. Even though he was only 3 the last time we went, it obviously made a lasting impression! DS6 tried to pipe up with his "memories" of the meal, but I quickly reminded him: "You were in my belly the last time you were at Chef Mickey's." His rapid-fire response: "Yes, but when I was in your belly, I remember the food being really good." How can you argue with that? :rotfl2:

I would like to thank the folks here who offered suggestions very much--we have a few new places to try thanks to the ideas given here, including Boma and Coral Reef. The boys were GEEKED about Coral Reef--as I knew they would be! Captain's Grille is also on the list, as is the Hoop De Do Revue, which was MY personal favorite from our last trip.

My last ADR is Rose & Crown for my husband and I to have a "kid-free" night while the boys are in the adventure club. I'm not positive if I'll stick with that one, but I remember he really enjoyed it the last time. We went to a fantastic British pub in Savannah, Georgia in 2002 (when I was pregnant with the first), and R&C reminded us a lot of that.

I now have my park days figured out and am geeked to start doing more research around what's changed since the last time I was there. :cloud9: Love this part of the planning process!!

Again, thank you all for the help, and thanks to Dee for the great thread. Have a great trip this week, Dee!!

PS: Now I just need a ticker...
