Man, I WISH I could get airfare for $49!!! The cheapest I can find from Vancouver is $400 return........

I've done my laundry for today, so I'll just wait (and then go out to take DS to his practice), then more work (yippee!!)

Fly or drive down to Seatac and get a ding flight from Seattle to Las Vegas.

Saturday June 27
I don't really have anything for this day.
I figured maybe just play it by ear, see what's left to do that hasn't been done. Or do some things again.
Also a good thing to do is check Tickets2Nite and see what cheap shows they might have offered. There are some afternoon shows as well.

Ok I am coming on Wednesday morning. I am not missing the strippers!!!

Geesh I actually work at work yesterday and you chics are all sorts of chatty!!

Okay, Ding fares just came out today for April, Phoenix to Vegas, $39!! I hope they come up for June as well. I'm going to book it now, for $59, and hopefully the Ding fares will come up later and I can change my flight. I'm looking at arriving in Vegas at 1:05pm on Sunday (share a shuttle, Theresa?) and leaving on Saturday night (leaving on Sunday the fare jumps to $111). Sound good?

Ok, just to prove what a complete noob I am, what is Atomic????? :confused3

This sounds great to me!! The only thing I will miss is Tony and Tina's and the Voodoo lounge, but I can do that another time :thumbsup2 BTW - I vote for Carnegie's Deli on Monday. We don't have anything like that here at all, so I've always wanted to go.

Ummm, what is Olympic Garden??
I don't know what Atomic is either. There is the Atomic Testing Museum but I don't think that's what she's referring to. LOL

Then there is the Atomic Liquor Store and Bar. I read this review on it:
This place opened in 1952 and is supposed to be the oldest licensed bar in Las Vegas. The Rat Pack used to drink here after shows. The place gets its name from when people used to watch atomic testing blasts from the roof. Some of the bar scenes in the movie "Casino" were filmed here.

It's only two blocks east of the El Cortez on Fremont and 9th. It's a "long" two blocks though. The whole Fremont East area used to be (some say still is) the skid row of Vegas full of crime, drug addicts, and prostitutes. Because of the recent renovation by the city, East Fremont is patrolled by private security up to the El Cortez.

The area has been cleaned up considerably but still I would only walk to the Atomic during the day. Because of problems from several years past, the Atomic closes at 11pm. You have to be buzzed inside. I know it sounds like a cliché, but really this is the type of place Charles Bukowski would have hung out if he lived in Las Vegas. It's a colorful and interesting clientele to say the least.

Busch beer is $1 can and mixed drinks and shots go for $3. Don't go there to have a laugh at the expense of those less fortunate than you, but go to experience another side of Vegas different from fake volcanoes, dancing fountains, and pirate shows. Hands downs, one of the most historic, real, and unique places in Vegas. I love it.

Hmmmm, if that's the place, I think I'll stick with my fake volcanoes and dancing fountains, thank you very much. :rotfl:

Oh, and I don't want you to miss Tony and Tina's or the VooDoo lounge!! No way. I'm gonna tweak it a bit if I can and see how I can change that.
And the Olympic Garden is a strip club that has women dancing downstairs and men dancing upstairs. You can Google it, just type in Olympic Garden Las Vegas.

Even $59 is really good, but hopefully it will go down. :wizard:
That'd be awesome if you two were on the same shuttle, but if not and you still need a ride let me know. I'll risk the airport for you. Just don't tell my mom, since I wouldn't do it for her!!! :lmao::lmao::lmao:

So is Theresa staying at the timeshare after all? I think that might be more fun, but I didn't want to say anything since I'm not staying there and have no say in the matter. :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

Stacie, are you going to want groceries and liquor for the hotel? Do you want to send me a list and some money and I can make a store run for y'all? :confused3

Trust me, I'd happily pick you up and take you shopping once you get here, but after I thought about it, there is not one store just off the Strip that I'd want to shop at. :scared:
If y'all know what you want, I'd rather make the run for you and shop up where I live. :snooty: :rotfl:

Just let me know.

OK so I'm going to go play with the schedule a bit. It's so hard because not everyone is coming on the same days. If you were, that would make my life so much easier. Don't you want to make my life easier? :rolleyes1 ;)

If anyone has any ideas or just hates the whole schedule just let me know. If you have any questions please ask.

It might seem at times like we are doing a lot, especially on that first day, but some of the hotels there's not much to do there. You walk through, oooh and aaah, take a pic and move on. So unless we are all super slow walkers, it will be fine. Plus I purposely planned more for the start of the week, since everyone is excited, eager and fresh. By the end of the week everyone might be ready to just chill, or do some of their favorite things over again, kwim?

Speaking of walking, there is so much walking. And I'm not even talking about walking the Strip, sometimes it seems like miles just to get from the valet parking to the restaurant or show. So keep that in mind when packing footwear.

I can only stay until Thursday morning. DH has a business trip leaving on Thursday and it's probably best if I'm there to take care of our son (although with his attitude right now, maybe not!!!) :rotfl2:

How old is he? I just plan on leaving my kids in a closet with top ramen & bottled water & granola bars. I think they will be just fine!! :lmao:

Stacie, I can't find your address. Would you please send it again??

I think it would be great to share a shuttle :thumbsup2 I know nothing about the shuttles in Las Vegas though - do we just hop on one when we get there or prebook??????

If that is the Atomic, I may skip :scared: I am still somewhat of a wuss and just stepping into my wild woman shoes, so I don't want to scare myself too badly!

So is Theresa staying at the timeshare after all? I think that might be more fun, but I didn't want to say anything since I'm not staying there and have no say in the matter. :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

Very subtle!!! (not like I can see what you're saying ;)) Did Stacie get confirmation regarding definitely for sure having a ground floor suite? I know that if not, Cheryl will be looking for a hotel. If she has to move to a hotel, it would be nice for someone to be at the hotel too. If we do get confirmation of a ground floor suite, then I guess I'll make the jump and stay at the time share :thumbsup2 It looks like not everyone will be there all the time. Does everyone know exactly what days they will be there????

Stacie, are you going to want groceries and liquor for the hotel? Do you want to send me a list and some money and I can make a store run for y'all? :confused3

Just let me know.

I think that is a GREAT idea! There are a couple of things I would like (WATER!!!), coffee, cream, breakfast stuff, etc.

It's going to be hot, right? What kind of shoes are we talking about here? I'm thinking walking sandals or flip flops??

How old is he? I just plan on leaving my kids in a closet with top ramen & bottled water & granola bars. I think they will be just fine!! :lmao:

Sounds like a plan :thumbsup2 :rotfl2: I'm still trying to figure out if he's actually in school at that time. The schedule I have says there are school exams the week before and provincial exams the week of. I don't believe grade 8 has provincial exams (I found this out just after Christmas. Apparently the grades that did not have provincials did not have to go to school........ :scared1: Who knew and why did they not tell me :confused3).

He's the kid that would invite everyone he knows over to the house if he had the opportunity where both DH and I were not here! Pool party :banana:

Wow, you leave granola bars?? You really are a good mom. :worship:

YES! It will be hot. End of June should be over 100 every day. Just how far over remains to be seen. Then again, once you hit triple digits, it doesn't really matter. :rotfl:
So water is a must! And breakfast stuff would save ya'll some money in the mornings.

Any shoes are fine, most places allow pretty casual attire, unless y'all are planning on some 5 star dining. So whatever is most comfortable is what I'd bring.

You might want to bring some nicer things for the evening. Especially for the shows. Nothing fancy, but some black pants (capris, jeans, whatever) and a nice blouse would work.
Some people really dress up and you'll see some glittery evening gowns, but I never do. It's really a mix, but a t-shirt and shorts would be too casual for evening.

He's the kid that would invite everyone he knows over to the house if he had the opportunity where both DH and I were not here! Pool party :banana:
Well then what are you worried about? :confused3 He'll have lots of company to keep an eye on him. :thumbsup2

Will you brave the airport for me, Beth? I'm gonna try to figure out the shuttles or something, I always get lost in airports. I just follow the people off the plane and go where they go, and if it leads me to my luggage then all the better! :rotfl2:

Thanks for working on the schedule! It makes me hard not to be there all week though! Maybe I should cave in and stay all week, but I better see how my finances are closer to the trip. I'm sure I can skip a weeks pay and just hang out by the pool and see the fountains. I mean really, who needs food?

Yes, definitely groceries and liquor. I'm not a health nut, but I like yogurt with granola every morning; helps keep me regular! I'll bring my homemade granola and I'll try to find a store there that has the yogurt I like; what stores are you near? And water! Lots of water!! I'll probably bring coffee too, I have some Starbucks that DD boyfriend gave me for Christmas (he works at Starbucks); they're whole bean and in the freezer because he gave me ALOT! I can grind them just before coming for almost-fresh Starbucks!! YUM!! We'll definitely need flavored cream. Are you keeping track of all of this, Beth?

Not sure about the shuttle, I did look and they don't have a Super Shuttle, looks like Grey Line. Beth??

And nothing yet on the timeshare. I will call them tomorrow if I don't get an email back by then.

Um, YES! Stay all week!!

And if you come in around 1-1:30 on Sunday, you can ride with Theresa and I.

If you fly in on Sunday around 1:30, you can share a shuttle with me and Stacie :woohoo: C'mon, you know you wanna!!!! You don't need to buy food - we'll have water and yogurt so you will stay hydrated and regular - it's all good :thumbsup2

I know Jesse will be fine - it's the pool I'm worried about :rolleyes1 That many kids there, you just KNOW someone is going to pee in the pool :scared1:

Also a good thing to do is check Tickets2Nite and see what cheap shows they might have offered for the evening. There are some afternoon shows as well.

Sunday June 28
Not sure if anyone will still be here this day or if everyone is leaving some time on Saturday.
For anyone still here, we can meet for breakfast or lunch. I'll leave it open.

I mean really, who needs food?
:confused3 Booze is really all you need.

Are you keeping track of all of this, Beth?
In a word, no. lol
I have a Smith's, Albertsons, Vons, Costco, Sam's Club, Whole Foods, Target and a Walmart all pretty close by. So if you all make a list and email or PM it to me, I can pick up some things for you.

As for airport transportation, I just called your resort and they suggested if there are some of you coming in at the same time, to share a taxi.
Taxi's charge the same whether it's one person or four in the car, so splitting it would be a good idea.

He said a taxi will run between $15-$20 from the airport to the resort, and take about 10-15 minutes.
A shuttle will run $7 per person, but it's not direct and depending on where else it stops along the Strip, can take up to an hour or two. (this is what he said)

There is one he recommended if you do use a shuttle, http://www.bell-trans.com/
Hope that helps some!!

Oh, and Stacie did you see this on the hotel website: Call (877) 642-5060 for special requests, such as handicap accessible suites
Maybe you can call regarding a first floor unit. But make sure they can guarantee it. Some places will put in a request but that's it.

And if you come in around 1-1:30 on Sunday, you can ride with Theresa and I.
See, Wendy, that right there is worth coming in early and staying all week!!

I know Jesse will be fine - it's the pool I'm worried about :rolleyes1 That many kids there, you just KNOW someone is going to pee in the pool :scared1:
Oh right. The pool. Well, you have a point there.

I forgot to say I probably won't see you all on Saturday, the 27th. That's my 16th wedding anniversary :lovestruc and I'll need to be home with my hubby that day. ;)
But if anyone is still around on Sunday, I'll meet up with you then. If not, I'll be saying good bye after Friday night.

OK, off to do some errands.

Sounds like a plan :thumbsup2 :rotfl2: I'm still trying to figure out if he's actually in school at that time. The schedule I have says there are school exams the week before and provincial exams the week of. I don't believe grade 8 has provincial exams (I found this out just after Christmas.
