I would love to see Disney via the Skyview now! I wonder why they stopped that. What a great way to get from one end of the park to the other.

This was the view from up there...

I so wish I had some photos from our family trip back in 83 or 84. We went during Donalds birthday which I have read was in 84 but my dad insists we went in 83. I am not really sure but no photos either way.

We have photos of Donald's Birthday Parade that featured the song "Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday, Happy, Happy, Birthday to you!", and it was in 1984.

I will post them in a second.

Does anybody remember this restaurant in tomorroland?
The stage with the band playing partridge-family-like music came from the middle of nowhere... hehe ...actually the stage rose from underneath and looked so futuristic ...thats when I knew I was in Disneyworld...

Okie some pics from the 1984 Donald's 50th? Birthday Parade...

The birthday duck himself.

Mickey and Minnie.

A few rare characters including Scrooge, Granny Duck (second level with Daisy), and one of Donald's cousins (can't 'member his name).

I loved going to that restaurant in Tomorrowland to hear the groovy music. :cool1:
Tuppence.....love the Donald Duck parade photos.
Me in Mickey's Music Revue lobby I think circa 1979 (I've always had a thing for Mickey so I wanted my picture taken with the mural).

I would LOVE to see pictures. I am so glad you have them from that time period. I guess that confirms it. We were definately there for Donalds birthday and we STILL sing that birthday song for our birthdays.

Could that be what is now Cosmic Ray's? It kinda looks like the stage area where Ray sits in that place.

Yes, that is definately it. Thanks so much for posting. I still have the Donald t-shirt in plastic with that face on it.

Why is the Sigma Phi Epsilon guy wearing a hard hat? Is he one of the Village People?

1976. . . My Dsis (on the right with a very groovy hat) and me (on the left with the wannabe Dorothy Hamill haircut) with Pinocchio (a very demonic-looking Pinocchio!). :)

This picture really points out the "where are the strollers?" issue. Lots of kids - no strollers. I guess back then people were more likely to only use strollers for kids too young to walk.
Well, I'm in my (*gasp*) :p late 30's and growing up, I didn't know ANY parents who wanted to shell out money for something they didn't need....If a kid could walk, well, then, that kid's gonna walk!!! And Definitely - NO CRYING!!
Can I get a witness?!?!?!?! :rotfl:

Can you start a thread with this picture???
You know, where we can post our own captions as to what we think is going on or being said?

Yes, that is what is now Cosmic Ray's. We always used to go to this restaurant first thing when I was a kid. When that stage rose up from below ground with the band playing as it rose, I knew I was at Disney! Took my wife and son to Cosmic Ray's back in February, and while the restaurant etc. took me back to when I was a kid, the lack of that "magic" stage was a bit of a letdown.

According to this page:

Cosmic Ray's Fun Facts

the restaurant used to be called Tomorrowland Terrace and the stage still exists. Apparently, it is still used for guest music acts sometimes. Also nice little tidbit about the characters using Cosmic Ray's to stay dry before parades on rainy afternoons. Don't know how accurate this data is as most of the postings are a few years old.
