I'm loving these old pictures. :thumbsup2

Did ya notice that in the 70s and 80s people looked a bit "dressed up" for touring the parks? I spotted some dresses in some the really old pictures.

This one from Timon/Cass of Baloo kills me.It looks like the costume is 3 pieces, pants ,shirt and head! :rotfl2:

If a kid could walk, well, then, that kid's gonna walk!!! And Definitely - NO CRYING!!
Can I get a witness?!?!?!?! :rotfl:

I'm sorry - there's no crying in BASEBALL. Crying over a stroller is perfectly permissible.

Well, now after spending 30 minutes this morning looking through the wonderful pictures on this thread, I am going to have to dig up my old family photos too. I'll have to wait til I go to my mom's. First trip to WDW for me was 1975.

Thanks everyone, for the walk down memory lane. :cloud9:

I wonder if there are fewer strollers in the picture because it used to be harder to get a stroller? I seem to remember my Dad waiting in quite a long line that didn't move very quickly to get us strollers. Or maybe it just seemed like a long time to a little kid who wanted to get inside the park already! :) In any case, they have it down to a science now.

Parts of it are actually still there. If you go out to Fort Wilderness and go to Mickey's Backyard BBQ, it is right next door. You can still see water slides and such. In fact the bathroom closest to the BBQ site is in the old locker rooms. From what I have read on Disboards, Disney closed it down because all that sunscreen and who knows what else from the swimmers was polluting Bay Lake. This is the same reason why you can't swim at the beach at the Poly and GF anymore.

Wanted to share a picture of me and my siblings with the mouse himself in May of 1980.

I can't though since I haven't posted a lot.

:surfweb:

I remember River Country. We went in October of 1983 and I fell asleep in a hammock and got a bad sunburn.

I guess I better post more frequently.

I thought you couldn't swim in Bay Lake due to high bacteria levels. I thought they closed River Country because it was not cost effective to keep it open.

I did go to Mickey's Backyard BBQ and it was fun to see River Country. It was a neat place, we hadn't visited since they opened Typhoon Lagoon.

This thread has made me smile, as well as cry with laughter!!

Our first trip was only in 96, when I was 15 and the castle was halfway to becoming a cake - none of the photos are scanned yet and our scanner broke - will have to see if I can get my parents scanner and do some.

Thanks for posting, everyone :thumbsup2 :rotfl:

these are so much fun it brings back all the memories I have of Disney with my parents :) thanks for the memories Disers!!!

This was taken during the "Electric Light Parade" in 1981 - I can still hum the theme song! Imagine my surprise when after developing the film, there was a person inside! :rotfl2: She looks thrilled to be "Doc"! :rotfl: :rotfl:

I am loving these photos. Keep them comming. I will try to get out to my mom's this weekend to see if she has any I can scan.

Okay, I scanned the slides Mom & Dad had bought in MK in the 70's. I imagine they are from our first trip in 1975 but not sure.

I have 21 of them so I think I need to post in multiple posts.

Once again, this is what they look like.

Unfortunately, they are big (tall) slides and when I scanned them, the tops and bottoms were cut off :(
