I will be at OKW in early Dec. and I want to request ground floor in a building in the far back (I think #'s 45 and up) Do I call MS to input the request, DW reservations, or wait until 2 weeks before check in and call the front desk of OKW?:confused3 :confused3

C all and ask ms to add the request to your reservation now. I would word it first floor South Point area since there are buildings near the front of the resort with numbers in the 60's.

All requests are supposed to be made through MS, and the earlier the better. I usually make them when I make the reservation. We are specificaly told NOT to call or fax the resort.

you made the request through the place that you make the reservations.

if ms (dvc points) then you call back MS.

if through CRO (cash) then you call back CRO.

if through a travel agent then you call them back.

just depends upon who you make the original reservations with

Call MS now and have them note it on your reservation. I'm sure you know there will be no gaurantee your request will be granted, but we've been very lucky through the years with all of our requests. Good Luck!!!

If you need first floor for medical reasons, make sure to tell them that when you make your request. Specifically say that, don't just say "I have a wheelchair", that might seem clear to you that you need first floor, but is not always clear to the person on the other end of the phone.

Medical requests are filled first before the same request for non-medical reasons. So, even though it is just a request, a medical request would be very unusual to not be filled.

It's an exchange thru II and they don't take requests so do I still call DVC Ms office? No medical reason just my kids may try to jump off the balcony if I'm on a higher floor.

Since exchanges don't take requests, I'd do one of two things. I'd wait until check in and request it at that time, or I'd be sure the sliding door is locked unless you are are out there with the kids.

Sure they do. They can't change the specific room type or view that the unit was drawn from, but they do take requests within that class. You may have to pay the resort services fee first.

For example, if your unit was taken from the Hospitality House booking category, then you cannot request building 45. But, otherwise, you can. In any event you could request first floor.

Only members can call MS - so no, you can't. If your timeshare reservation place can't take the request, you'll have to wait until you arrive. I hope you're not serious about the kids - I can't imagine having kids who'd do such a thing! But, if you do - then obviously you can't let them out there unsupervised.

So you kids are inclined to go out the door on their own? If they are on the first floor, where do you think you are going to find them? They will be gone in a flash. Hope you're not by a pool.

I'd just makes sure the doors are locked and it's been expressed to the kids to not go outside unless mom or dad is with them.

No, they won't really jump off the balcony but they do like to spend time out there. The little guy once stood on a table for a better view. I am just very nervous about kids and balcony's in general. I will feel more relaxed if I'm on the ground.

This is not true. An Interval inbound, who is not also a member, may call Member Services with requests, to schedule Magical Express, to add the Dining Plan, etc. An inbound is entitled to call Member Services by virtue of paying the $95 Resort Services fee.

I know this because I do it personally. You can even make ADRs through Member Services, but it's much faster to call DRC directly at WDW-DINE. Here is the relevant wording from an exchange certificate:

A pre-paid, non-refundable USD 95 resort services fee, per unit is required. This fee covers the use of DVC Member Services for making advance dining reservations, golf tee times and other vacation planning. For PAYMENT and inquires about other Disney programs, such as Disney’s Dining Plan and the Magical Express airport transportation service, which must be reserved prior to arrival, call 800-******** or 407-566-3800 and select option 1 for Member Services.

(Note, the 800 number is on the II confirmation, but apparently is a Bad Word here on the DIS.)

Edited to add: I'm told that, as of 2008 sometime, the resort services fee no longer must be prepaid. Rather, it is now added to your bill at check-in.

I get the impression that there are far more requests to be "closer in" and highest floor possible (the views at OKW are lovely from the higher floors, and are often a lot of vegetation on the lower floors). It seems like your chances of getting what you want would be pretty good even upon arrival. I've stayed at OKW 3 times now, never requested a floor and have always gotten ground floor, which, with a stroller, I really appreciated. Good luck! :)

I agree. We often get ground floor too, and I would prefer higher for the views.
