Just finished OKW annual meeting. Pool slide on main pool coming this year. At $10 for 15 minutes, will post more info later. Found this interesting.

This IS interesting! Looking forward to hearing more.

At first I thought that the people who wanted to use the slide would have to pay $10 for 15 minutes of slide use as a way to pay for the slide and keep our dues down! Then I figured out what you meant.

Excellent news!!!!!

It's wonderful that resorts are getting extra perks like this! We've seen so many posts describing how pool amenities are important, glad OKW is getting one. Hear, Hear!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm feeling very dense this morning. What do you mean $10 for 15 min?
Thanks

of broadband access or the priceof a taxi or the cost of a rollercoaster meltdown + tip:laughing:

WOW! I never thought they'd do it. Sorry senior members, but I'm psyched!

Thanks for reporting Dorothy!

Okay... I'll ask the question...

How will this be paid for? From which part of the budget?

And, will we see lifeguards added, also, as a result?

Sorry senior members?? Surely not an implication that the old people don't want a slide but the young, hip ones do?

I think a slide will be great for all age groups. Just glad to hear it's on it's way, great decision and addition to older OKW. I'm glad to hear any resort getting additional amenities.

Probably a good idea, regardless. Safety is important for all guests.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh I get it! She's on a ISP connection that charges $10 for 15 mins of Internet usage. I too thought they were gonna charge for the slide! LOL

For those that are interested, DQ has a free internet cafe that is included with admission price in 10 min. increments. You just refresh your time to keep surfing. (If no one is waiting) I spent enough time on their computer to pay for all four of us!

As far as the senior member comment, I believe the poster was referring to length of membership not age as a survey reportedly went out years ago and the members overwhelmingly were against a slide.

Our pool hopping days may be numbered if they are adding a slide at OKW to stem the tide of complaints when they do away with it. Just my thoughts as I like having the PH option, even if we won't use it much.

I like the idea of a pool slide, but I was under the impression (mistakenly apparently) that DVC would have to get the approval of OKW owners to add a slide. I guess I'll stay tuned.:D

I think a slide is a great idea! Any word of when construction will start? Most likely it will be right smack in the middle of our vacation so the pool won't be open!

All pools with slides must have Lifeguards its the law. With the new slide we can say goodbye to pool hopping.

This is fantastic and it only adds more value to our points. It also clearly makes OKW the best DVC Resort...:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: ...just kidding...they are all awesome...

I think it depends upon which slide they are putting up - if one like the POFQ - a baby slide - the teens won't be happy - but if one like CSR - then the babies won't be.....

but you are right I though we had to vote on this - since it was not in the orginially landscaping.....

I don't know about that being a law - there are other timeshares that have a slide but no lifeguards - there have been accidents. there are several places noted on tug.

timeshares aren't under the same laws as hotels.

even if we have to vote on this - I hope it passes - but it probably won't - hey don't blame the older members - on the last vote it was the 30's year old who didn't want it.....

I think it is time to vote again -

I haven't dug out my POS for OKW but I was looking at the Vero one the other day -- In that POS it says that DVC may add recreational facilities without approval. I imagine it's the same at OKW.

Now, you've gone and teased us Simba's Mom!!! Can't wait to hear more detail. I would hope they'll make the slide a part of the pool and not just "stick it on". That's been my concern -- that it fits with the resort. This may work out nicely, too. The kids will want to be at the main pool so maybe Turtle Pond will be more conducive to sipping pina coladas and working on the tan. ;) Everybody will be happy. :)

I think the slide at OKW was inevitable since Disney can now advertise that all resorts have slides. Once they added them to the GF and the Poly I suspected OKW would eventually follow.

I too think that if they have the feature pool at SSR, OKW would almost have to add a slide so they could do away with pool hopping all together within DVC.
