We have made reseravation at OKW for a one bedroom and have some questions: Sorry about the amount of questions, just trying to determine if having my brother in law and his family join us would work.

1) How many people can stay in a one bedroom room? If we had four adults and 3 children (ages 9,6 & 2) would there be enough room to sleep everyone? We understand that there is only a King bed and a queen pull out, but with sleeping bags and love seat, would we manage?

2) Would Disney question us for having this many people, as the room is designed for only 4 people? Has anyone had more than 4 people stay in a one bedroom during there stay and how did it work? Do we need to inform Disney?

3) I know the charge for extra towels is $6, is that per day charge or for your whole stay? When they do the housekeeping, will they replace these towels?

4) How many cars can you have on OKW?

5) Is the bathroom entrance from the Bedroom or living room? I know it says somewhere that blds 30 and under only have one access. Where is this access to the bathroom from?

6) How far is turtle pond to the hospitality center? Is it a long walk? Is turtle pond a good place to stay?

7) How many chairs does a one bedroom balcony have? Can you use these chairs at the kitchen table?

8) Approx how big is the bedroom? Approx how big is the living room? Could you put a blow up mattress in the bedroom?

9) Do they give you pillows for the pull out couch?

10) Is there clothes drawer or closet space in the living room?

11) Where is the hot tub?

Thanks for your help.

Not all of them, but I was looking for more of people's personal experiences.

Thanks

Please help if you can

Well, just in case you don't have a member notebook.

1. Don't even ask about how many people you can have WWIII will break out! However, if you tried to pull this stunt off you are going to be VERY crowded.

2,See above. Disney could very well question you. They would not all have resort Id's

3. Charge is per towel replacement (By the way there are towels for 4 people does that tell you how many Disney wants in there?)

4,5,6 Clueless

7. Two. They are probably too big to put around the table. The table is a small round for four people.

I don't have a clue about the rest of these.

I would just hope that you would get caught, emabrrassed and turned away.

CarolA, I am very concerned about your comment in item 1. This is my first time making reserv at OKW, just purchased. So would this not work? I know that when we stayed at the Cabins at the Wilderness Campgroud it was okay. A little tight, but I believe the one bedrooms are bigger at OKW. Do they allow four adults to stay in one bedrooms? Can you give me a little advice.

Thanks

Why such a comment, I am just asking a question trying to get information? your reply was a little strong.

The limit in a one-bedroom is 4 people (child or adult) and a child under 3 who is expected to stay in the portacrib. The group you are proposing to put into the unit is far and beyond any "stretching" of the rules. Some people have had a mother/father and 3 children....that is really the outside limit for a 1-bedroom.

The rest of your questions seem to be fishing to see whether you could cram this many people into the unit. The answer is no. For starters, you've got one bathroom for 7 people. The entrance in buildings below 30 is through the jog entrance of the master bedroom. People would have to partially enter into the bedroom.

If you would like to see the layout of the furniture, etc. you can see it in the floor plans included with your ownership information or on the DVC website.

Information on linens and housekeeping is on pages 73-74 of the member guidebook. If you haven't got a copy of the book, you can find it on-line in the member section of the DVC site.

Just my opinion, but although we all know the heated debates this topic creates, obviously Mickey is new to this and does not know. I don't think this poster deserves the responses he has gotten.

Mickey, I can tell you that I recently stayed in a 2-bedroom at OKW. We had 3 adults and 2 teens, and then Grandma spent 2 nights of that week with us also. I can tell you I would not personally want anymore than that in a 2-bedroom. In a one-bedroom you would be way overcrowded. You probably want to consider a 2-bedroom or a 1-bedroom and an additional studio.

What you probably need to also be aware of is the tremendous amount of strong debate that goes on here when trying to put more than the recommended number of people in the DVC accommodations. You unknowingly put your foot into a hornets nest. Sorry you met with such responses to your questions, but the minute I read them, I knew you were in for some strong words.

All that said, welcome to being a new DVC owner. Congratulations on your new membership. You will have many happy years of vacations.

Man, and this thread isn't locked yet????? Mickey, read some of the threads on this issue. If you bought without reading the rules, that is where you should start. Before we get into dormatories and bunk beds and other usual responses. Get out while you are still alive!

;)

Sorry, but I am a DVC member, I hope that when people abuse the rules and the units that they get caught and embarrassed....I would expect that most DVC members would share that hope.

I agree with GMC13 that responses are a little strong. You sem to be requesting information.
I think though for comfort's sake you should look into booking a 2 bedroom. if you can. You would then have the benefit of 2 more beds and an additional balcony. If you put the kids to bed at night, you can use the other balcony and not worry about waking them up.
I never understood why they made the studios and the 1-bedrooms for the same amount of people, which is 4. Then your next step up is to a 2- bedroom with 8 people. This does hurt the people that have 3 or 4 children. They could have had a pull down Murphy bed (like they have in the FW cabins) in the space where they have that cabinet in the dining area at OKW. they could even have planned for units that could comfortably fit 6 people and charged more points for that unit (but not as much as a 2 bedroom.) This system doesn't give people much choice. Even regular hotels just charge you more for extra people in a room. Oh well, just my 2 cents.

RLevy29: BITE YOUR TONGUE.

How about a few hammocks hanging from the ceiling? And a couple of bunk beds? Let's tear out the shower and add another bed there, too.

Heck, let's toss out the bathtub and laundry room and add another couple of Murphy beds and hammocks there as well.

When I sent my original message, I had never thought I would have received the responses I have received. I am new to the vacation club, so I was trying to find out answers! Never did I think I would be accused of trying to break the rules. Your emails state refer to the Membership Handbook, well although it states in the membership handbook sleeps 4, it says nothing about if you want to sleep more or if you can or cannot. Also, did you ever ask yourself why I might be asking this question? Well I will tell you why.

First, for those of you who accused me of cheating the system or abusing the rules, you’re total wrong. All I wanted was answers! I have my vacation already booked (booked well in advance) for my two year old daughter, my wife and I for 13 nights, that's right 13 nights. Sure to be a great vacation, our first one to OKW. My brother-in-law and his family (family of 4) who just informed me they were considering coming to Disney at the same time we were going, asked if they could stay with us. NOTE: They were only considering 4 nights, 5 days (not the full time we were going to be there). We have gone on vacation with them before and stayed at the cabins and it worked out great. One bathroom was fine. So for me to get two bedrooms would be a waste of points, seeing they were thinking about coming in the middle of our vacation. My question was would this work and would Disney have a problem with it? I know someone who owns a vacation club and I asked them, and they said Disney doesn’t frown on it or concern them self with it as long as there are not more than 4 adults. If they were going to be coming for the same amount of time we were going to be there, then I would get two bedrooms. But I am talking about 4 nights out of the 13 we are going to be there. I hope some of you can see my point. Do I want to abuse the rules, NO!!!!! But, I am trying to find out what would work best, YES!!. Do I want to change from a one bedroom to a two bedroom back to a one bedroom, NO! So, explain to me why am I wrong to think this way. Also, I can’t imagine that no one has had this problem in the past, or done what I have done.

I would appreciate if you have nothing nice to say, don’t respond to this thread. If you are going to accuse me or insult me, I don’t want a response from you. I am looking for answer and trying to be nice about it. I am not a type of person that will personally attack anyone, but I will valid anyone’s opinion, as long it is respectful. NOTE: I am new to this and all I wanted was help, not a personal attack!!!

Once again, I think that the reply is a little harsh. What is wrong about thinking that DVC should have accomodations for 6 people? I was just tossing out suggestions for a comfortable arrangement and not the bizarre scenario expressed by the last poster.

Maybe you should consider a studio for the rest of your family for their short stay if you have the points.

I have stayed at at FW Cabin. I think you could probably sleep more people there comforatably. The OKW 1 BR units are set up more as homes then Fort Wilderness (Murphy Bed is one point!) The Bedrooms in FW are designed to sleep 4 and then you can put a few more (2) on the Murphy bed and you could probably stick a port a crib someplace. An OKW 1 BR does not have those bunk beds so I think you would feel more crowded (you would be stepping all over the the people all over the floor. ) The OKW Kitchen table is also different from the older FW cabins (have not seen the new one) and while it does not seat any more people it does take up more room.

Personally I have a feeling that two adults would have a hard time getting comforatable on the sofa in the living room, but I know a lot of people do it so that just may be my feeling. I know that when I have slept on sofabeds I usually wind up sleeping sideways across the bed to get comfortable.

As for your issue about have there been problems in the past, I believe there have been. However, the details are probably lost to the ravages of time and have now been made into Urban Myths! I know that there have been issues at the hotels, because I had to deal with one caused by a group of Girl Scouts I deal with. (We tossed the leader out of the organization after the call from Disney - WAY TOO EMBARRASSING!)
