For those who know and love this resort - help me out a little please :

1. We have a 1 Bedroom, and love walking on our vacation. We are freezing up here in NY, so we don't mind taking a beautiful stroll. So - what building area should we request. We do plan to sit out on the balcony, which ones have the nicest views.

2. Can you walk to DTD? We plan on eating over there a few nights

3. Can you walk to SSR? Our home resort, and we have not been to the Turf Club since it has been remodeled - want to have dinner there

4. How do you like Olivia's?

5. Jogging trails?

Thanks - add any tips you think might be useful. We are renting a car too - so no big deal getting around WDW.

Thanks -
E

There is a jogging/walking path to SSR and DTD. There is a thread here somewhere that has great pictures of it. You walk all the way to the end of
the resort and pick up the trail that takes you along the canal to SSR and then
on to DTD. It's a great walk. I haven't been to the Turf Club yet, but I've heard good things. You might be able to find some opinions on the Dining Board.
I think Olivia's was great when we had breakfast there. But I've only had breakfast. I can't comment on lunch/dinner. All in all, this is a wonderful resort
to stroll and just feel like you're in the beautiful Florida Keys. Have the time of
your life! :goodvibes

If you plan to take advantage of the walking path to DTD (it's behind building 55), I would request South Point area. I think the best views on that end of the resort are from buildings 46, 55, 45, 56, 47. You can easily walk to HH in 5-8 minutes, and there are often folks jogging the sidewalks early in the morning.

The path to DTD is not lighted, so you will not want to do that after dark, but if you walk over in the daylight, you can always take the boat back from there up until midnight. The walk to DTD takes about 10 minutes from building 55. It follows the canal that the boat takes. When you get close to DTD, there is a "fork" in the path. Going to the left over a bridge gets you to SSR and staying straight ahead puts you in the CDS parking lot. Also, the boat from OKW to DTD stops at SSR before it gets to DTD.

I am writing all this down Diane! I sure hope I get OKW at the 7 mos. mark for next May!! :)

5. Jogging trails?

1. Tough call as this is a personal preference. We have stayed in bldgs 12, 20, 24, 26 & 33 and all have had either golf course and/or pond views which were all nice.
2. Yes, there is a path to DTD. Between buildings 54 & 55. When the path forks, stay to the left. I think it is about 1.5 miles (from the paths begining) but could be mistaken.
3. There is a path but I am uncertain of its location - have never done.
4. Olivia's is a good family restaurant for breakfast lunch or dinner. We go at least once per trip when staying OKW. The menu is reflective of a family atmosphere and budget.
5. Yes - See the website posted below for a full runners review of paths and trails. Sorry, not my area of knowledge. Now if you needed the shortest path from Villa to the Gurgling Suitcase, then I could help you...

As for more tips - There are many, too many. Feel free to send me a list of questions or areas/subjects of information you may be looking for via PM or do some searches on OKW from previous discussion threads.

Thanks for posting this....we too will be first timers there in July. SO ....when did Turf Club get remodeled?

Thanks for posting this question, we are wondering the same thing. Search isn't working for me, so does anyone know the order of the bus stops at OKW?

We are also going to be first-timers at OKW the end of March. I am concerned that by the time we figure out the best transportation routes, the trip will be half over! Does anyone know if there is a way to obtain maps or schedules ahead of time? Or is the best way to search these threads? Any advice is appreciated :goodvibes

Bus stops: Peninsula Rd, South Point, Turtle Pond, Miller Rd, and then HH. This way you can use any bus as an internal bus, since the last stop is HH. Last week we did have one driver leave OKW without stopping at HH, but only one.

Thank you for the help - I will take this with us :)

this map shows where all the bus stops are.

May I jump in and ask, where is the boat dock to DD? Is it near the walking path to DD?

Thanks for the help!

The dock at OKW is behind the HH.
At OKW just about everything is centrally located around the HH area.
