Hi, MDP! Great to see you've surfaced! Congrats on the relationship with Chris and the ring. Sorry about the tough semester at school. But it won't last too much longer, right?

How's the painting, TB?

Legs...Glad you had a good time with family. Hurricane Alex? We had rain all day yesterday. It finally started clearing up late in the afternoon. Today is back to usual gorgeous summer weather. Yea!

I finally had the window company replace the window the golf ball came through. They were here yesterday. The guy installing it managed to crack a corner of it. So he said I won't be charged the balance yet, and they will replace it. At least it's all sealed and I don't have a hole in it! Nice to have the plastic covering gone. He showed me in the frame where nails were driven through. He asked if I boarded up the windows during Hurricane Isabel last year. No, not me! Must have been previous owners. He said that some of the nail heads had broken off and he can't remove them. Had to slide the glass in as opposed to laying it flat. Just my luck.

Ugh! I have three resumes out there. One at the Army base...tough competition there, one at a gov't. subcontractor, and a third with the City! Crossing all fingers, eyes, and toes.

Stopped at the local community college this morning to pick up a catalog and general info. Will have that to provide me with entertaining reading. Ha ha! I wonder what out of state tuition is. However, I will be waiting to register for any classes until I'm an official resident.

The painting is going ok. I finished the shutters today. That is the most tedious of the tedious. I still have a little outside to touch up, I have to repaint a wall in the family room, and I have to paint my study. I feel like I am on track to be done by Sunday. DBF is on call so I'll just be there Friday night.

PW, talk about previous owners. My master bedroom has a small study off of it. The last people who lived here obviously had shelves up all over the entire small room. They took the shelves, but left the shelving rods. When I first moved in, I looked everywhere to find shelves that would fit with no luck. So, I have taken down the rods and filled in the holes. We are talking a lot of holes.

Oh, I got a gift last night that REALLY surprised me! DBF is from India. His sister-in-law, whom I have not met, recently went back for a visit. She bought me a beautiful shawl (not sure what its right name is) and some silver jewelry, including 13(!) gorgeous bangle bracelets! I'm not sure if I will ever wear them all at once , but I absolutely love the bracelets!! The largest one even has hidden mickeys on it!

You reminded me of the bracket outside on a post for a flag. Hmmm...they took their flag but not the bracket? I'm thinking one of the wooden "poles" with the decorative flag. It's white, and not your standard flag bracket. Hmmm...are those poles a standard size? I'd hate to go buy one and have it not fit. I had my US flag there with the little aluminum pole...it's much smaller than the bracket.

The last couple days there's guys around here cutting down trees. I LOVE the trees here! They're part of the reason I bought here! I would hate for it to look like my neighborhood in FL once they attacked the trees. When they come near my trees, I'll be out there! Guess I better track the pres. of our neighborhood and ask him about it. Just think...a golfer managed to get a golf ball in a second story window WITH all the trees. I can't imagine cutting them down! I can see trimming them, but not cutting them down.

Sounds gorgeous, TigerBear! We want pictures! Can you wear them, get DBF to take a pic, and post it for us? Was there a special occasion for you?

I took it to CompUSA since I bought it there. I'm still under an extended warranty into May, 2005. So I didn't have a charge to pay at all when I picked it up. Thanks for the GL!! And good luck to you on your job you applied for! Yes!!!!!...TOO much paperwork for gov't. jobs!!!

I think that is why I was so surprised! We haven't even decided yet whether we are going to have a future together. I called her to thank her for the gifts -she was so nice!! So at least the s-i-l is obviously ok with him dating an American woman!

Good luck with the VA job Legs!! I think "paperwork" and "goverment agency" are synonyms!! I bet the benefits are good though.

Hi everyone,
Finally have some time to check in....it's been a looonnnggg week!

It seems everyone has a lot going on!

My parents officially are buying a patio home that I will rent from them and eventually buy from them sometime in the future. It is really cute...it's not huge 1275sq ft. plus a basement...2 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and a little backyard. I am excited but the thought of moving is not so exciting! I just moved a year ago in Sept. to this apartment. So TB~I'll be painting soon too.

As for the job situtation. I accecpted a job yesterday as an Office Manager for an Oil and Mineral company it pays less than what I was making which is hard but I had not heard from the job that I really wanted, Synxis is the name of the company and I didn't want to miss out on at least a semi-decent job. So guess what? Today, I get a call from Synxis....and he wants to meet me today at 4:30 to talk about somethings...somethings?! I have no idea if he is going to offer me the job or what. I guess I'll see what he has to say...then decide what I should do. This job pays a lot more than the job I just accepted. Geez...why couldn't he have called two days ago? I am supposed to start the Office Manager job on Monday! Life is such a challenge sometimes!

PW~Glad to hear you got your window fixed. I hope they don't cut down all of the trees! Any news at all about a job? Keeping my fingers crossed for your job situation.

TB~Isn't it nice to receive unexpected gifts? Fun! I was given something similar from the my long distance guy in NYC. He went to China and brought me back 12 porcelain (sp?) bracelets....I think of him when I wear them....Your's sound beautiful!

Congrats on the new job...and the additional hopeful job offereing! That would be great if you actually have a choice between two!

I agree...moving is the PITTS! I just moved in March. But I do LOVE my new place just as much as I loved my home in FL. I'm getting used to the smaller size and becoming more comfortable with it. It's nice to see the lower utility bills!

The job front here isn't going anywhere. Haven't heard from any of the jobs I sent resumes to. I know it can take more time though. For the "fun" of it, I went through today's paper. Just 2 positions for Admin Asst and 3 for secretaries. In NJ you could find at least 1/2 page for secretaries! And the jobs in the papers don't look too interesting. And the salaries stink!! I may end up breaking down and applying at hospitals since I worked at one for 8 years. But I REALLY don't want to work for one! A military hospital would be much better any way, but I have to figure out where to get an in there.

I've been running a scan on this computer since it has 2 trojan viruses I can't seem to get rid of. This scan just finished...266,217 files scanned! Three files infected, one disinfected. Hmmm...better go see what's up.

Yikes, Vicki! I can't imagine being with someone named Marvin!!!

You really wonder what the parents were thinking when they named the guy! He's 4 years younger than me, 6' 4" , and a nuclear electrician. I hope he doesn't glow. LOLOLOL! Oops! I'm sorry.

Recently, I have been feeling so great and sleeping well. Tonight I went over to a friend's house who was having a birthday get together for XSIL and after being there I don't feel good about me or where I am in life. I didn't really want to go there to begin with and now I wish I hadn't.
