Okay...I've Called the Late Night DISers, Now I'm Calling the Single DISers (Part 2)

Suzanne...I hope DD is better soon. Strep! The poor girl! :( I hope she's having fun today. :) Thanks for the interesting articles!!

Think I'll end up ordering DS's backpack online from LL Bean or Lands End. I've always gotten his backpacks from one of those, and they last forever. They get disgustingly dirty before they wear out.

No luck with the computer. Talked with a tech on the phone yesterday. Had me try various things without any luck. Said that Windows would have to be installed again, and I'd lose EVERYTHING on my computer! NO WAY!! I have all my college papers on here!! The ones I can use as a starting point on future papers...whenever I get the heck back to school. The guy told me to take it to CompUSA with my Windows disk. **sniff, sniff** E-mailed DHT who said try a computer geek!! First I'll call CompUSA back and see if they'll send a geek here. I'm still under the extended warranty until 5/05! Wooooo hooooo! I had gotten the Windows disk out and had written myself a note on it. Hmmmmmmmmmm...started to remember a similar problem in the past. When I was in FL, there was a thunderstorm. After that I couldn't get my computer up and running. Called CompUSA then. The note on the envelope of the disk says...unable to boot into Windows XP. Aha! So it happened before!! Wouldn't boot up from the disk either! Hmmmmmmmmmmm. Last time they sent someone out and gave me a new modem. I wonder if it could be the same problem. So I think I'll call them back this afternoon, see if they can send a geek here... :) ...and tell them about the modem last time. Cross your fingers please!! Then if they don't send someone, I guess I'll call computer geeks. (Nice term!! :) ) I'll take it in to the store as a last resort. I've heard too many stories of people taking them in for one thing, then there's a different problem when they get it back.

Good luck with the computer PW! Did you have a surge protector on it when it happened the first time?
I got DD's backpack at Target. She get's so excited picking out a new backpack (Hello Kitty, of course) at the start of the school year. It lasts all year and by the end of the year it is grungy looking and really needs to be tossed. It hasn't fallen apart, just dirty. Wouldn't want to use it for another year, LOL!

FLM- Sorry to hear dd has to have surgery but maybe she won't get sick anymore. She seems to get sick a lot.
Thanks for the articles. Lots of good info.

TB- Did you get a Hello Kitty backpack too?:teeth:

I slept better last night. Hope I do tonight also. Tomorrow I'm not going to work. It is dd's birthday and we are going to Butterfly World.

Was planning for a date with HG last night. He was going to be in the area for business. He wanted me to pick him up since he didn't know the area and he could let his business associate use his car for the evening. But then I told him how far away it was. HG said he didn't mind driving the 50 miles each way himself but he didn't want to leave the other guy stuck at the hotel without a car especially since they just got there. So we decided that 50 miles each way was too far. I told him we should get together when he is closer. His company does have an office in my town. Besides, I was exhausted last night and didn't feel like going anywhere! I wasn't disappointed at all!

Sorry, I haven't been on this thread in a while. I guess I have stopped really dating because I have too much going on with my life as it is.

But the good news is that I'll be in PA in about 2 weeks. I'm going to ride my 200th roller coaster at Hersheypark on Sunday, August 8. I don't know how far away any of you are from Hershey, PA, but it would be fun if you can make it.

Have fun at Butterfly World! I love that place. Such gorgeous butterflies I've never seen before.

Yes, I've always had surge protectors. And the one I have here is new! I'm not a happy camper.

Hello Kitty! :teeth: That's too cute. Glad the backpack will last all year.

Hi, Barry! :wave2: Have fun on your 800th roller coaster ride! :teeth:

ROFLMAO!!  Sorry about that, Barry!!

CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR 200th COASTER RIDE, BARRY!!! :teeth: :thewave: :thewave: :thewave: :thewave:

Off to that four letter word called work today. What a weird summer I've had. Maybe going back to word will make life normal, but then probably not!

DD went to camp yesterday and a had a ball. One of the people running it is one of the two kindergarten teachers at her school. DD was so excited I don't think she stopped talking the whole time that she was there!

Legs...hope you slept better last night. Have fun with your DD on her b-day!

PW...computers are evil! I had to reinstall windows a couple of months ago and it was a pain in my butt. I hate computers!

FLM- Have a great first day back at work:D
Glad dd likes her camp. I know she will be excited to start K too.

I woke in the middle of the night but went back to sleep. Then my alarm went off at 6:30! I got a new CD/radio alarm clock. You don't need to set the alarm each night like my old one. It automatically goes off every morning and has a "weekend cancel" so it doesn't go off on Sat/Sun. But I went back to sleep after the alarm went off and woke up at 8 in a fog. I felt like I could sleep all day. I really needed that first cup of joe today!

Barry- Congrats on your 200th ride! Sorry, I live too far to join you.

I've been fortunate, no computer problems (knock on my wooden head). Just a broken CD burner that I had replaced. I really need to back up my system and was looking to buy the software that Dan Murphy had recommended.

Hi everyone ... mostly done moving ... now comes the unpacking ... ugh

MDP - you still with us? Still having computer problems? Ever find your phone? Less than a month until Vista!

Did you really! I just feel like screaming!! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: All my "stuff" is on there!!!  Called a tech again. This time he spoke English I could understand! :) I was hoping to get someone here to repair it. I don't like my "stuff" going there!  That guy said take it there, they can hook it up to another computer and back it up, then reinstall.   I still haven't taken it there. I will never again buy a CompUSA custom built computer. My previous Packard Bell was MUCH better!! Just not enough memory in that.

Legs, I think that is a good sign that you are not too disappointed that the date didn't work out. DBF lives exactly 59 miles from me. We each just make the drive once a week so its not too bad. I do wish he lived closer though. And then I think that 59 miles is not too bad, right FM? How are things going with your man btw?

PW, you have my sympathies. I know how frustrating computers can be.

We are going to a comedy club tonight - I'm excited as its been ages since I have been to one. We are eating at an all-you-can-eat sushi buffet before hand. Can't decide if we should pay the $26 for me to get the soup I like (it really is the only thing I like there) or just eat at the comedy club by myself. DBF is excited because his best friend is going with us and he has never ate at Todai before. I'm excited because I get to meet the best friend's new girlfriend. They met on match too!

Barry, congrats on the 200th!

I rarely call tech support anymore. I work tech support, though. I usually can figure out how to fix the computer. If I can't, it's broke! :)

PW...you need a dbf to do all that computer stuff for you!

My dbf and I are doing great....I would take the 59 miles over the 1300 anytime! Nothing new to really report on that front though. He's still wonderful!

Work...it was weird, but I was kind of glad to be back. My room is 3/4 done. They did a wonderful job cleaning it over the summer. Told the maintence that too. Was very impressed. Moved some stuff around. Now I'm in meetings all day tomorrow and Friday. YUCK!

We had a fun day at Butterfly World. We just got back from her b'day dinner at TGIFridays. They sang to her and she complimented our waiter on his singing.
I got her an American Girl doll for her b'day. DD took the doll to dinner. The doll was dressed up in her b'day outfit too.

FLM- How often do you get to see dbf? I think it would be tough if not impossible to have a relationship 1300 miles away from each other.

TB- What do you mean it is a good sign? Have fun at the comedy club! Interesting that your bf's best friend met his gf on match also.

I wish eHarmony would send me more matches! I paid for the month of July and haven't gotten had a match since the beginning of June!
I think when I do get a match I will stick to the ones in town. I don't like the distance thing.

I'm trying to plan next summer's vacation. I can't believe it- DD wants to go to NYC instead of Disney Cruise.

:scared1:  Sorry! Right now...men stink! :scared:

Barry...I think it was KathyTX on the tech board who said I need to reinstall Windows. I didn't like her answer so called tech support...besides, I still have a warranty into 5/05 with them. DHT told me to burn a CD and save everything I want. Burn a CD? Haven't a clue on that one! All I know is I tried it once, and it's not as easy as saving on a disk!!

TigerBear...Thanks!!

Your daughter is too cute complimenting the waiter! :teeth: Glad she had a good day. I thought of you both at Butterfly World today when I saw a butterfly outside. It was resting on the mat in front of my door! Gorgeous! It was black and had a beautiful shade of blue for markings all along the edges of its' wings. I wonder what it was.

I guess the AG doll was a hit with DD! :) The girls just love those dolls. Did she come with a name or is DD naming her?

More matches. I hear you, Legs! Slow month for you with them I guess. I still have the two guys who haven't answered back yet. Sheesh! No new matches here either.

NYC! :teeth: I wonder what brought that on with DD. Any idea?

LOL, she did not know anything about the AG store in NYC when she said she wanted to go there. I didn't want that to influence her choice. I had gone to NYC in Feb. and ever since then she has wanted to go there. After she chose NYC over the cruise, I told her about the AG store. She was so excited about that! I've been to the Chicago store (without dd!!). Love that city too.
I've been getting the AG catalog for so long and I've always wanted to get her one of these dolls. And going to the AG store doesn't help. She is the perfect age now to have one. Of course she got the doll that has the same name that she does;)
When she took the doll to Fridays I couldn't believe how many people asked if it was an AG doll and whiich one was it.

This girl at work is also doing eHarmony. She said just click the button on Your Match page to get more matches. That's what she does. I told her I've done that several times- no matches. I said they automatically match you and then send an email when you get a match. So now she tells me she gets the emails. "Oh, I got 8 matches today" or "Hey I got another 7!" I told her that younger women (around 30) seem to get a ton of matches but there aren't many matches if you are older (and esp older with child).

I love blue butterflies! The Blue Morpho is my favorite.

Gorgeous butterfly, Legs! I'm looking at pictures of it on Google. Hmmm...no clue what the one I saw was. I'll have to search.

Your DD is too cute! Of course she would have the doll with her name. ;) If I had made that connection, I would have passed mine on to you before I moved! I didn't make the connection. :( I had 2 AG dolls and gave them to the lady across the street from me for her grand daughters. NYC should be a great trip for both of you!! :Pinkbounc

For a laugh today I visited Match.com. I was thinking positively keeping TigerBear in mind. :) Out of 50 pages of guys within 45 miles of here, I found 2 to "wink" at. Ha! Some of them are waaaaaay too funny! One guy had a picture of himself from the neck down. LOL!  Once in his profile, he did have pics with his face. :) Another guy had a picture of his dog instead. LOL!  And others? You really have to wonder what the heck they are thinking! Most were fine, of course. It was good for an entertaining afternoon.

Just the neck down? Did he have clothes on?
To me, that's what Match is good for- a laugh

I had the 3 month for $50 special when I signed up for eHarmony, then I was paying by the month ($30). I did that for one month. I was looking for a special and didn't find any for the 12 month. I want to do a 12 month because it takes so long to get a match. EHarmony had offered me a 12 month special but that was a while ago and expired. So I emailed them yesterday asking for any specials and they offered 12 month for 159.95 instead of the usual $250! That's only $13 and change per month! WOOOHOOOOOO!!! I am in this for the long haul now!
