Legs. Sorry you are feeling down. Is it the XSIL that makes you feel like this or just being reminded of the X?

I have found if I try not to compare myself to others it helps a little when I am am feeling down about where I am in life. Shoot, I have worked with people my age who are grandparents! I may be childless at 33 but I don't think I would want that life instead of mine. My life may not be the life I imagined, but it really isn't that bad and it has endless possibilities. I think this is where being an optimist comes in handy!

PW, you better give this poor guy a shot if the only thing you don't like about him is his name. He didn't name himself! I have a friend from high school named Milton who now goes by Trey since he is a third. From geek to hip with just a name change!!

Thank you everyone for your congrats....! You are all so sweet and supportive! I really appriceate you all 'listening' to me through all of this.

I am excited about it all! Things seem to be coming together finally! I made the hardest call this morning to tell the Office Manager job that I wouldn't be there on Monday. I felt bad after accepting and then 'unaccepting'! I know they have had trouble filling that position so I feel bad. BUT I just couldn't pass up $12,000 extra a year or to have the account manager position that I really wanted.

Went to Home Depot to look at paint colors today for the patio home...we don't close until Sept. 3rd but I just wanted to see what new paint colors and paint techniques are available. I am so excited to be able to paint the walls like I want! I haven't been able to do that with the apartment.

PW~Have you had any communication with Marvin?! You could always call him 'Marv" or 'Vin'! Not sure those nicknames help! When I was dating it seemed that everyone that I met was named Doug! I had to have different names for them like Fireman Doug, Mini-van Doug, Longmont Doug...etc. so that I could remember which Doug it was.

Leggs~I hope you are having a better day today. I hadn't really slept very well all last week. It seems that my mind just won't stop working at times! It is hard sometimes when you look at your life and things are just not what you want them to be....Here's wishing you a better day and happy thoughts! Don't mean to be nosey but who is HG? I tried finding something about him on the thread but couldn't really. You had mentioned that he was coming to where you live when you were coming to Denver....but I am not sure what the rest of the story. Only share if you feel like it.

TB~Are you painting your house to sell it? If so where are you moving?

Well I am off to the book store. I have joined the book club that was started on the community boards and I was waiting for the book that they are reading from the library but I decided to go buy it or I will be way behind. I have always wanted to join a book club but have never had the time to go to the meetings. So this seems an ideal forum for a book club. We can discuss at our leisure and not have to go anywhere.

I feel better today, just very, very, tired. I think it's the XSIL that does it. I got the car's oil changed and went to Target. Got a new kitchen rug. Now that made me feel better, LOL!

PW- I would give Marv a try. What have you got to lose? At least you have a match. I'm so desperate for a match that I would even try a Marvin, LOL!

CM- What is your new job all about?
I also joined the DIS book club. All the copies at the library are checked out so I put a hold request for one since I don't want to buy it.
HG is a eHarmony match. I went on a couple dates with him while I was on vacation on the FL west coast where he lives. He's tried to meet up with me twice over where I am on the east coast but it never worked out. I told him to let me know when he will be in my town and I haven't heard anything from him since July 26. Not sure if I should contact him.

BTW, I now know why your name is Legs!! Have you ever dated men shorter than you? At 5'2" that has never been a problem for me. My ex was 6'2" and he towered over me - DBF is 5'10" which seems just about perfect.

CM, yep I'm getting ready to put my house up for sale. I bought with my ex when we were married. It is too much house for just me - in terms of both $ and space. I plan on looking for a duplex to rent, but will probably end up moving into an apartment. My life is just too up in the air right now for me to buy smaller. My ex plans on taking Harley. I hate to say this because I will miss her, but she has never been "my dog". I think she will absolutely love the weather in Colorado. Now my other two, I wouldn't trade either of them for a million bucks!

I am finally finshed with the outside of the house! I am so happy. Still quite a bit left to do inside though. Oh well, if I don't finish by tomorrow its not the end of the world. I doubt I'll be able to get a realtor to come by before our trip to yellowstone anyway. CM, have fun with the painting!

YES! Insomnia way too often. Weds. night I was up until 3 a.m., then Thurs. night I was ready to sleep at the computer at 9. LOL! Finally went to bed at 11. Then last night up until 3 a.m. again. I hope tonight is an early night.

Sorry you didn't have a good time at your friend's, Legs. I really don't like being around "groups" of people of any kind. It just makes me notice relationships others have and I don't. I pretty much stick to one on one things. Gee...won't meet anyone that way! I'm not happy where I am in life either and haven't been for a long time. Sheesh! Something better change!! At least the move was a positive change!! Hope you're feeling better about things now. Hope you got some sleep, too!!!

Thanks, TigerBear...you're right! But I would have to call him something else. I'd have to at least find a pet name really fast!

No, haven't heard from Marvin yet. But I haven't checked yet today. I kept myself busy today because I wanted to force myself to stay off the computer until a decent hour. Ha ha! I guess 6:15ish is okay.

Glad you're feeling better now, Legs! Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! I have to say I do feel better if I stay busy...and out of the house! Sometimes just the thought of coming back home bums me out. But I guess you can't stay out forever.

A new rug for the kitchen? Funny...I was just thinking of that last night. I don't have one right now, but I was thinking that I probably will when the winter months show up! I can't believe how cool it's been outside the last couple days. Definitely not "August" weather!

We'll see how Marvin goes. LOL! You haven't heard from HG since 7/26? Hmmm...I hate when that happens.

Thank you! All four of my furbabies below where brought home by my ex. Copper is the only one I had any involvement with getting at all. Harley has always been a Daddy's girl. I was actually very surprised that he didn't take her with him when he left. He seems happy to be getting his "Harley Monster" back. We haven't discussed the logistics yet, but he has two motorcycles in my garage as well.

I'm curious if there are any lurkers out there who have tried speed dating? Would you be willing to share your experience? I noticed that match now has some type of speed dating as well. I tried speed dating twice with no luck, but a friend of mine met a guy the first time she tried it! I really liked how you meet a lot of people in one night. The symphony here in Houston also has single events every so often. Just some food for thought....

Yep.

One of the motorcycles is a Yamaha, the other one is a Moto Guzzi (an Italian bike). They have not been ridden in years - I can't imagine they are worth much.

Wow! I would think the pup and the bikes would be treasures of his. How strange he left them all.

I know one or two people that actually like speed dating. Didn't someone on here do it? I don't know. It might be interesting, but I'm not one to believe you click that quickly. I'm more interested in developing things over time.

Yesterday at Home Depot I bought a software program thatallows you to import photos of a room and then put the paint colors on the walls so you can see what your actual home will look like with paint colors. It is fun and I have been playing with it all morning. I need to take some better pictures of the rooms so I will take my camera Tuesday to the inspection.

I don't actually have to go into work at my new job tomorrow. Maybe not until Wed. so I have a couple more days off and now that I actually have the job I can relax and have some fun quality time with my dd before she starts school on Friday.

legs~I finally broke down and bought the book for the book club. I had a hold on a copy at my library too but I want to try to keep up with the club if I can. I've only read about 10 pgs. so far. I better get busy, huh? My job is with a company that provides internet connectivty for hotels and resorts. When you book on line either on the hotels web site or through travleocity, Orbitz etc. we provide the service for this. I will be an account manager that takes care of an assigned number of hotel clients in regards to training, on going customer service as well as keeping up on ways to help the hotel generate revenue through new technology. I did this in my previous job but on a much smaller scale. I'll have a lot to learn as this is a different system. I am very excited as well as a little nervous! It is always somewhat nerve wracking starting a new job. But I love a challenge!

The good thing about speed dating is that you meet a lot of people in one night. There is no way you can make a connection that quickly - all you have to decide is do you want to see the person again. Afterwards you are emailed a list of people that you said yes to that also said yes to you. I think it is kind of a neat concept. One of the ones I did also had a friendship category.

CM, my ex now lives outside of Denver. He moved there for the snowboarding! Earliest mid-life crises I had ever heard of - he was only 32! He wanted to leave all of his responsibilties behind -including his job as an attorney.

PW, he hadn't ridden the bikes in years - not since law school. Once he graduated from law school, classic cars became his obsession, including a 1965 (?) convertible corvette stingray.
