Okay, I'll ask the ? here...

So, let me see if I get this. If my spouse and I are joint owners of a 150 pt contract at OKW with a June UY and a 150 pt contract at BCV with a December use year, we cannot combine the points (via transfer) and book a 300 point reservation at the 11 month mark for BCV b/c this would violate the transfer rule. However, if I individually own a 150pt contract at OKW with a June UY and my spouse individually owns a 150pt contract at BCV with a Dec UY - we could combine points via transfer without violating any rules and probably book at the 11 month window for either resort (depending on which way we transfer, of course) b/c nobody really keeps track of the originating resort very well?

Both of your examples would have the same rules applied, at least almost. The only difference between multiple separate contracts of a single owner is that MS has greater flexibility when dealing with a single owner. As for points transferred in, there are 2 answers. The rules say the points retain their original use year and home resort but function shows this is not true. I wish they would figure out a way to track the points consistently but doubt they ever will.

As stated, DVC can only track points by using manual notations in the computer. I haven't heard anything official, but I'll bet that internally the CM's have been instructed to check more carefully for manual notations and note anything about point transfers, and not allow points to 'adopt' a new resort and use year. Just IMO.

"We" can only hope this is something that materializes. I think the current "loophole" in their system should be fixed (and quite honestly I am surprised it hasn't been).
